Resurrection

  • The pinks in the rose and the quilted feel of the background offer warmth and comfort, along with the inspiring words of Emily Dickinson which reassure those who have lost their mother that she’s still close and caring.

  • I’ve been having to get very close to the butterflies with my macro lens, but I decided to stalk them this time with my 400mm lens. I could keep a safe distance without scaring them away and came up with pretty good results on this Gulf Fritillary with its wings outspread. I’ll have to try this more often and see what happens.

  • Fire ravaged this area along the Wenatchee River a few years back as evidenced by the still burnt tree trunks and dead snags along the river. Yet a you can see by the vibrant color like rebounds hince the title.

  • ...because He lives. / / Have a blessed Christmas!

  • Another shot from my cemetery series. This shot really caught my eye, man lays asleep waiting for the resurrection and nature lays dormant waiting for that breath of new life come spring. The orange of the leaves is a promise and a sign of hope that this is not the end of life but only the beginning. / / More in this cemetery series: / / / / / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / / /

  • Companion piece to the coincidently named “Ascention.”

  • Resurrection / (captured in Hamburg, Germany)

  • The Angel of the North probably one of the most photographed works of public art in the north of England if not the country as a whole. I felt it required a fresh view and as Easter was fast approaching and the word Angel being Hebrew for messenger I thought an artistic take would be to re-create the crucifixion scene for a modern day audience. This is three images combined to make this scene.

  • This church is known to Petersburgers as the Church of the Savior on the Spilled Blood – or even just the Church on the Blood – as it marks the spot where Alexander II was fatally wounded in an assassination attempt on March 1, 1881. Designed by Alfred Parland in the style of 16th and 17th-century Russian churches, the Church of the Resurrection provides a stark (some would say jarring) contrast to its surroundings of Baroque, Classical and Modernist architecture.

  • I was thinking of Julie Langford’s dear mother as I worked on this image, and I kept thinking how we all must undergo metamorphosis as we make the transition from this world where light is exterior to the next world where the interior light of our Maker can finally show through when we shed our caterpillar casing and spread our butterfly wings in the new life.

  • My cousin Mary lived her entire life in a wheelchair. She was a sweet gentle spirit who died as a young adult. Her mother missed her terribly and so did her sisters. A red spotted purple butterfly began to “visit” their garden shortly thereafter, and the sight of it brought my cousins and my Aunt Lucille such joy and peace they took it as a comforting sign from heaven that Mary was sending smiles and love their way. Today, this red spotted purple literally kept running into me as I was trying to make my way to a flower bed to do some weeding. Well, it got my attention alright, so I put away the gardening tools, came inside to grab my camera, and starting clicking away. It lingered and lingered and was so accommodating, something that I’m not accustomed to seeing with the butterflies in my yard. I enjoyed my little visitor so much, and I’d like to dedicate this image to Mary and my Aunt Lucille who has since passed away. I think of them every time I see the blue butterfly named “Red Spotted Purple.” Maybe they were just dropping in to say hello to me today and to bring smiles and love, via a butterfly, from heaven. Maybe Mary was telling me, “I can walk now, and I can fly!”

  • I call my Orchid Resurrection because it has resurrected from the dead after the kittens ate it., and it has 6 flowers on the one bract. I am delighted to have it back. hugs

  • Blue has a feminine energy, but while it can be fragile, it is not without strength. This piece speaks of restoration of your inner spirit. If something has been lost, if times have been tough, or if you have been feeling something missing within you, this piece asks you to remember your inner strength. It speaks of human resilience and our ability to resurrect ourselves, asking you to stand up with pride and appreciate the power of your spirit. You are capable of positive change. • / / nurture / The act of nourishing or nursing; tender care; education; training; That which nourishes; food; diet; The environmental influences that contribute to the development of an individual; see also nature; to nourish or nurse / en.wiktionary.org/wiki/nurture Media – pencil and photoshop / Substrate – paper I can’t explain this, ‘cept to say, it’s inspired by our connection with nature and the fragility of life itself sometimes, the message coming through is to nurture life by way of fostering goodwill toward one another and accepting we have a duty of care to our natural world also. Because Easter is approaching I thought it appropriate :) The child’s sustenance, or umbilical cord if you like is coming from a tree, symbolic of the healing that nature can bring….the new life and growth that comes with nurture both of spirit and of nature. Humility is understanding our rightful place in the scheme of all things, including nature, family structure and the wider community…... a world where there is tolerance for all, is the one i pray for

  • All images are © copyright Rosa Cobos 2009 . All rights reserved This title has been inspired by one of the most sensible and strange films of Martin Scorsese….His “Last Temptation of Christ”... It was very polemic… which I deplore… for it is for me , a dream of human rooting and so factible in that realm of desires. My words are not trying to reproduce his film, but somehow they are talking from the imaginary Jesus’s heart… and the sudden appearing of his almost goshtly soul, to which he could have talked to before expressing those so Sacred “Seven Words”. / Beleiving or not is not of importance… words sublimate our ideas… and work beyonder our realities, so moving and changing that we cannot even perceive the shades of our understanding. “TheLastTemptationOfChrist” Seven Words…. like seven days… / and God created the World of Mortality. / Seven Words threading a cocoon … / of selfcompassion. / Why should I…? / Why did you…? / Why is the shell of my virtue… / so empty? No one dares. / Muted , deaf and blind. / The ones buried by hatred and despise.. / the others at the brim of repentance… / The sufferers rooted to the crackling earth, / unstable and moved .. bleeding carcasses. / Their warm hand tired of cleaning the stake, / and the lillies repting viciously… / to refresh my unuseful legs. I dream…. / I see… / myself… / Not a gosht… / just the Dark side of Love, / there… breathing a lapse of Death. / Sometimes…. the souls, / when they look for cares…. / mirror the pains into the light and air. / And the Nature brings them the image, / of their miracle of Soul… / nailed to her Fate. / Angel disguised as the Father, / unfolded wings, / that never touch me… / promises of rainbow archways, / where I will trip to along… / the Resurrection. / My Other.. is mine as I cannot see my eyes, / looking into Heaven’s reflection. / Seven words. / Awaken incense… / with each breath, and with each blow. / I smell of Sanctity…. / but I´d rather prefer for ever… / the smell of dust and blood. / Rosa Cobos © Copyright Rosa Cobos 2009 . • “So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, / The crawling locust, / The consuming locust, / And the chewing locust, / My great army which I sent among you. You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, / And praise the name of the LORD your God, / Who has dealt wondrously with you; / And My people shall never be put to shame. Then you shall know that I am in the midst of Israel: / I am the LORD your God / And there is no other. / My people shall never be put to shame. “ / ~Joel 2:25-27 Stock Credits: / Sxc.hu / aurochstock.deviantart.com

  • A phoenix is a mythical firebird with a colorful plumage and a tail of gold and scarlet symbolizing rebirth. This artwork is a mixed media creation with gold acrylic paint, embossed decorative paper, oil pastels, woodless colored pencils, marker pens, paint pens and black sharpie on Canson paper. Original measures about 12.5×19 inches. This scan does not really do the picture justice as it does not pick up the metallic golds used throughout the image.
