Yes I know what you’re all thinking…It’s ANOTHER PET DOG!!!!! Don’t panic you arty farty types…it’s only up for a limited time whilst I make some cards for a friends present. Then it will be strictly back to black polo necks and matching berets. Ciao baby. Postscript (Wow I literally just uplaoded this to make cards for a friends birthday. I had no idea people would comment on it! I feel compelled to point out – as those who know me understand – my humour is very dry and ironic. Don’t take anything I say seriously! Except for my Africa pics and this word – thanks…) :) I MIGHT ADD IF ANYONE WANTS TO BUY IT-GO ON, ON YA, YEAH NOW AND THAT!!!!!!!!!!!! COLLECT THE SET!!

Thud was such a handsome fellow which I had the pleasure of meeting in Colorado in 2007. I had known of Thud prior our meeting as his owner would e-mail me about him. While in Colorado, I managed to get a series of photos of him - including this one. He died shortly after and I am honored that I was blessed with our meeting - even if only for a short moment. Although you can’t tell in these photos, Thud suffered from a condition called degenerative myelopathy (DM). He was slowly going paralyzed and although his mind was sharp, his body was not. 100% of sales of “Thud” cards will be donated to the American Chesapeake Club Trust Fund to help fund research for DM and other diseases which affect our canine friends. Harley was catching snowflakes on his tongue today. If you look closely, you can see some on his tongue. Harley is now eight years old. We adopted him when he was six years old. He is a golden retriever/australian sheperd mix, with some chow. When we see Harley being lighthearted like this, we can see the dog he was meant to be. Harley does have some bagged from when he was in a shelter all those years, but who cares - WE LOVE HIM for who he is, inspite of past hangups! WE WORK THROUGH BAGGAGE! This image has been a Group Avatar and Challenge winner. Also, place twice in the Top Ten in two challenges. Been featured twice also. Catching Snowflakes is featured in Happy Haven today 12/08/08. Thank you Cats and Dogs group for TWO FEATURES! The Life of a Puppy This morning, I woke up & kissed my dad’s head. / I peed on the carpet, then went back to bed. / “The life of a puppy, oh my, this is great.” / Then I thought about breakfast,” I hope it’s not late.” / Mom took me outside, we walked for a while. / This never fails to make Mama smile. / I sniffed of everything, that we did pass, / I ate something weird – it gave me gas. I’m sure God loves me, I know that is true. / He gave me so many great things to chew. / Rugs, plants or rocks, I really don’t care. / What I truly like best, is Dad’s underwear. That obedience book, was sort of yummy. / Though it didn’t sit well on my poor puppy tummy. / I threw up a bit, but that was all right, / When Mom found it later, I was well out of sight. I made streamers of T. P., while running at full speed. / Mom is pretty quick—but I was still in the lead. / I flew under the bed, and Mom flew past, / She stopped-shook her head, and breathed, / “You’re too fast.” Mama later phoned Daddy, and said, “It was frightening!” / That afternoon, she was sure I’d pooped lightning. / She’d sat at the computer, while I chewed the cord, / She thought I was mad, but I was just bored. When Mama had enough, couldn’t take anymore, / That’s when my tushy got shoved out the door. / I love it inside, but outside is best. / Lay in the cool grass, and had a good rest. That didn’t last long, there was too much to do— / Can’t quite remember where I hid Daddy’s shoe. / I found an old bone, and scratched at a flea, / I watched the dumb squirrels as they jumped in a tree. I barked at the kids, when they got off the bus. / I can’t figure out why this makes Mama fuss. / I barked at the neighbor, I barked at the wind. / I barked and barked, till Mom yelled, “COME IN.” The sun dipped in the west-soon Daddy would come! / I sure love my daddy: we always have fun. / I barked at my daddy, then turned on my charms, / I woo-wooed, “Hello,” then jumped in his arms. Sitting under the table—it’s sooo hard to wait. / Daddy slipped me a goodie right off his plate. / I raced through the house, and scattered my toys, / Ricocheted off the furniture, and made lots of noise. Mom found her purse – the one I abused. / Daddy let loose a chuckle. Mom asked “Amused??” / I cowered down low, I must be in trouble. / Dad said, “Wasn’t MY boy, it must be his double!” Mom turned off the TV, and said,”Time for bed.” / Dad said “Let’s go boy,” and patted my head. / I got in my spot, between Mom and Dad, / I thought ‘bout my day and what fun I had. Mama kicked out my bone from the covers below, / Then let loose a sigh—a sigh deep and low. / She gave me a kiss, and snuggled me tight, / And whispered so softly, ‘My darling goodnight’. My Beloved Dog Sam July 18, 2000 – March 28, 2009 A PRAYER FOR ANIMALS Hear our humble prayer, O God, for our / friends the animals, / especially for animals who are suffering; / for any that are hunted or lost or / deserted or frightened or hungry; / for all that must be put to death. We entreat for them all Thy mercy and pity, / and for those who deal with them we ask a / heart of compassion and gentle hands and / kindly words. Make us, ourselves, to be true / friends to animals and so to share the blessings / of the merciful. —Albert Schweitzer --

Okay,Okay…I know I am on a Golden Retriever kick…but I just can’t seem to get past the soft faces and warm colors and maybe it is because I just saw Marley and Me! Cried like a baby I tell you…anyway, I did one like this many years ago for a client and just had to give it another try. / This is an oil and acrylic painting, painted on gallery wrapped artist portrait canvas. / 12”X 14” / This original is for sale. Sienna and I wish you a very Happy Holiday Season!!! In August, I took this photo of Sienna watching the birds through my patio door. For this digital compilation, I replaced the “outdoor” scenery with a picture of a snowy pine tree from my yard, added snowflakes, and a slight orton effect to add a dreamy effect for the holiday season!! I really don’t have too much time on my hands…. my housework, holiday wrapping, cards, and cooking are waiting for me!!!!!
Another wintry experiment with one of Sienna’s pictures (original photo shown below). She was standing in the snow along Clarks Creek, but I converted the picture to black and white, added falling snowflakes and a red holiday bow to make her look a bit more festive! / Original taken February 2008. It was fairly easy to make the snow. I just searched on the internet for a Photoshop tutorial to make snow and found it instantly. Here’s Sienna’s original picture: /
