Digital Art: Arizona State, U.S.A. A Navajo native American woman rider stands on a high desert plateau admiring the evening sunset. / Note: All my digital art work is executed entirely with my mouse and Photoshop Elements’ brushes. It takes hours of concentration, patience and self control. Especially when the mouse wants to go right and you need it to go left! When this happens , I reluctantly leave my office and go for a stroll in my garden. / That usually takes care of the problem and then, I get back to work :)

I brought the cowboy, moon, trees and pond together just for fun. There’s a certain feeling a cowboy has when he is in the wilderness with just his horse and the sounds of crickets, a light breeze and a slow moving stream.

Taken at Appleby Horse Fair, after swimming across a deep pool in the river, the horse has just touched the bottom again and is trying to jump out of the water. Extra Note about the day, My daughter & 2 of her friends (all 15 year olds) went with me one year. The horses are brought down to the river to be washed and have fun in the water. The girls just stood around near the access point hoping to get involved, well this gypsy owner came down with 5 horses, looked at the girls keen faces and said take them in for me, so they jumped at the chance. All their clothes on straight in, it’s about 30cm deep at the access point then as you ride them round to the start of the deep hole, its 1m deep. Swimming across the deep hole gets them soaked up to the neck and more if you fall off. A fantastic time was had by them all, they were in the river for 2 hours but would not come out even though they were freezing. Lucky a said bring some spare clothes just in case you get to have a go.

Monsoon just minutes after passing by and heading up into Oak Creek Canyon, Sedona, Arizona! This storm was producing marble size hail with strong wind and rain. It was very dark and I thought the storm would not let up until after sundown. I was surprised by how fast the storm passed & just as the sun was setting. I did have my camera out trying to capture lightning but visibility was horrible so I had already put the camera/tripod away. I was totally taken off guard by this beautiful sight from my balcony and was unable to set the camera back up in time to capture the rainbows at their brightest! However, I’m very pleased with this shot…it is my personal favorite-to-date! It is so ironic that all the hiking and driving I do to different locations, I captured this one on the balcony of my apartment. Composite of three pics-grass/sky/rider Photoshop / Canon EOS5D…The grass was @ f16 24mm 1/60sec, the sky @f22 1/125sec / the horse and rider….@f11 1/125sec…..all ISO 100. / I liked the grass…....the sky was bland ,added a sky…and a rider just fitted nice. / The grass scene was taken at Porth Nobla ,Anglesey.

One of my favorite Rock songs of all time RIDERS ON THE STORM by the DOORS,its errie melody and lyrics still hold me in a trance when I hear it. This is my visual interpretation of the song. The tarot card THE CHARIOT, the Chariot reflects power of our unconscious needs and the importance of knowing how to direct them in a purposeful and powerful way. Ultimately this card is asking to take up the reins and understand what is driving us. / I used some original photos, clip art and stock photos to create it.
