This husband and wife were originally from Chennai, India, but have moved to Alleppey in search of work. This doorway is their home. What struck me was how proud they were of each other, and how they showed immense affection and respect towards one another. They DEMANDED to be photographed. The nicest people we met in all of India … and quite possibly the nicest two people we’ve met anywhere (typical of Chennai people). I wish them the best of luck.
Red roses say “I love you” and also stand for respect and courage.
Arlington West is an ongoing display of the casualties in Iraq on East Beach in Santa Barbara, to protest against the war in Iraq, and increase the public awareness regarding the military and political fallout of staying there. Each Sunday morning thousands of crosses, as the number of the fallen, for that day, are placed in the sand and volunteers are providing the public with up to the moment information on casualties plus individual stories on the fallen. Another version of this shot was the hit shot of the past two months on my lightthinker-gallery on deviantArt. In no time it roared up into second position on this gallery: the present dates are 1985 views and 285 favs. Some of you will have had a look at my ligththinker-gallery and seen that the central impetus of this gallery lies in the combination of lightthoughts, i.e. lightful and inspiring quotations with beautiful photography. Let me give you the lightthought 490 which goes together with this picture: “We are each gifted in a unique and important way. It is our privilege and our adventure to discover our own special light.” / (Mary Dunbar) And now the sad thing. I closed down my lightthinker-gallery this week for the time being. I told my 670 watchers that Redbubble had won at least temporarily and that they had the choice of watching either of my two jchanders-galleries, the one on deviantArt or the one here. After nearly three years, a new chapter has been opened. This Redbubble gallery, still in its buds, has developped such a dynamics of its own that I decided to give it most of my energy now. I hope you will appreciate it. Taken at Lage Vuursche, 22nd October 2007. 10.33 am / Nikon D 80, Nikkor 18-200 mm at 70 mm / F 7.1, 1/100, ISO 500
This picture of a lovely laughing child was taken some years ago now while I was driving out from Meekathara in the WA central desert on my way towards the Gun Barrel Highway. At a tiny camp called Wiluna I stopped to look for some art and come across this family sitting in their car in the shade. This child’s sweet face has stayed with me all this time but today, this momentus day, is the first time I’ve felt like I could display it. Little Debbie and her family are impoverished by anyones standard but they clearly have love and strong family bonds. This child represents what we that is we white Australians are saying sorry for. Sorry that we couldn’t see value in our fellow Australians. The first settlers here in this wide brown land. Sorry that we took little children away from their family and their country and people. Only a relatively short time ago this child and her mother would have fled at my approach fearing my whiteness and the dreadful things we whites perpetrated upon them in the name of the law. So from the bottom of my heart Debbie I would like to say Sorry. Sorry Sorry indeed I am very sorry. And I hope that now we can all go on together in peace and trust and mutal respect. For all the little Debbie’s white and black and brown and pink and yellow lets all step forward together hand in hand and welcome whatever it is that comes next….....

This photo is taken at the Olmense Zoo (Olmen, Belgium). / Don’t you just love their cute look (claws and teeth not included) (: A quick bio on these beautifull creatures: class: Mammalia (mammals) / order: Carnivora (carnivores) / family: felidae (felines) / genus: puma They go under the names Puma, Panther, Mountain Lion, American Lion and Cougar etc…. The cougar holds the Guinness record for the animal with the highest number of names, presumably due to its wide distribution across North and South America. It has over 40 names in English alone!!! Being the largest of the small cats, they are slender and agile cats. / And although they resemble the domestic cat, they are about the same size as an adult human, with a maximum of about 3 metres!! An adult paw print is approximately 10 cm… that’s 4 inches! The gray wolf and the cougar compete more directly for prey, especially during the winter. While individually more powerful than the gray wolf, a solitary cougar may be dominated by the pack structure of the wolves. / Wolves can steal killings of the cougar and occasionally kill the cougar as well. Cougars (as well as other cat-likes) deserve respect and admiration from all humans! They may look like domestic cats, but are none the less wild animals living on survival instincts only!
I posted a photograph of a Great Horned Owl a few days ago for a challenge, in commentary I asked Way of the Warrior if he could do his ‘magic touch’ on it and the collaboration began… / He did 4 beautiful edits with the 2 photos I sent him and this was my favorite! WindOwl is my ‘handle’, spirit name and who I aspire to be… / The Wind is a force of Nature, air in natural motion – an influential force or trend that touches everything in its path, sometimes a gentle breeze and other times, as a hurricane. / The Owl is a bird of prey, long associated with wisdom and truth, honoring intuition, using discernment, outsmarting deception and trusting first impressions. / Together, my intentions are ultimately aspiring to help others transition and transform into who they aspire to be… The Three Faces of Owl / The wisest of the bird clan, awakening to honor Grandfather Sun – then sleeping, while Mother Nature unleashes her wondrous glory, upon unseeing eyes and broken promises, from the gray matter, we Humans call Truth. Awakening once more to honor Grandmother Moon and discover the darkness is only feared by those afraid of their Self. tkrosevear Thanks to Tony for helping me to re-defining my intentions and Salute the Pack!
