Old 2×3 in shot of my dad when he was 25. There is a fair amount of damage to the original print that needed to be cleaned up. The final result is not too shabby. Photo color and retouch in PS CS2.

This is an image colorized from a scanned black and white print. Blemishes, cracks, and scratches were fixed then colorizing began. The client desired that the colors be close to the 30×40 original hand-colored print of which he had a photograph. The original hand-colored print was quite damaged so rather than working from that original, I worked from the black and white print, sampling the colors from the damaged original and employing those in the colorization process.

Picture taken of the old pier head at Herne Bay, Kent UK. The pier was nearly 3/4 mile long in its heyday and was the second longest pier in the UK,(the longest being Southend) Originally built for the old Edwardian Steam Paddle Steamers. The pier suffered two serious fires to it’s theatre at the shore end and subsequently had a Sports Centre built on the site of the old Theatre which still remains on the short stub of the old pier. In the 1970’s the pier became neglected by the Tory Council who considered at the time that money was better invested in the nearby City of Canterbury and the pier along with Herne Bay itself became a run down, neglected, Cinderella Victorian seaside town. The pier’s demise came when in 1978 a ship sailed through the middle of it in a storm destroying the centre section. Demolition of the pier except the Sports Centre and the truncated pier head soon followed. It actually cost more to pull the pier down than it would have done to repair it. In the late 1990’s up to the present day Herne Bay has undergone something of a rennaissance and now has a beautiful , stunning sea front and is once again a thriving attractive seaside town. Plans are now in place to fund and rebuild the pier to it’s former glory. The building on the pier head is the old cafe, so who knows one day soon we may be able to sit and have cream teas in the pier head cafe once again. In the background is the new wind farm which lies four miles out to sea. Camera: Olympus E410 – F5.6, +0.7 step1/1250sec, / iso 100, f/l 300mm.

First Place Award – 2009 Utah County Fair / Category: Digital Manipulation On our way to Grand Teton National Park, we drove through Ovid, Idaho and saw this old church. The windows were boarded up, so I have restored the look by replacing the windows back to their semi-glory. I found pictures on google images of this building and used them as my guide. This was a beautiful building in its day. I wish I could afford to buy it and restore it. One image said it was also a school house at one time. blayden.zenfolio.com / Original Fine Art Photography / © Blayden Thompson 2009. The Khazneh (Treasury) – Petra’s Most Famous Ruin With Beautifully Carved Facade, Jordan
The Propylaea is the entrance to the temple of Parthenon. Built between 437 – 432 B.C. Propylaea was constructed of white Pentelic marble and gray Eleusinian marble (limestone). / The word propylaea is the union of the prefix pro (before or in front of) plus the plural of the Greek pylon or pylaion (gate), meaning literally that which is before the gates. The Brandenburg Gate of Berlin and the Propylaea in Munich are copied from the central portion of the Propylaea. This picture was taken nearly 2 years ago, while this part of the Acropolis archaeological site was under restoration. Nikon D200, Nikkor VR 18-200mm

Abstract portrait of a woman.
This photo I took of one of many historic buildings in the town of Strathalbyn South Australia. There is only a couple of them that are lit up at nightime, so the pickings are a bit thin. This building is now used by an accounting firm and a bank. It was restored painstakingly to perfection years ago, and is an icon to the town. This happens to be my very first photograph of a building lit up at night time. / Nikon D5000 SLR.
