On the way the Philip Island, Australia, we stop by this area to get some lunch. Unfortunately there were no good food outlet around here, instead we got this view of a bridge. Worth the stop. This is an oil painting produced on a gessoed wooden panel. The image was created with many textured and glossy layers of repetitive brushstrokes. The overall under painting depicts a landscape at night, and the layers build up contrasting areas of light, shadow and form. The work takes on an abstracted and expressive motion within this coloration, and I plan on producing some more works of similar composition with similar inspirational moods. The original dimensions of the painting are 24in. X 15.5in. It was completed in 2008.

Shot at a temple. / In south Indian Temples, when prayers are being offered to the deities, the temple band of musicians play various instruments. The beats of the drums and cymbals are in rhythm, listening to them one ends to get in to a trance. The shot here is of Barrel drums, also called Mridangam in South India. It remains suspended from the drummer’s waist and is played with sticks, some played with two sticks while some with just one. Shot with Canon DSLR. / Lens EF-S55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS / As is.
