Today I received my delivery of Calendars.. a good thing you might think?? However, I had to pay, at the door, an additional amount of £24.76 G.B.P… this is on an order that originally only cost me £27.00 GBP.!!!! This was a charge made by the good old British Government covering Import VAT and charges. So my fellow Bubblers beware the Great British rip-off!.. My calendars have each cost me almost double the original price.. I am so disappointed.. Bahhhh Humbug!

As many of you might know that I’m maintaining a STOCK account at deviantart, it came to our (with other deviantart stockists) knowledge that our stocks have been ripped off by an arabic site, with visitors from mostly the Egypt and Saudi Arabia area. The IP address originated from Dallas, Texas for some reason. Gulfson.com The site has stolen many stock images, textures, and brushes from various stock deviants on DA, and who knows from where else. None of these works were reposted with permission. There was not even a notification of the site reposting the works, and no link back to the original artist either. There are more than 600 pages of stolen textures, with 9 thumbnails on each page. I found mine (see photo below). If anyone here knows Arabic, we would all appreciate it if you could contact the administrator of the site at qy9r@yahoo.com The email might not even go through, but it’s worth a try. Here’s some more info on the website Any help would be appreciated. To REDBUBBLERS I’m granting permission for you to use my stocks from there. But be mindful of the terms of use. (posted on the frontpage). /

today, wot work i had was washed out,so i decided to visit an old friend. / i went to where i positivily knew where they were,as i last was there 8 mths ago to take and document them with photos. / i got there and the space that they filled was empty. i went in2 semi shock thinking / that maybe i had gone mad or delusional and had come to the wrong spot…...... / but no, i knew the address but still i drove my car round the area just in case, but / no, this was the spot, they were gone no where to be seen! / then a nieghbour came out walking her dog and and told me that they had been / cut down in their prime!!!!!!!!!!!! i was devistated, shocked, i couldn’t believe it, why they / looked so healthy 8 mths ago and were 80 plus years old, maybe even more! / i couldn’t believe death could creep up so quickly on one so healthy, why ….just cut / down for no reason 7 mths ago….......then they told me they were too far on the road for too long, and that they had been hit several times b4,it was just a matter of time / b4 it happened again and someone would be injured or killed! / RIP THE gianormous BLOODGUM that WAS on GOLFLINKS RD / KILLARA, NSW,AUST / i will dearly miss u and ur unbelievable colour and the way that / you shared the road with vehicles and that cute way that i would swerve to give way / to you as not to damage u or myself 4 that matter, you were the most majestic / i had seen in a long time. / farewell sob, sob! / i am glad i got to paint u!! and im glad you evolved where you did,so i could find you!

Ashleigh was my first baby. / unfortunately we lost him before he was born. today would of been Ashleighs birthday. / If we hadnt of lost him, he would of been born n the 26th may. / years ago today. Ashleigh Ash was such a fighter! / He really hung in there for as long as he could. / Everyone kept saying to me that we would probably lose him, with all the blood i kept losing, with all the pain, but still my belly kept growing, in the ultrasounds, i could see his little fingers moving / he was such a fighter / right until the end he fought for so long that my doctor started getting hope… but we still lost him… I’m dealing better about it than last year, and the year before… / but i still cant not cry.. I am so so happy i have zafyre, my daughter, she is so special! / I like to think that everything happens for a reason, i try to tell myself that so i can deal better. / If ashleigh hadnt of died, then zafyre would not be here. / I think Ashleigh made the ultimate sacrifice so his sister could be here, because y’see i got pregnant with zafyre only a few months after losin my ash, and so if ashleigh had of made it, my little girl wouldnt be here, and she is my world! every year i light a candle for my little ash, tell him mummy and daddy and zafyre love him very much, have a cry, and then its a new day… i like to believe that he is somewhere safe, better than here, somewhere where he is surrounded by love, and can look down on us, his family who will never ever forget him and know that we love him so much. RIP my little bubba, mummy will always remember you xoxox / / (this is my painting i did for him) xoxox

The issue of plagiarism — the intentional or unwitting presentation of another’s ideas as one’s own — i just thought i would throw this out there to see what your thoughts are on this… In the worlds of Music, Art, Fashion…......well, across the board really, some say….......see it as a form of flattery….. that your work is envied to the point where others would want to copy you… what are your thoughts, have you ever experienced this and do you/would you find it flattering?

