At different states in our lives, the signs of love may vary: dependence, attraction, contentment, worry, loyalty, grief, but at the heart, the source is always the same. Human beings have the rare capacity to connect with each other, against all odds. . / . / ©2008 Globalphotos All rights reserved. / All photographs, text and images by Globalphotos are the exclusive property of Globalphotos – protected under Australian and international copyright laws. / These images may not be reproduced, copied or manipulated without written permission. / No use for Public Domain. / Use of any image for another photographic concept or illustration is a violation of copyright.

  • Old Man by the Bayou
    by Bonnie T. Barry

    US$4.99–US$114.00

I uploaded this image a few months ago but removed that one, made some changes to the original, and am resubmitting it at this time. This massive live oak which is probably several hundred years old is a testament to resilience in that the soil at its base has been eroding to the point of leaving its roots totally exposed. A man of over six feet can stand comfortably under this old oak! It really is something to see!

  • Rhyll Jetty
    by Melinda Kerr

    US$4.99–US$114.00

Rhyll is a fishing town situated on the east side of Phillip Island. Early morning the professional fishermen take off in to the icy waters of Westernport Bay and out in to the Bass Strait to catch their livelihood. At 7am, the lads were loading the boats and setting out for the journey. Phillip Island has become noticeably more populated in the last few years, with trendier and trendier holiday houses popping up in its tiny villages. However the essence of the island remains the same. The same friendliness, authenticity and toughness I used to witness as a kid coming here for the first 21 Christmases of my life still thrives. This is a raw land, with rugged coastline, pristine beaches and tough, wind tolerant coastal plants. It has a soul. Nikon D3 / 17-35mm 2.8 / Tripod

  • Shed
    by Melinda Kerr

    US$5.32–US$121.60

Why do we love old sheds? Is it because we know one day we too will be dilapidated? Is it because we yearn for older, simpler days (if indeed they ever were simpler, which I doubt)...or is it a latent respect for the elderly? / Whatever it is, I love ‘em. the texture, the colours, the stoicism… / Took this at Phillip Island, Victoria. Nikon D3 / f/16 / Tripod / 1/30s / ISO 200 / 17-35mm @ 17mm / Sunset

Back to winter on 60N… Nature can take a heck of bashing and nothing is spared during the lean season… Even my favourite maestro, [mr blackbird] has to endure the elements… However, he will return, perch on our fence to grace each sunrise & sunset come March, April. :)))

I’ve spent the majority of the past three days at the Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency annual Conference. It was a fantastic conference and well worth the time spent. Today was the last day and during a very moving presentation this doodle materialised on my notebook. I scanned the doodle in Kooka, traced the paths using Inkscape and then added the color with the GIMP (all opensource software freely available for download). I hope you like it. Cheers – dale.

  • Youthful resilience
    by Elaine Stevenson

    US$4.66–US$106.40

Location: Pisco, departamento de Ica, Perú / / This photograph was taken in November 2007 inside on of the many temporary camps that were set up in and around the city of Pisco after a major earthquake destroyed most of the city’s homes. Out of view, washing hangs to dry in the sun, a couch and some chairs form a make shift living room and office inside a large tent, and pictures hang carefully placed inside the same tent, giving a feeling of family and home. Their houses might be piles of rubble but life continues and the smiles remain. / / / 50 per cent of the artists proceeds from sales of this image on RedBubble will be donated to Hands On Disaster Response This organisation provides assistance in disaster zones during the initial stages of the emergency. HODR volunteers arrived in Pisco shortly after the earthquake and were there, helping the people of Pisco, Ica, Chincha, Paracas and Cañete til January 2008. /

  • Resilience
    by Elaine Stevenson

    US$4.66–US$106.40

In August 2007, a major earthquake devastated a number of Peruvian cities, including the city of Ica. This photograph was taken approximately four and half months after the earthquake on the day that UNICEF organised a special activity day for the thousands of children who lived in Ica. The photograph was taken while we waited for transport to go the stadium where the festivities were being held. The day itself was all about fun and games and treats for the children but reality was rather sobering, that these children had lived through something more terrifying than most people will ever see in their lives, two and half minutes where the world literally shakes buildings to pieces. / / Location: Ica, Perú / Proceeds from sales of this image will be directed to Hands On Disaster Response This organisation provides assistance in disaster zones during the initial stages of the emergency. HODR volunteers arrived in Pisco shortly after the earthquake and were there, helping the people of Pisco, Ica, Chincha, Paracas and Cañete til January 2008.
