Evening falls over the Australia’s southern-most mainland capital, Melbourne, home to almost 4 million people from all four corners of our earth. / / Many of Australia’s citizens, new and old, have come here to set up a new life away from wars and other hardship in their home countries. As we have already noticed, Redbubble dont speak the same lingo, as in, it doesnt use HTML or CSS etc, which means; we cannot use a lot of the widgets, scripts and all dem goodies out there in here. Which is ok, but sometimes i found that i wanted to promote about my other sites/projects here in my profile.. but couldnt.. till now :) / (well, I figured it out now..prob been able to for ages already..hehe) As you that may have read my previous post, i discovered more of Feedburner goodies recently. In that discovery i found a Widget that can animate your RSS feed – that doesnt use html or scripts, which means we can use it in here! I utilized the RSS Animated widget in two ways : First, i’ve been wanting to bring my journal post entry titles further UP in my profile, but cuz ive got a pretty jam packed profile on the left hand side..it forces the Journal Entries way down to the bottom end, and i dont know if people scroll that far down! LOL! So with animated rss widget from Feedburner (i chose the Email option/display) I can now place (like below for example) in the higher end of my profile, where it will ‘flash’ the most recent post (utilizing my rb journal rss feed), Hopefully giving it more attention.. the second way i used it.. / is to take the half banner size option on white background of the same Animated Widget – with feeds from my two sites, Artdictive and Webgrrl’shop – flashing the most recent posts there.. / WANT TO MAKE A QUICK ANIMATION OF YOUR ART * / for display purposes like the moving images below ? / Go to PICASION where you can Create Animated GIF online for free! Upload your pictures or grab them from Flickr or Picasa Web, make avatars or funny animations and post it to MySpace, LiveJournal, Facebook or Redubble. No need for Flash FOR THOSE WHO LIKE TO SEE STATS / At the bottom of my profile you should be able to see LIVE STATS, free service by FEEDJIT . Make sure you get the Run-Anywhere Widget (link takes you directly there) Usually they all are scripts, but this one is not and i’ve been quite happy using Feedjit services on most of my blogs for free interesting stats. See how it all looks at my profile (clickty click) Have you found tools and toys you can use in Redbubble?*

If, like me you’re trying to improve all the time (not always succeeding :) ) and get some exposure and success sales-wise then you may want to check out the following sites for inspiration and also ways to direct people to your portfolio on RB: Competitions and other places to submit (some of which mentioned by various people in forums and journals) – in no particular order: Design by Humans – a well regarded ‘vote to print’ site – also has some good resources like ‘realistic’ templates to use for ‘model’ images. Tee invaders – A new competition site (haven’t checked it out yet) KingStrike – A slightly different concept – People buy the rights to your design for printing Teenormous – A great collection of shirts from around the web Threadless – No news here – everyone knows about Threadless. As I found it’s not easy to get into!! – lots of competition. It’s a community of sorts like RB, and You can add your own blog feed in your Threadless profile (so you can point it to your own blog, or your works on RB) – submission kit also has resources for ‘model’ images Shirt.w00t – another rolling competition with different challenges TeeFury – one a day – vote etc Teextile – This is brand new, and is another ‘one a day’ site. May be a good time to get something in there… Caponocca – Another competition site – $2500 for printed shirts 6 dollar shirts – Currently accepting submissions (2 colour designs) Mysoti – A fairly new POD (print on demand) site similar (in some ways) to RB, but without the community. Don’t know about the quality but the I’ve sold a couple there. Full Metal Shirt – Another competition site… Uneetee – Another US-based vote and print site Emptees – An aggregator, community and blog for your own and other’s designs Rumplo – another aggregator of other people’s designs. Unfortunately they don’t accept design suggestions from RB, but if you do a little digging you might find a way… StumbleUpon – Social bookmarking – Add your bubblesite, your blog etc – some people have reported success from this. Feedburner – Syndicate and publicise your ‘feeds’. This could be your blog, your works on RB, or pretty much anything. Feedburner allows you to get stats on the feeds, publish them elsewhere, and also create all sorts of widgets for subscribing etc. I’ve started putting the ‘stay in touch’ section in my posts to see how it goes… (might post more detail on this as it’s a bit more technical) I love your t-shirt – a sort of blog but also a place to submit designs to get seen A better tomorrow – a German design competition site Spring Leap – Another competition site (haven’t really looked yet) ModernTee – Another competition site ($250 per design) oh yeah – Zazzle and Cafepress if you want to sell mouse mats ;) FFFFound – Image