03 August 2008 / Alexander Solzhenitsyn, RIP The death of Alexander Solzhenitsyn in Moscow tonight, at age 89, brings an end to the most dramatic literary career of our time. How thrilling it was to read his words, in the pages of the New York Times, when events compelled him to authorize the publication of The Gulag Archipelago, at risk to life and limb, in 1974. The work survives as his indelible testament, a book that helped change the course of history. He was a writer of incredible bravery, spirit and determination. RIP.

I only now feel able to write about Louisa, Katie’s cat. If you remember back in May she had to have an eye removed, all went well and she started to recover but then a tooth boke and became infected and her face swelled up. She was back and forth to the vets for various things and on Friday had surgery, it was discovered she had a tumor that had spread and made her teeth fall out and her face to dissolve, anyway we had to make the hard decision to have her put to sleep. It was the kindest thing as she had gone totally blind which she could have gotten used to but she was no longer able to eat. I’ve found it hard because she was only young about 5 years old, and she still came to me at the vets when I called her and purred like crazy as we stroked her. Katie and I stayed with her and said our goodbyes as she was injected and we carried on stroking her until she went to sleep…...... Louisa 2002 – 1 August 2008 RIP Dedicated to Louisa

  • I hope this is a warning to anyone who is thinking of buying a camera on eBay. A couple of weeks ago I sold a camera on eBay. The instructions to the buyer was to deposit the funds directly into my bank account. Sadly, he didn’t do that, but put them in my PayPal account. As I didn’t have a bank registered with PayPal I could not access them. Plan A was to buy a Canon EOS 50D Premium Kit from one of the local camera stores. I had one on the hold shelf waiting. Plan A fell into a hole. Rather than wait the time to register a bank with PayPal, get my funds, and buy my camera locally, I decided to buy one of eBay. I found a 50D kit at a reasonable price, which incidentally was slightly more expensive that I could buy it from my trusty local camera shop. (I won’t tell you who the shop is … Photographic Wholesalers in Adelaide. :-o They are good.) Anyway, I purchased a Canon 50D, 18-200mm lens, and BG-E2 Battery Grip from, what looked like a reputable eBay shop. They claimed to have 3 cameras on hand and they were located in Melbourne. I paid my AU$2850 within minutes of committing to buy the goods. That was 12 days ago – it has been a long 12 days. The day after I made the purchase I emailed the seller and got no response. Two days after I made the purchase I again emailed the seller. Same result. Three days after, eBay delisted the seller from their site and my purchased goods disappeared from my “Won Items” folder on my eBay account. Thankfully I purchased with PayPal, but a resolution was far from happening quickly. PayPal do provide guarantees against being ripped off, but it is a very slow and tedious process. About 5 days after the sale, after PayPal and eBay had contacted the seller, I received an email saying he would honour the sale and send me the Camera, Lens and Battery Grip. That was a week ago. Last thursday the seller again promised to send my goods, but said he was waiting to receive stock. (He did say he had 3 on the shelf). He promised to send them on Friday. On Friday he promised to send them Saturday or Monday… Do you see a theme happening here? I have to say that both eBay and PayPal were initially very responsive and helpful. All I can hope for is a resolution of this saga before too much longer. I do have my Dad’s original 110mm bellows film camera that was made in the 1930s, and I may be using it for my main camera! So anyway, buyer beware. Paul

Our obsession with product quality can be dangerous. When people receive their orders they normally dance around the room and sometimes let off fireworks inside. The steadier ones among RedBubble customers just put a picture in the buyer’s booth. We aspire to produce the best print on demand T’s in the world. For us it is about quality of final output not maximizing number of T’s produced per hour. John turns strange shades of puce if the colours are not as close to perfect as it is possible to make. And, of course, if you are going to obsess about colours you want to make sure the garment itself is the best in the world. I have a $50 T that I think is just re-badged version of the American Apparel T’s we sell. Check out the detail in fit, stitching and fabric on the Bubble T’s. Freud will tell you to “let the past go”. But not many RedBubble calendars will be tossed at the end of the year. We wanted them to be (almost) as good as a framed print and they cut-the-mustard. I use the cards to promote RedBubble because they are little affordable pieces of art. I am not alone in thinking this. The wall art is made to be good enough to hang in a gallery (its printed on archive quality materials). In your home it should delight you every day until your children inherit it. We aim to produce remarkable products and obsess about every element. You are proud of your art and we honour this with our dedication to reproducing it. Inevitably sometimes things will go wrong, things get damaged in shipping or a size is wrong. We will never accept a bad customer experience and will do everything possible to make it right including a full money back guarantee. —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- And finally, RedBubble is converging on 100,000 members. If you have graphic design skills or just like working with fruit check out the challenge here. Martin (aka Pilgrim)

