  • 'Kooka'
    by salsbells69

    US$3.85–US$102.60

This Kookaburra would come and visit our campsite every night at dinner time. Two days later he swept in from the trees and nearly snatched the roast chicken (yes roast chicken that had been cooked in the camp oven !) from my mouth. His wings swept my face during his attempt. Quite cheeky and unafraid of us. Please dont feed the wildlife! Thanks for looking:))

  • This is the smooth rich red sands of the Hay River located in the wilderness area of the North Simpson Desert. / Seasonal rains create flash floods, brining life to the desert… a ribbon of life that runs from NT near Jervios through the heart of the Simpson, on toward Poepell corner near the QAA line which is normal desert crossing to Birdsville / A very rare scene experience only by a few travellers.

  • Hey, Watch the Wing!
    by toots

    US$3.42–US$91.20

  • Photo taken by collegue Simon Frankel. Then edited in Photoshop by myself. Thankyou to Simon for allowing me to post the photo. This was not a sand storm as some may think. Just over the hill was a raging fire that was taking control in 2006. They were taken at Pike River during the bush fire that burnt out around 120,000 hectares of scrub just north of the Riverland. / It was a mixture of smoke, stormy grey cloud and some sun trying to break through.

  • Dunes Walk
    by salsbells69

    US$3.79–US$101.08

Croajingolong National Park 08 – Part of the ‘Dunes Walk’. Another place completely. As you can see the enormity of the task ahead. Aching calves and lungs beset you before the rush at the end followed by calm waters to soothe the aches and pains. Definately something to be experienced. My friends Hillsy and Adam (WhiteRabbit64) in the foreground with Lissy leading the charge.

A tops’l schooner has been wrecked ashore in shallow water, in the North East coal harbour of Cullercoats, circa1880’s. Most winter’s saw at least one sailing ship wrecked at the mouth of the river Tyne. A Victorian photo from my priceless book, was used for the painting. Watercolour and HB pencil drawing. 12” x 8”.

  • The first rays of the sun caress the dunes at the mouth of the Powlett river as it snakes it’s way to the marine rich waters of Bass Strait. A place where ecosystems of fish, birds, animals, plants and people meet – not a place to build a gigantuous pollution factory. / / Water Yes – Desalination No / / Canon EOS A2, Velvia 50. / ©T.Middleton2008 / / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / Taken on the majestic Bass Coast.