bookmarking blogs that you may want to look at to find the sites yourself Competeetion – This is a great place to find out about other sites and competitions going on around the web. Hide your arms – A pretty good T blog – with the most useful post about basically every other T shirt blog. (that saves me writing the rest out under here!) TCritic – Another blog – not very frequent Fashionably geek – Clothing and accessories for the ‘well-dressed geek’ The Fresh Stock – Street wear and art TeeBurb – Tee designer community, blog – integrates with Twitter Teecraze – Nice simple syndication blog RB Tee Designers Sites / Blogs Redbubble home pages – find the historical home pages here Grandia Design – Clothing and interviews with fellow RB’ers (including ME) from the excellent Grandia Design Redbubble Twitter Twibe Bubbling under the surface – Unofficial RB Blog Diesel Laws – The mightly Diesel, now with a new full stop. Damien Mason – Web Design, Illustration, Animation and Monkeys WebGrrl – Not just T-Shirts… mtths – Such cool stuff – with success on Threadless too! JemimaLovesBigTed – JLBT on Tumblr Cathie Tranent – Cathie T on Tumblr Paul McClintock – Pauk on Tumblr Other Resources Free images – Places to find images on the web – useful for that inspiration or starting point for a design. How to find images – Another good wrap up of places to source images Typographic Posters – This is a great resource for all sorts of inspiration Smashing Magazine – A fantastic resource for design, print and web. Subscribe and get inspired on a very regular basis TypeNow – Free Fonts from A-Z. Lots of stuff for your ‘parody’ Tees :) FontSpace – 1000+ free fonts Anyone know of any more that would be of interest to RB T designers? – reply in the comments. I’ll keep adding to this when I find more… Stay in touch / / Subscribe to T-Shirt Updates / Subscribe to my T-Shirt blog | visit the blog
Caught this Chickadee taking some fibers from a blanket laying on our back deck for building a nest.
You’ve seen the film, you’ve read the book, you’ve bought the T-shirt & now you can buy the artwork too. / Yes its inspired by the film ‘End of The Line’ The message is simple enough, our Oceans will contain nothing more than Ghosts if we continue to ignore the obvious. We need to change; we need to look at what we’re doing to the global fish stocks & work out a better way to manage & sustain the resources available to us. / Also available as a T-shirt. / Like the sale sign says, when they’re gone, they’re gone!!!!! / /
This design replaces ‘Fish Stocks’ due to the interest ‘Ghosts’ has recieved. I didn’t expect ‘Ghosts’ would generate a lot of interest to be honest, but then what do I know about art. / So now there’s two options available, you can have ‘Ghosts’ as wall art or you you can have the T-shirt or maybe even both. / Next time you go out for a meal or to the supermarket & fish is on the menu; remember to order only sustainable fish. / Ps, not all the colour options work but its your choice. / 11/06/09 / Featured in the WTF 11/12/09
Maybe we need to treat her better? Please look at the larger view…....it’s worth the extra click. / /
I have the very great pleasure of introducing you all to a wonderful new Spiritualist Resources site on the internet. Many people can benefit from the information that has been collated and presented here. I hope you all take the time to have a look. First, from me . . . Some de-mystification: / .. / There are three basic physical controls on a camera, digital or otherwise: / 1.) Focus / 2.) Aperture / 3.) Shutter speed. / .. / Of the three, Aperture and Shutter speed control exposure. Aperture also controls how deep the area is that will be in focus (depth of field) and Shutter Speed also controls how motion of the subject (and camera) is recorded. All the modes on a camera, Program, Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, Manual, Auto, etc. are just different ways of controlling Aperture and Shutter Speed. There are different modes for controlling focus too. / .. / Definitions: (from Camerapedia ) / 1.) Focus: to focus means to adjust a lens or its optical elements for achieving a sharp image of subjects in a certain distance from the camera / 2.) Aperture: An opening in a lens that controls the amount of light passing through it. (added by me – the aperture is variable in size and also controls depth of field / 3.) Shutter speed: The amount of time the shutter remains open. (from me: it controls not only exposure, but how motion is captured, i.e. blurred or frozen) / 4.) Depth of Field: The range of distances (from near to far) within which a scene will be considered to be “in focus” (several factors influence/control depth of field: aperture size, distance from subject, point of focus, focal length of lens) .. / Now, there are other aspects such as how sharp or how big an image can be made with a camera, or how much light is needed to make an image, or how colour will be represented. In film cameras we determine these with film format (such as 35mm, 6×6cm, 6×7cm, etc.), film type, colour balance, & speed (iso), colour temperature of the light source, and filter choices. In digital, colour temperature of the light source, white balance, sensitivity (iso), sensor size (you chose one when