This is an oil painting I did the day of my wedding. It was a class I was taking and the instructor knew I was getting married that afternoon. So he had the class paint as fast as they could, he said it will come out better then spending a lot of time on it. Well, he was right! All the paintings in the class turned out so beautiful and it took us 2 hours and I was off at noon to get ready for my wedding. This was the happiest day of my life! We were married in the little church in the Garden of the Gods. The most beautiful place on the earth. When I brought my painting home my husband was amazed and loved the picture. To this day we cherish this picture the most. It was in July and the flowers were blooming and there in the back drop was Pikes Peak covered with snow. A day of beauty, with love in our hearts, no wonder this painting turned out so good. This original picture is not available for sale. You can also visit my website: www.RedfishArtwork.com
Captured along the Mount Evans Wilderness in Colorado, this is one of those waterfalls that kind of sneaks up on ya outta the blue, and if you blink, you actually miss it. I really don’t much in the way of long exposure shots, but after being happy with how this one came out, I am going to start doing them more. Hope ya all like it! Cherry Blossom or ‘Sakura’ as it is known in Japan – Taken at the Werribee River September 08. Hand held macro. This image has not been edited in anyway. It is how it came from the camera. Windy day, fabulous afternoon light and great company. I was lucky enough to live in japan and experience the joy of the Sakura no Ki Festival for three years. It is truly a wonderful experience and this is my tribute to it. I hope you enjoy :)) About the Cherry Blossom in Japan. Sakura, or Cherry Blossom is an omen of good fortune and is also an emblem of love, affection and represents spring. Cherry blossoms are an enduring metaphor for the fleeting nature of life, and as such are frequently depicted in art. / In Japan the cherry blossoms are believed to exemplify the transient nature of life, because of their short blooming times. Cherry blossoms also symbolize clouds due to their nature of blooming en masse, besides being an enduring metaphor for the ephemeral nature of life, an aspect of Japanese cultural tradition that is often associated with Buddhistic influence, and which is embodied in the concept of mono no aware. The association of the Sakura with mono no aware dates back to 18th-century scholar Motoori Norinaga. The transience of the blossoms, the extreme beauty and quick death, has often been associated with mortality; for this reason, Sakura are richly symbolic. I had to go back and take another shot of this little waterfall while the yellow Aspen leaves were still reflecting off the water. I usually don’t like taking photos of waterfalls unless it’s an overcast day but this time a sunny day worked in my favor. This little waterfall is in a hard to get to area of Cheyenne Canyon, which is near the famous Seven Falls, and Helen Hunt Falls in Colorado Springs. Canon XTi f/22 18mm(18-55mm) 13 secs. * /

Emerald Paradise As Is… / Canon PowerShot S3 IS Rainbow Springs Florida’s third largest spring, Rainbow Springs pump 600 million gallons of water daily and serves as the head water to the pristine Rainbow River. The property was acquired by the State Park Service in 1990 and is slowly being allowed to revert to its natural state. / Beautiful floral gardens surround the spring, and the area is immensely popular in the spring when the azaleas are in bloom. The state also acquired Rainbow Springs State Campground, located nearby, which was formerly privately owned. From the campground, you can tube or canoe the crystalline waters of Rainbow River, or fish for large mouth bass and other freshwater species. / A nature trail provides a lovely walk past two waterfalls and the azalea gardens, and meanders along the Rainbow River. / /

One of our family’s favorite vacation spots is Pagosa Springs in Colorado. We love soaking in the hot springs pools, play in the swimming pool or in San Juan River, go fishing, or just enjoy the nature and all the beauty around. Here’s a capture from the Hot Springs pool in Pagosa, taken early in the morning.

Pastel on Colourfix paper (burgundy) – 50cm x 35cm On a fairly blustery afternoon a couple of weeks ago I took a stroll along the banks of the Goulburn River, in an area called The New Crossing Place, armed with a sketchbook and a camera. This is the result. I was determined to catch the bright yellow wattle before it was all blown away. (Sometimes we suffer for our art! My hair kept blowing in my face and the pages of my sketchbook kept blowing over)! Featured in Realist Paintings about Water – Sept 2009 / Featured in Lakes & Inland Waterways – Oct 2009