PART OF THE “LIFE IS….” COLLECTION “LIFE IS….RESPECT” THIS WAS TAKEN IN GREECE AROUND 8 AM . THE OLD LADY APPARENTLY SITS OUT THERE FOR HOURS JUST WATCHING LIFE GO BY AS SOON AS THE SUN COMES UP EVERY SINGLE MORNING. GREAT CHARACTER
As I finished this work this morning, I was soon reminded that my path must be sacred and true, as I witnessed 4 Bald Eagles and 2 Golden Eagles sitting along the river treeline, never since we’ve been here have I seen a grouping like this together. My body was tingling from head to toe and I got so caught up in the beauty, I could only take a few photographs (which I’ll share soon). / In Northern America, the Eagle was considered great medicine power. To the Native Americans there were different kinds and divisions of Eagles. The Golden Eagle had a very high rank. The most potent and magical was the Sky Eagle which the Iroquois called Shadahgeyah. Among the Hopi, the Eagle god was called Kwahu and according to their legends, this great bird seldom came below the clouds; only the holiest of Shamans ever saw it. Even the Aztecs said this bird represented celestial power and the rising Sun. / As a Solar Eclipse approaches with the Chinese New Year on 1/26/09, the thought behind this Mandala becomes more clear…”We Are ALL One Tribe” Rainbow Hoop Created with Wacom Graphic pad/pen and enhanced with Redfield plug-in fractilius filter and photoshop7
Over the years, a variety of people, cultures, and species have been given credit for the building of Stonehenge. Some of the most legendary figures trying to take responsibility have included: / Giants: According to old myths, dancing giants were caught in a sunbeam and petrified to stone, causing the monument to be nicknamed the “Giant’s Ring”. The stones were also believed to have healing power. / Merlin and King Arthur: Some believe Merlin himself assembled Stonehenge to commemorate slain chieftains. It’s also rumored that the Sword in the Stone, which would eventually lead Arthur onto the throne and into legend, was made from Stonehenge Stones. / Aliens: Most of the world’s earliest and most elaborate crop circles are found within a forty-mile (64km) radius of Stonehenge. Scientists today are unable to replicate crop circles, suggesting that their construction and that of Stonehenge should perhaps be credited to a more intelligent species. / Atlanteans: According to Plato, the Kingdom of Atlantis controlled the islands of the Atlantic and built many stone structures to better predict future events based on astronomical calculations. Given the fate of Atlantis, which supposedly sank into the sea, it’s debatable how accurate their predictions could have been. / Druids: John Aubrey, a Stonehenge scholar, erroneously suggested this connection three centuries ago. The Druids are an earth-based faith that we now have formed much later than the building of Stonehenge. The Druids do celebrate the summer solstice, same as Stonehenge’s true builders, and they have recently made it a tradition to incorporate this ancient monument into current rituals. / The Beaker Folk from 2500 BC are believed to have done some of the work on Stonehenge. They were an aggressive culture that invaded the Salisbury Plain. From artifacts, we know that the Beakers were sophisticated, organized, understood mathmatics, worshipped the Sun, and celebrated the solstices. This makes them ideal builders for some of the site. / The other cultures that contributed to Stonehenge remain a mystery, though archaeologists are getting closer and closer to finding answers. This is a photograph of a full scale replica of Stonehenge that was erected as a WWI memorial by Sam Hill, in Maryhill, WA which overlooks the mighty Columbia River and Mount Hood. The photograph of the Full Moon was also taken by myself in October 2008, the two were merged and edited in photoshop7 with Redfield plug-in for the rippled water effect. Stonehenge

Anam Cara is Gaelic for “soul friend”, while working on this Knotwork the thought of this Celtic circle of belonging would not leave my mind… / John O’Donohue’s book was one of the most profound and life-changing reads of my life ~ “Friendship is the sweet grace that liberates us to approach, recognize, and inhabit this adventure. A creative and subversive force, claiming this intimacy is the secret law of life and universe. The human journey is a continuous act of transfiguration. If approached in friendship, the unknown, the anonymous, the negative, and the threatening gradually yield their secret affinity with us. As an artist, the human person is permanently active in this revelation. The imagination is the great friend of the unknown. Endlessly, it invokes and releases the power of possibility. Friendship, then, is not to be reduced to an exclusive or sentimental relationship; it is a far more extensive and intensive force. / The Celtic imagination articulates the inner friendship that embraces Nature, divinity, underworld, and human world as one. The dualism that seperates the visible from the invisible, time from eternity, the human from the divine, was totally alien to them. / The Anam Cara was a person to whom you could reveal the hidden intimacies of your life. This friendship was an act of recognition and belonging. When you had an ‘Anam Cara’, your friendship cut across all convention and category. You were joined in an ancient and eternal way with a friend of your soul.” There are many here that I feel are my “Soul Friends”, you know who you are…I just wanted to acknowledge those who echo my soul ;) Aeone ~ Anam Cara artwork sketch photographed and edited in photoshop7, colored with wacom pen and filtered with redfield plug-in fractilius and poster edges
One reason I love animal photography is the unpredictability. There was no warning that this venting of anger was going to happen. It was there and gone in seconds. Note: If he gets this mad about having his picture taken, what is he like when he is really angry. Note: In my teenage years I would have paid a great deal of money to have a poster of this for my room. I guess I haven’t grown up much. I want a poster of this. Man has conquered space, gone to the depths of the ocean, found cures for diseases, but still we have not learned how to respect mankind. / We have acquired knowledge, skills, expertise, but still have not leaned the true meaning of understanding. / We have acquired wealth, but still have not learned how to share. / We have achieved great things, but still have not learned to be compassionate. / We give in order to get, instead of giving because we care. / We turn a blind eye to injustice, when we should be standing up for what is right. / We dwell on the past instead of looking to the future, which is something that we can change. / We blame today’s generation for what happened in the past, instead of uniting to make things better for all. / We incite instead of exciting. / We blame others for our own inability to do better, be better. / It is often better to walk away than to fight. / There are no excuses when the playing fields of life are level. / I remember getting angry at a wedding when the minister said to the bridal couple that marriage meant sacrificing….. if marriage meant you have to sacrifice….. why get married? / Of all the credo’s, verses, sayings, quotes, one should stand out…............. ‘Respect others’. It’s as easy as that…..................................
