My pound puppy, Glory, was having a blast running through a field of wild grape hyacinth at a friend’s place. She was going so fast it was hard to keep the camera trained on her. But she was so enjoying spring!

I was watching a bald eagle nest in Ladner, BC, Canada, which is just south of Vancouver. The adults were coming and going at intervals. This image shows the female returning to the nest, and just about to land on a branch. The nest is to the right of the picture. The image was captured using a Nikon D2Xs camera with a 600mm lens and 1.4 teleconverter mounted on a tripod.

I said a few times I would not go back and shoot Sylvia Falls in the Valley of the Waters in Blue Mountains National Park until I got a wide angle lens. This was simply because the full scope of the supreme beauty of these particular falls is within its wholeness, which can only really be shot wide. I got the lens last week. Return To Sylvia Falls – Valley Of The Waters was shot in RAW using a Canon EOS 10D with Sigma 10-20mm at 10mm with a Warm Filter, ISO 200, 1/10 of a sec at f5.6. Featured in MASTERS OF THE SCENIC, Blue Mountains of NSW, Canon DSLR, Nature’s Wonders, Shots in the Fog, and Your Magic Place. Best viewed large! _____ _____ I used the word Return in the title to acknowledge an earlier work shot several months earlier in 2008, with a different lens: _____ See also Splendour In The Mist, which was shot at the same time as Return To Sylvia Falls – Valley Of The Waters All three images are included in the Waterfalls Of The Blue Mountains 2009 Calendar, available now:

Geese returning to Alaska, framed against the Kenai mountain range across Cook Inlet. Signs and sounds of spring near our house, despite ice chunks in the inlet. Nikon D200 and a Nikkor 18-200mm at f/11 and 1/250 sec, -.3ev, using a circular polarizing filter. IS0 200. Converted from RAW to jpeg using Capture NX2. Light curve and slight crop. Sun sets about 9:45 p.m. these days, and we’re gaining light quickly. Featured in DSLR Users Only – 3 A Day – Thank you. That’s very encouraging! Whoopee! Sold a mounted print! Thank you! I feel so energized I could climb one of those mountains now! / Sandhill Cranes leaving for the winter, with the Kenai mountains covered by clouds / Sandhill Cranes catching a thermal over Cook Inlet before migrating south for the winter. /
I took this image of a woman dressed in a black angel costume at the Renaissance Faire last month and I transported without her ever knowing into the deep evening forest. Seemed like a good place for a dark angel to wander …. Stock art courtesy of Stock.xchange

My daughter Abi Nikon D90 / Nikkor 50mm lens She literally was getting annoyed with me taking too much time and leaned against the wall, put her head back and let out a big sigh and I quickly snapped this. She immediately opened her eyes and screwed up her face and said….’Did you just take a picture of me?!. You are wierd mom!’ But I think it works ok :)
