  • My horse riding incident (An account) by Anthony Hedger
    by Anthony Hedger

Well I looked at the faces looking back at me including Thunder Clap who seem to be feeling sorry for me by now,

Something VERY different for you this time and you’ll see why as you read on. Apologies to anyone of you who has read this before because a few of you have seen it but it makes me laugh every time I read it so it may just do the same to you, who knows? But isn’t laughter great? I wanted to call this piece: ‘My horse riding experience’ but opted instead to rename it to: ‘My horse riding incident’ you’ll see why. Enjoy.

Some girls just stick in your throat, and you can’t wash them down.

It’s so dark inside the wolf / Brothers Grimm When I moved home from Europe and unpacked my boxes, I found my red coat again Her red coat, really. I was nineteen the last time I’d worn it so I didn’t scowl at the loose button, or how it stretched across the bust. She was always much skinnier than me, after all, especially once the wolf came knocking. She’d told me she’d come back for it. It’s just that she didn’t have the money for him, and he was knocking soon, and she really, really needed him tonight. And I could take the coat as payment, if only I’d answer the knock for the both of us. She’d come back for it; of course she would. I keep the collar turned up when I wear it now, at 36. Sometimes, I don’t even feel the cold. But other times, I feel it in my bones.

you couldn’t / leave a thumbprint / at the scene of a crime / for police to find / you

I wrote this specifically for the ‘Thumbs’ challenge in the FREEDOM TO SHINE group…and I won!!!! I couldn’t believe it. It never even occurred to me that I might be in the running! But I just love it that the hosts of this great group, Julie and Roger, a.k.a. solareclips and Roger Sampson go to the trouble of providing a way that written entries as well as photographic are possible. Thank you both!!! This is dedicated to two great and innovative hosts, and all the members of FTS, esp. the ones who voted for me! lol!!! Oh, and I nearly forgot, to all of you, thank you for stopping by and reading my work. : )

  • Hi Daddy, Will You Please Give Me Back My Hands?
    by happyfeet5

This is the story that I won’t hesitate to tell / even if with a heavy heart I have to / and if this is a way to get to an abuser’s heart, ...

/ This poem was inspired by a true story which a reflection was done in Spanish by Mariano Osorio. I heard it about 16 years ago and the story is still fresh in my mind. If this will help just one child, it was well the effort. Billy is a ficticious name I gave him. Oh, and this poem had me up until about 2:a.m or 3:a.m in the morning writing it, but I finally got it out.

  • The Train Ride Home
    by SashaC

She lived for these moments / Of quiet happiness / Sitting in her silent contentment / For the train ride home.

I like to reflect a lot on life and I like to think of this as a “little slice of life”. It’s quite different to a lot of my other work; but then again they’re all very unique to themselves. I kinda like it, but I would really appreciate some feedback. Tell me what you think, please :)
