  • Photo taken by collegue Simon Frankel. Then edited in Photoshop by myself. Thankyou to Simon for allowing me to post the photo. This was not a sand storm as some may think. Just over the hill was a raging fire that was taking control in 2006. They were taken at Pike River during the bush fire that burnt out around 120,000 hectares of scrub just north of the Riverland. / It was a mixture of smoke, stormy grey cloud and some sun trying to break through.

  • This was shot on the Murray River between Lock 4 and Berri in the Riverland region of South Australia. The golden glow of the sunset has created a nice metallic sheen on the water.

  • Shot at Loxton on the banks of the Murray River, in the Riverland region of South Australia.

  • The sun slowly sets upon the Murray River at Loxton in the Riverland region of South Australia.

  • Shot at the Loxton Show 5 Oct 08 in the Riverland region of South Australia. This kookaburra is part of the petting zoo and was quite happy to pose for a couple of shots. As he just sat still for ages and didn’t react to anyone as if he was a statue.

  • Shot at Loxton in South Australia on the banks of the Murray River. That moment between day and night has some beautiful colours.

  • Backwaters of the River Murray at Lyrup near sunset, late afternoon. Majestic old dead gums still standing out against the skyline. These flats are situated near Lyrup in the Riverland area of South Australia between Berri and Renmark. A great place for sunrise or sunset. Three shot stitch in Photoshop CS3. Canon 400D 18-55 lens with Polarising filter.

  • Lyrup Flats – Backwater area of the mighty River Murray between Berri and Renmark in the Riverland of South Australia. A log jam divides water laying in small pools in amongst dead river redgum trees. Canon 400D 18-55 lens with CIR Polarising filter. Two shot pano stitch in Photoshop CS3.

  • The sad part of my recent visit to the Riverland of South Australia. A backwater area, normally with substantial water, slowly drying out in the drought with salt and acidification of the soil. The drought and inaction on the river levels is certainly causing irreversible damage. However it needs to be said that there is still plenty of water in the River Murray itself for activities and visits. We need to continue to support the tourism and other businesses along the river as they battle through hard times. So that said, go visit the river and its people and maybe drop back away from the river itself and see what is slowly happening to the backwaters. Canon 400D 18-55 lens with CIR Polarising filter. (Dirty boots and clothes from standing in the mud!!!!!) Thanks to Emjay01 for visiting with me, go and have a look at his site for images of the River in its beauty. seehere

  • Early morning three shot panorama – Noora Basin, between Berri and Renmark in the Riverland of South Australia. This backwater is an evaporation basin off of the River Murray. The main river itself looks nothing like this and still holds plenty of water to make a visit to the region well worth while. Nothing better – 6.30 am, first hint of sun, great clouds, colours and magnificent dead redgum trees standing silent. Who could want for more!!!!!!!! Canon 400D – 18 -55 lens, CIR polarising filter coupled with ND4. Tripod mounted three shot pano stitched in photoshop CS3.
