Pop Art is a visual art movement that emerged in the mid 1950s in Britain and in parallel in the late 1950s in the United States. Pop Art challenged tradition by asserting that an artist’s use of the mass produced visual commodities of popular culture is contiguous with the perspective of Fine Art since Pop removes the material from its context and isolates the object, or combines it with other objects, for contemplation. The concept of Pop Art refers not as much to the art itself as to the attitudes that led to it.

When the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem, Rhodes and Malta constructed Valletta (the capital of Malta) in the 16th century, they built these edifices in order to house those knights with no homes of their own in Malta, and to put up visiting dignitaries in the style to which they were accustomed. Almost every langue of the order had its own auberge, and the knights of each one were entrusted with the defence of a particular section of the bastions which surround the city. This auberge housed the knights of Castille, Leon and Portugal, was finished in 1574 and remodelled in the 18th century. It next served as the headquarters first of the French military, then of the British army in Malta, and today is the office of the Prime Minister. Fujifilm F50fd.

I found these bird eggs up in a trellis in my backyard last spring. When I first found them, there was only 2, however about a week later, when I checked again, there was 4 identical eggs in the nest!

Chapel – A classic Gothic chapel built in 1928 with John Nicholas Brown’s donation and designed by Ralph Adams Cram, the whole school congregates in the Chapel for two services weekly, one true to the school’s Episcopalian identity and one in which a senior or faculty member gives a meaningful speech. There are two additional optional services; a Friday night Compline service, and a Sunday Evening Prayer. In 2005, the Chapel organ was completely renovated, and now it also features a choral practice space and a new pipe organ. Once a week the elite chapel choir, consisting of nearly 80 students, sings. Watch Hill Lighthouse, taken from East Beach, Watch Hill, Rhode Island Pentax K10D set to Bulb on a shutter release, SMC-DA* 16-50mm F/2.8 lens, 3 stop solid ND filter, tripod. 181s @ f/16, ISO100. This was a tough shot as there was almost no light left, although it doesn’t look it by the amount of light in the exposure. The long shutter allowed this to look this way, but at the end of the day the light is fading so fast, that the longer you leave the shutter open, the less light you get.
