The centerpiece and inspiration for this design comes from the antique Rollieflex camera. I wanted to pay homage to the antiquity of photography, one of the newest, yet most popular current art forms. The orange coloring of the camera was inspired by the French style of painting where an outline was painted onto the canvas at first and colored later by an imprecise wash. I used a sans font for the main title, with modification, and mirrored it. Check out my design blog designbysolo.com to view photographs of a printed version of this and other prints. HMS Warrior is a nineteenth century ironclad. She’s a beautiful vessel moored permanently within the Historic Dockyard at Portsmouth. I pass her every day on the way into work and she never fails to give me a little lift. When I was coming home and the sunset was looking so gorgeous, I couldn’t resist missing my ferry home for this shot!

That’s right people! Join the revolution!! note: I have it on no authority (4 different free translation sites!) that the Chinese characters read “Join the revolution” and I lovingly translated this into everybody’s favourite: Engrish.

What’s real: Me and most of the costume. / What’s not: The wig, the ship and of course, the background. I am a history fanatic and have read many times that statement was erroneously attributed to her. Regardless, it makes good theater.

I thought i would have a crack at a classic image here, rights of passage and all, or something…which is a lot harder than it first looks. The original is so strong and a symbolic image, so yeah i found it hard. I most like the title i came up with for this one. - The quote in the title, ” One mans freedom fighter is another mans terrorist ”, i once heard a friend of mine say about Che Guevara…not sure if it was his quote or not, but either way it always stuck in my head…yes, if i really wanted to know i would google it! / Anyway, i thought i would try and capture those polar opposites here by creating a Rorschach Test (Ink Blot), Grim Reaper vs Che, one looks up, the other looks down, text forward then backwards…you get the gist! - Anyway enjoy!

I honestly have no meaning behind this / I was bored on photoshop / and I was listening to “Viva La Revolution” because my friend was playing tony hawks underground behind me (its one of the songs on there if you didn’t know) / so yeah
