This is an oil painting I did the day of my wedding. It was a class I was taking and the instructor knew I was getting married that afternoon. So he had the class paint as fast as they could, he said it will come out better then spending a lot of time on it. Well, he was right! All the paintings in the class turned out so beautiful and it took us 2 hours and I was off at noon to get ready for my wedding. This was the happiest day of my life! We were married in the little church in the Garden of the Gods. The most beautiful place on the earth. When I brought my painting home my husband was amazed and loved the picture. To this day we cherish this picture the most. It was in July and the flowers were blooming and there in the back drop was Pikes Peak covered with snow. Captured along the Mount Evans Wilderness in Colorado, this is one of those waterfalls that kind of sneaks up on ya outta the blue, and if you blink, you actually miss it. I really don’t much in the way of long exposure shots, but after being happy with how this one came out, I am going to start doing them more. Hope ya all like it! This is another image from the series of infrared shots that I took from the banks of the local river today.. However instead of focusing on the water, I decided to turn around and shoot the hill behind me as I knew that the tree in the centre would turn out bright white compared to the rest of the trees and I knew the grass would turn out well.. / Hope you like it!

This shot reminds me of the lazy, hazy days of summer back when I used to go swimming in the old creek as a kid. Taken in June of 2007 in beautiful State of Virginia, near historic Williamsburg. Best viewed LARGER!

Ya, thought the title pretty much summed it up! Captured a couple night ago as the sun was sinking low out at Reunion Lake on the eastern plains of Colorado. The colors were just stunning, I was pretty awe struck, it yielded quite a few really nice shots! Let me know what ya think! / —-John

On the river was magnificent fog, I expected sunrise, thick dark cloud covered however the skyline, this picture I took just sunrise time, only a little reddens behind the thick cloud. The Rappahannock River is a river in eastern Virginia, in the United States, approximately 184 miles (294 kilometres) in length. It traverses the entire northern part of the state, from the Blue Ridge Mountains in the west, across the Piedmont, to Chesapeake Bay, south of the Potomac River. / An important river in American history, the Rappahannock was the site of early settlements in the Virginia Colony, and, later, it was at the center of a major theatre of battle in the American Civil War. Due to its significance as an obstacle to north-south movements, it, in effect, functioned as the war’s eastern-theatre boundary, between the “North” (the Union) and the “South” (the Confederate States of America). / The river drains an area of 2,848 square miles (7405 km²), approximately 6% of Virginia. Much of the watershed is rural and forested, but it has experienced increased development in recent decades because of the southward expansion of the Washington, D.C. suburbs.