I knew times were tough but why this. My good friend Peter Brook II took his own life yesterday January 11, 2009 at 12:30 PM. Dam it you gave us no clues, how could you do this to us. He is the reason my daughter was able to get into cheerleading. We just talked last week and he was suppose to come by Monday or Tuesday night and pick up a computer I was working on for him. Nancy called him up to invite him to dinner last night but it was already too late. This is the first friend I have lost this way. We called each other brothers, man does this hurt. I will always ask what more could I have done. I will always wonder what if. So if I don’t comment on your work for the next couple of days, I’m not ignoring you. I’m just hurting and having a real tough time losing a good friend. Your friend / Troy W. Smith

This morning my trusty Canon 30D had it’s light go out forever after tumbling into the ocean. I was a quick and sudden departure and neither of us were expecting to part company so my mourning is deep and personal and as I sit here I feel as though a part of me is missing. As a result, I am reducing EVERYTHING by 10% as I am now trying to bridge the gap between insurance and a replacement companion… a small comfort but I am sure this is what my trusty 30D would want me to do.

I thought I’d explain the steps I’ve taken so far, lets see if I’m doing the right thing. Day one, I decided which car I wanted, make, model, colour, and I logged onto an aussie site where I can “apparently” make my needs known to all the dealers in my area. After hitting the submit button I only had to wait a short time before the first email arrived… / Ding I am currently out of the office for the next three weeks (from the closest dealer) I will NOT be dealing with this company, who is so out of touch they don’t have another salesperson checking emails and following up leads. MAJOR FAIL / Ding Hello, a representative will be in touch shortly….the phone rang, the dealership is over an hours drive away….refuses to talk over the phone, I must front up for a test drive before any figures are divulged FAIL / Ding Hello, a representative will be in touch shortly….I haven’t yet heard from them. FAIL Meanwhile, Scott is getting pissed off about all the phone calls cos he’s trying to run a business…. / Ding phone call from another dealership over an hour’s drive away. Gentleman explains that he shouldn’t be telling me the figure, but here’s the retail price anyway….Nice man, way over my budget, but I told him he was in the running because he gave me a figure PASS / Ding, ding, ding, ding A car broker rang a number of times after I acknowledged his email…..he said he would be working VERY hard to make the dealers in my area drop their prices. First price was higher than the above dealer….second price was a couple of hundred less, third price was another 5 hundred less, when I offered a price 4 thousand less than that he said no chance, and hasn’t called again. FAIL Scott is getting REALLY pissed now….. / Ding Next closest dealer called….gave me a figure….nice…...when I gave him MY price he seemed to be VERY surprised that anyone would offer to sell me the car at that price, but said he’d talk to the manager…I have his number…..and I suspect he’ll be hearing from me. PASS The upshot is, I want a car, with NO extras, no finance, and no faffing around, which should be a nice easy sale for all concerned. Most of the dealers HAVE a vehicle or two that matches my needs sitting on their showroom floor, but it seems that they aren’t hungry enough to do a deal. It also seems that very few of the dealerships have moved with the times, and not many are keeping up with the internet possibilities. Social networks like facebook and Twitter requests have resulted in ONE follower from a person in the US…and not a dealer, just an owner. Feedback from people here all seems to lead to the same place, the sales people are rude, overbearing, patronising, and misogynistic, and in these times that just shouldn’t be happening. When I’m well enough to leave the house I’ll go see one of the two dealers who gave me some hope. Stay tuned…. Imagine how much joy there’ll be in being able to tell you all WHO I bought the car from…... So I’m wondering – New car woes The New Car Woes Stay Tuned The new car saga