you bought your camera), color space, RAW vs. .jpeg, vs, .TIFF, etc. and other factors make these determinations. I’m trying to keep this brief, and I know it’s over-simplified. So, now some reading . . . / .. / I haven’t reviewed these word for word. They look good. / .. / How to use basic camera controls / Cambridge in Color’s Tutorials / Geoff Lawrence’s Free Photography Tutorials / Digital Photography School / Photoflex Lighting School (more of an advanced tutorial, and it’s aimed at selling their products, but I like it because it’s good!) / Tutorial9 (don’t know about this one, it looks interesting) / Short Courses – Using Your Camera (looks pretty basic) / About Com – Photography Basics (always a lot of info at about.com on just ‘about’ anything / Beginning Digital Photography (about SLR’s but applicable beyond that / Mark Raymond Mason’s Tutorials .. / Some other sites where you can post your work for review: / .. / Photo.net / Photocritiq / UseFilm / Betterphoto (now a paid site, but a first class one) / .. / Blogger (make your own photoblog, go solo, or allow co-authors to post with you) / .. / Some online photo-magazines I like: / .. / Shutterbug / Megapixel (English and French) / DPreview (included real-life photo samples from various cameras, many nice shots of London) / Steves Digicams / .. / Also see Sharon Mau’s Journal for a bunch more great links. (See comments below.) / .. / Learn why the smallest aperture doesn’t necessarily produce the sharpest image, here ’s true! Basic science! / ..
This is a photo I took in New York City and added some textures as well as the Bokeh Workflow Action by the extremely talented Lala Mártin
Influence of nature. Graceful curves. The wispy lines resambles branches and leaf motif on this piece. Enjoy it!

Photography by me with added texture from Apples and Sisters / I shot this through the plastic windows and they were really scratched up so this was perfect to grunge up some more. I must have looked creepy as mall security followed me around from that end of the mall and back to the other end of the mall. They didn’t say anything to me just trailed me I guess to make sure I wasn’t harming anybody. Featured in Live, Love, Dream on November 23, 2009 Homepage on November 25, 2009

Hello everybody !!! / I’m Fiery and since last year I have been using apophysis – fractal flame generator !! / My main ‘huge’ gallery is at devArt and I’m a very active member there – submitting art, writing tutorials, making resources, writing Art News, featuring many wonderful artists in my journals and ….well I know way too many people LOL… With winter season coming, we all going to be spending more time at home and more time at our computers. I got this silly idea, maybe I can ‘help-out’ with some apo things here on RB via my main account on devArt !!! For people, who use the programs I have some cool tutorials with different styles of fractals and I also have few beginners tutos, which will give you a fast crush-course in what the software does. / I’m not gonna upload those things on RB, as there is no ‘share-download’ function and you would not be able to read the tutorial file then. First lets start with software “how to’s” / apo-Install / / First lets install this program and then we can have a look inside. / The main Apophysis (with the full installation is at apophysis.org) >> Apophysis / The upgrades to Apo, usually are posted at sourceforge >> Apo-Upgrades / You can get newer versions, plugins, 3d version and the downloads are small and fast. Apo -what icon Im clicking / / This is a quick view into Apo, trying to describe what each function/icon does, this way you can learn the software faster and move on to the fun part, making fractals !!! Scripts / / When you just starting out in apo you not gonna be able to make intricate designs right from the beginning, since you will need to practice, but there is some nice tools which can help you out and they called scripts ;) This will run a set of commands, which generate a nice ‘starter’ for you and all the variations you need are placed already. There is few extra tutorials I did write, for my friends and watchers, which can help you, create half descent fractals in few different styles (I’m posting few sample thumbs to give you an idea, what type of images they will create). / You more then welcome to help yourself to them. / Crackle_on_Plastic_Script / Apo-Tuto_Spherical-Bubbles / Spiked_3D_Julian_tuto / Apo-Tuto_Disc-Julian / ! Tiles_Tuto / Click the links, they will take you directly to the tutorials Tutorial Rules for downloads: / - all tutorials are downloadable, all tutorials are copyright protected Fiery-Fire / - all of them are copyright protected (so they CAN NOT be shown, displayed, altered and reposted on any other sites by anybody else then Myself) / - if there are parameter files attached to them, you can use them and you MUST tweak them, so they don’t look like the original onces (change the math and display of the fractal, yes that includes the variations, not only the gradient). Do let Me know, if you find this useful and if you want to leave the comment here or on devArt, that will be greatly appreciated. / Until then – Happy Fractaling !!! / Click the links, they will take you directly to the tutorials
