This is Jamil and his cats. When we met him just over a year ago he had rescued over 70 cats from the streets of Kuala Lumpur, Maylasia. He is truly an amazing man, he lives in a small flat with all his cats. Most nights you can find him outside the convenience store, collecting money for his beloved companions. It is wonderful and totally unbelievable – the cats sit on the bike for about 4 hours a night without getting off. They have a special communion with Jamil and respect him. But they only listen to him in English and not Malay! If they do start to stray, he chastises them in English, and they get back on the bike again. I think there is a rota for his pussies, they take it in turns to come out for the night. If you are interested in this pic then please see my others: Kuala Lumpur Moped Cats and Cat Man Too

This is our precious fellow named “Little” Bob. So named because he was rescued along with his twin brother of which he was the smallest. During the time that we were nursing them back to health through their kitten hood, instead of giving them individual names my husband and I would just refer to them as “Little Bob” or “Big Bob”...and it stuck. / Now the two aren’t so identical though as Little Bob’s health hasn’t been that good over the past few years and an ear infection, and a hematoma that he scratched in his ear flap while we were trying to get him healthy eventually caused the one ear to droop. / Either way, he’s still precious to us and just as beautiful. Also available in a mug. Please visit my Zazzle gallery here:
A farm’s hot summer, an exploring child and his dog in beckoning hidden outerreaches, the bow of an overturned red canoe behind them in the stream. / A father runs from his pickup truck across a field in answer to their dog’s barking, to his son who’s been safely pulled from the water to the stream’s bank. I’m not sure why I painted this, but it has something to do with everything being all right after all. I wanted the trees and sky in on the emergency, a kind of frantic air that’s offset by the calmness of the waiting family dog, who knew what he was doing and how to do it. And a child who will do it all again tomorrow.

Thank you so much dear Hils – I am very grateful to have found you through Redbubble and it has been my pleasure collaborating with you ! x Thanks also to : Marcus J. Ranum of Deviant Art for Models / Stock.xchng for Background/scenery / Obsidian Dawn for Hair and Bird Brushes How it was made: / Taking 2 of Hilary’s wonderful photos House with Tower and St._ Emilion Dardogne – cut out the background from the house and steps. / Create new document in Photoshop and drag in photos onto two separate layers and position/resize to suit. (Use the perspective tool to narrow the top of the house to give it the apprearance of height). / Duplicate the turret from the steps photo and place behind the house as another layer. Remove the lower window with the eraser. / Add the models – Rapunzel and the Prince (both cutout from their backgrounds and dragged in as separate layers). Arrange Rapunzel’s layer to place it behind the turret/tower – as if she were looking out of the window. Prince placed on steps and use ‘burn’ tool to create his shadow as well as layer style – drop shadow added. / Orange box with glow placed behind Rapunzel to fill the window space behind her – hair painted onto the house layer with brushes and layer style added – shadows and glows to give depth. / Background/scenery added – another layer. Boat added on separate layer and positioned to suit. Flying birds also added. / Merge all visible layers – to ensure separate layer styles are maintained. / Flaming Pear Flood filter used to create front water and reflections. / Image brightened and colours adjusted with warm filter to unify overall appearance.
My darling Smokey was my very first rescue kitty and birthday present, May 2001. She had been found with her Mother , living on the street and the lady at Petsmart rescued them and kept them in her den while they were regaining their health. When I first brought her home, you could not pick her up. Her legs would go rigid and she would scratch and claw to be let down. It took many months before she got used to me and even longer to accept other humans. September of that year, I adopted Snowball to be her friend. Now, my beautiful and elegant Smokey is my constant companion, sleeping within the curl of my arm each night. She will tap me on the shoulder to roll over and hold her. Such a precious blessing in my life. / Smokey is an Oriental Tuxedo kitty. She is my darling honey girl who is my constant companion when I am at home Right now she is sitting on the edge of my desk just enjoying my company, looking just about like this. At night, she lets me know when it is time to settle down on the couch so that she can be a lap kitty. / This was the very first photo I took with my Nikon D200 camera nearly three years ago. Lucky passed away this morning. I still think picking him up from the school oval was the right thing to do, better he die in someones lap than alone and at the mercy of the predator birds. He could have made it so i still think its always worth rescuing than leaving. Thank you for all the wonderful encouraging comments on this post.. Yesterday i wrote…. I was driving home today from work and a woman stopped in time to let a small ball of feathers run out from under her wheels. she tried to catch it, but it ran onto the school oval with ravens at 200 meters away – eeek! There were no parent birds around for this baby native wood duck, the ravens would have got him/her in one swoop! Lucky was so vulnerable out there on the oval with predators and no protection, so i picked it up and took it home – our first duckling rescue!
These are five of my ferrets trying to all fit in one hanging sleep sack and they did it. They are all tiny little girls, clockwise from top is Lillie, then Tosca, not sure if that is Hannah or my little Emma that I lost (white ferret), then there’s Chloe and Miley is in the middle. This sleep sack is made to comfortably hold 1-2 ferrets, but they sometimes pile in all together, sometimes in the hammocks they all just pile on. This photo was taken at least a year ago, but they still do this all the time. There are plenty of sleep sacks, hammocks, round beds, etc., to sleep in, they just want the same one. All five of these ferrets are rescues from Texas Ferret Lovers Rescue! I am submitting this one for the “Too Much” challenge in the Mood & Ambience group.

She was hard to look at; this emaciated foal with wounds covering most of her lanky body. In some places, the bones of her legs were clearly visible where pieces of her flesh have been torn away…... We got MacKenzie from Pacific Pug Rescue in Portland. She was found in Bend Oregon and only about 10 lbs (pugs should be about 15-17 lbs). They figured she was about 10 months old and had a liter. When they found her there were no puppies to be found. She’s been with us now for nearly 3 years. Rescued Baby Plover stepping up onto the windowsill
Two of my rehab babies posing after they’d had their formula. Notice the wet legs. If I tried to take their picture before they ate, they would be leaping on me before I could shoot. They went free in early 2009 after being wintered-over. The nice thing about rehabbing squirrels is that they wild-up so fast. Praline and Candy were released in eastern NC.
