We’ve received a lot of feedback over quite a few weeks about the need to introduce upload limits on RedBubble and the importance of quality. So here’s an idea that we’ve been bouncing around for a while that I’d like to open up for feedback and discussion. When people first join RedBubble they are allocated a ‘gallery’ of a certain size (say 10 works). Works in the gallery would appear in the art | clothing | writing sections of RedBubble. As a person’s work is recognized by the community with comments and favourites the person is allocated a larger gallery (20, 50 and then 100 works). In conjunction with this idea we’d look to implement a ‘studio’. A studio is an area where people could upload as many works as they liked, but these works wouldn’t appear in the art | clothing | writing sections of the site. The studio would be part of a person’s mybubble space – and people would still be able to purchase works from the studio. We’re also looking to update the upload process to provide more guidance on what sort of work is appropriate for RedBubble. That is, RedBubble is a site for your best work – but it’s not an elite only site. Your thoughts are welcome.

  • Paolo Nutini. The singer / songwriter from Scotland. I love his music and his laid back, soulful style.

  • / . / I had some requests of a portrait shot of my photo entitled “Luna over Luna Park”. Luckily, I had taken the shot. I’m not great at giving photos titles, hence the title for this one. This was taken on the same night of my other photos “Luna Over Luna Park”, “Luna Harbour” and “Luna PANORAMA”. The photos were taken in quite quick succession. I attempted to combine the full moon, with the Sydney Harbour Bridge. You might be interested in viewing the other photos because this is in Portrait, two are in Landscape, and one PANORAMA. It’s amazing how a similar subject can be photographed in slightly different ways, and produce different results. I will interested in knowing which of the four is you favourite !

  • Yes, technically, he should be called the ‘Grim Mopper’ since he has a mop in his hand, but it just doesn’t have the same effect! This is a custom design created for Marc Evens. Read his description and you will understand! ;) I made two, one with eyes and one without…Marc requested eyes….but I’m kinda diggin’ the no eye version too! :) For more cool products featuring the Grim Sweeper, click HERE!

  • Just a quick upload of an older D70 shot I took about 18 months ago. Although I’ve already included a few from this series, I had 3 specific requests during my recent working stay in nearby Karratha to add this one to my portfolio here (from those I sent email to of my pics from that trip at the time) . So anyway, here it is! Taken from Dampier foreshore at dusk when the sky was doing all the right things. The colours haven’t been touched…only edits being some slight cropping to remove the dark edges of my old Cokin grad filter (which didn’t work well with the wide angle) and fixed up a couple of dirty marks from the lens. Thanks for any interest in advance… / Cheers, / Matt

  • Asking for your prayers and good thoughts

It’s the middle of the night, and I sit awake. Praying, hoping, begging, bargaining with God, with the universe, with angels, with anyone who will listen (at least in my own head) – anything to feel that I can help my son recover fully and to ease his pain. It occurred to me that there is a huge network of people here that I’ve come to know and respect who may take a bief moment today to send their positive energy, their prayers, a tiny bit of their own good karma his way. I’m asking that now. On Thursday morning, my son Nick, 18 and recently graduated from high school, headed off for a day trip to Cedar Point, an amusement park in Ohio, with his friends. They had an auto accident; their van went off the highway on an exit ramp and rolled a number of times down an embankment. Thankfully, all the kids survived and six of them walked away with cuts, bruises, one broken bone among them, and an intense scare. However, Nick was severely injured. The most frightening of the damage – two burst fractures of vertebrae in his thoracic spine. He’ll have surgery Monday morning to repair those, after surgery today (or I guess it was yesterday at this point) to repair and stabilize a broken arm, clavicle and dislocated shoulder. The good news is that his spinal cord is still intact and he’s currently immobilized in the hospital to prevent damage until they get things put back together tomorrow. He’s in considerable pain, but talking and still making us all laugh somehow (my son is a very funny guy, according to the hospital staff and everyone who knows him). And so, here I am in a hotel room in Toledo at 4:00 AM, praying and worrying, while my son is hopefully drugged to the gills and having some respite from the pain he’s been experiencing. If you can send a good thought his way this morning and tomorrow, I’d be grateful. No good wishes can hurt, right?