The Kan Tan oil rig, which has been in Geelong for the past couple of months for repairs, left Geelong today. I went down to Point Lonsdale to watch it as it negotiated the treacherous waters of the rip. I wasn’t disappointed! hehehe, I must say im pretty stoked to have been ripped off. It means one of my designs were good enough to be ripped u know? Read this journal entry by ‘bites’ http://www.redbubble.com/people/bites/journal/3887728-my-trip-to-asia And you will see the ripped off version of my Music Head design with a CD in ‘morfs’ mouth instead of piano keys – damn, why didnt I think of that! RIP OFF - ORIGINAL - Now most people I know would be pissed off or a little annoyed, but not me. I couldn’t care less. Instead I’m on to bigger and better things each day and I don’t fuss over little things like that. And besides, if every one of my designs got ripped off and redone, eventually people are going to link it back to me. Just like Bites has done. Designers – take note – THINK DIFFERENTLY. • I'm so sick of FALSE ADVERTISING!!!! (Ad VS. Reality photo included)

Have you ever seen those mouth watering ad’s time and time again giving you so many promises and are so relentless that you just have to buy it? So you think OK I will, so proceed to buy the said advertised edible item. The price they advertise always seemed way lower than expected once you empty your wallet for it, usually because they only advertise the price of the smallest version of the item without letting you know that… naturally. BUT then… you open it only to find you’ve been RIPPED OFF and duped into buying something that barely resembles the ad whatsoever! so small and WAY less toppings or filling etc Here’s one example of one item I just HAD to try because of how great the ad looked… but to my dismay it was extremely misleading with chicken pouring out of the front of the wrap and the wrap being so thick and full of chicken and looking to good, PFFFFT! LIES! It had SOME chicken.. all piled in the back, mostly lettuce in this, but that was it, and not nearly as thick as the ad, or even as cooked, barely what I’d called grilled chicken. This goes for their burgers and chicken pieces and snack boxes and wraps etc etc, all the same bullshit rip off… I have so little faith in advertising now, and this is a tiny example of the depths of the false advertising from pretty much every company trying to sell something! I never believe these ad’s anymore… unless they show me the made item before I buy it, which is never pretty much. Ever seen those pizza ad’s? they are a huge rip off in their advertising, I swear to god I payed $3 extra just for some pepperoni once, and they put an overwhelming >>5<< single pieces on my pizza! I counted them… ridiculous! lol, and the fact the pizzas are getting so small there is no such thing as a large pizza anymore, and so little toppings or anything, unless you pay a fortune to add extra which still does NOT look anything like the photos they bullshit you with, they are anorexic pizzas! lol Packets of chips are a joke now, barely a pathetic third full… but packed full of air so you can’t feel the tiny amount in the bottom lol, I remember those ad’s where the chips were actually out of the top of the packet, they don’t exist anymore naturally lol, but when I was a kid the chips were actually mostly full… sigh Even macca’s is the same, funny how they advertise a burger now but nobody ever holds the burger and takes a bite in the ads… don’t want people to see how TINY their burgers have become do they! lol Hungry jacks is actually not far from their ad’s at least, and value for money, they are my fav for fast food when I need to trust one lol, or an actually normal burger and chips shop, they are OK sometimes. Now I’m not a huge fast food eater anyway, I like to eat healthy and stay fit and only have a bit of poison occasionally lol, I just wish when I did it was worth it for those few minutes of stolen indulgence :P sadly it’s not. Anyways I don’t want to rant all day lol, but things used to be so much more HONEST in advertising… you got what you seen and paid for pretty much, no more sadly, profits win over customer satisfaction these days… fuckers, I hope you all get rats balls in your cheeseburgers! Enjoy. Jay.

Chuck Biscuits, ex drummer of Black Flag, DOA, Circle Jerks, Danzig and Social Distortion`passed away on October 24, 2009, after a protracted battle with throat cancer… / Hailed as the greatest punk rock drummer of all time, born on April 17, 1965, in British Columbia, Canada, Buiscits played with DOA from 1978 to 1982 when he joined Black Flag still in their early days. Music producer Rick Rubin invited him to become the drummer for Danzig in 1987 and appeared in their first four LPs and one EP. He played with Social Distortion from 1996 to 1999 when he finally quit. As a big fan of the american punk rock this is really sad news… / Producer Bill Stevenson once said: His style was easily recognizable, and he seemed to have just a ton of extra energy when playing his drums. He is one of those people who did not have to practice a lot to play really well.