  • A drawing request I did for a friend of her Boxer.

  • There is a very sweet and touching story behind this tee. I created this for a Martin, who has a friend who has cancer. During her recovery she got this tattoo that says ‘Memento’, latin for ‘Memento vivere’ which means ‘Remember to live’. She has a very positive thinking towards life which I find to be very rare from most people these days. SInce I have been watched for cancer myself since April of 2007, I was honored to do this picture for him. I truly hope she enjoys the gift! This is for you, Louise!

  • I have been working with the Sparrows on Unseen for quite a while. There have been many requests for individual paintings and healing. As you can imagine all this takes a long time and I am finding it very difficult to try and embrace everything, within the confines of time. As I feel that a great number of people need support and encouragement, and after a lengthy discussion with the Sparrows I have to inform everyone that I won’t be able to respond to comments as frequently as I have been. I appreciate everyone who has supported and inspired me over the last few months. I do however feel that Healing Paintings are more important at this moment in time. I hope you all understand. If anyone needs healing or wishes to request a painting then please remember that my Healing Painting Days are Friday’s and a request should be sent to Unseen, known as the Sparrows. • When I think of England my mind goes straight to the days of corseted, uptight, tea drinking, society climbing women and their frigid men…. (think I read too many Jane Austin books in my youth) This is my version of that day for us to wear without the pain of it! White for the lovely SoxyFlemming!

  • As per a dear friend’s papermusic request, I have put this onto a photo faded, so it could be purchased as a card… Have to be grateful to RB for featuring this piece, as that is how it got noticed to do this ;) An ultimate reality believed from insightful gifts / Visions from Creator and my contemplative spirit uplifts The reason I was born, a puzzle pieced with forgiveness divine / An expression of creativity connected, unrelated to bloodline My greater purpose courses through the veins of my past / As surroundings are experienced with intimate contrast I am meant to serve by transforming perceptions ignored / So that rites of passage are lived with a valued, inner reward A deep satisfaction as I personally grow to share / That making a difference in the world is love in prayer Each new breath of gratitude I’ll weave within nature / With discernment, not judgment to specific nomenclature No monastery, castle or dogmatic school of thought / Just peace, love and devotion within, eternally walked and talked. • I’ve wanted to a piece showing the work(s) and people that I admire here on Redbubble for a while now. So I decided to Bmail everyone in my favorites list with the same request: Dear (favorite), / I’m currently thinking about producing a new piece of artwork for Redbubble and I want to feature screen grabs/screen shots of the work in my favourites list (3 to 4 pages in total), in the thumbnail/list view in some way or another… not completely sure yet. / Obviously your fine example(s) of work feature(s) in my list, so I would like to know if you are happy for me to include it or not?
The screen grabs will obviously be at low resolution so when they’re included in the finished artwork they would not be particularly sharp.. I just want to use them as part of the overall concept. / It is going to be a piece (I think…maybe!) loosely to do with copyright/copyright infringement, maybe censorship….?
If you are not happy for me to use the thumbnail, that’s no problem at all as it will/may form part of the design (the censorship bit…. maybe… blanked out?) / As you can tell it’s a thought in progress – if I get a negative response it’ll be back to the drawing board! / Obviously all of you (if any) will get a mention/link to your original piece of work that I’ve favourited…. maybe, even the people who don’t want their work to appear (the blanked out work) in the artwork itself will still get a link to their piece…? / If you don’t want your work, your name or anything else to be used in any way whatsoever please let me know – I will completely respect your reasons for this and leave it completely out; blanked out or otherwise. / I’m emailng everyone in my favourites list with the same request so I guess it might take a while before I can even start the artwork.
If it all goes to plan and I’m reasonably happy with the finished result, I could even send you a copy of the artwork before it goes live just so you can approve it…. please let me know if you want this I’d prefer not to do this though as the work will obviously have already been done! I would rather know at the outset weather or not you don’t mind me doing it. / It could well be a rubbish piece of work in the end and never go live… I’d like to give it a go though! / Thanks for your time and I look forward to you reply, / Kind regards,
Nathan (Naf4d) I got a great response and most of my favorites were 100% behind me.
