They are best known for the covers of best-selling science fiction books, album covers, and video box art (amazing work) among other presentations of their unique and surreal visions. In their most unusual and amazing style, they have created otherworldy photographs in a surreal world that is beyond imagination. “The gardens that make us happiest flourish because we have taken the time to make sure they feed our souls and fill a special place in our lives. Sometimes you have to think about what you really want from your garden…once the beds are laid out and the rose bushes planted. Lindley Karstens (1961) American ArtistF

  • This series of flowers photographed using a macro lens is influenced by the hyper-representational paintings of Boris Vallejo and his wife Julie Bell. In their book The Fantasy of Flowers, Boris and Julie bring their extraordinary and unique vision to flower photography, uncovering a secret life of flowers that is inspirational. I hope to reveal a world of beauty by adding my own vision to create a new universe that unfolds to the eye of the camera and then to my own. Few things in nature are as versatile as flowers. I am often amazed by the delicacy of their sometime abstract and symmetrical design. Then I look closer and again am mesmerized by the richness, texture and variety color.I like to present the beauty of nature from an intimate point of view. “To analyze the charms of flowers is like dissecting music;it is one of those things which is far better to enjoy, than to attempt to understand.” / Henry T. Tuckerman (1813-1871) / American essayist. /

  • Inspired by my musician statues, I created this portrait of them using acrylic on canvas. The red tint to their instruments symbolize the passion that they are putting into their ministrations, emphasized by the lack of color in their bodies—if it were not for their contrast against the white background, they would fade into it, behind their music.

  • Something different from me… / A photo I took at «Le Jardin Botanique de Montreal» when 4 musicians were giving a small representation. In both pictures the young man seemed so concentrated and in love with the music.I took another picture that day calledClassic Music / An experience I did,I put up the whites, darked it,printed it and scanned it to make it look more like an illustration.A cool card for music lovers. / / / / /

  • Two representations of leaves. / Plate 1: created with a blade cut into cardboard in a decorative style / Plate 2: created with real plants layered with heaps of resin. / Plate 1 was relief printed and allowed to dry. / Plate 2 was intaglio printed on top of the first plate via a stencil to get the squarish outline. / Edition 12 (aaahhhhh! What an exercise in discipline for me!) Printed on 300gsm Hahnemulle paper

  • Cats and people, share a common trait. While going for the brass ring they often get caught up in our own tales uh tails. However unlike people, the cat never gives up or loses his cool! I admire that about cats. Brass Ring Kitty keeps a cool blue head, even when the tails/tales get hot. You just know, when patience meets opportunity, he will grab that brass ring for all its worth! Done in corals, reds and blue hues, the contemporary cubism style lends a sense of motion, both past and future, while still making room for the stillness, patience sometimes requires. About this piece: / Size: 11×14 / Sub strait: 140 lb Bristol Vellum / Media: Color pencil, and marker / Style: Modern Cubism, abstract, representational / Original: available Note: The colored pencil is applied layer upon layer to build up deep, vibrant color saturation an effect similar to the renaissance glazing techniques used by the old masters.

  • Sometimes the only one there for you is you. We need to find solace in ourselves instead of trying to find it in others….

  • The imagery in this rock art abstract is rich in detail, color, / texture and imagery. Please view this in the large format / to appreciate the intricate detail. This is a great piece / for you to project what you perceive. Remember the / more you look, the more you will see. When I return / to an abstract, the beauty of non representational / art is that everytime you view the piece, you will / see another image. I find the process of / abstract “Rorschachs” fascinating in clinical practice / and art. The crimson and blues are often used in / Asian paintings. My first perception was a dog with orange ears / and brown eyes. What do you think is a good title for this piece?

  • Trying so hard. I step across a pebble with caution and push the car door open. I listen to one song and then turn the channel with one hand and roll down the window with the other. I try to get a broken lighter to work and wonder if I will make it through a green light. The harder I try to concentrate, the more difficult it becomes to breathe. Signs pass in swift glaring sweeps of color. Streets loom ahead in billowing threads like ribbons in wind. Thoughts of stories that take place in the window of a passing theater that has been deserted for as long as I remember. The “For Rent” signs dance around pidgeons and painted Aztec murals and tree branches leaning over carved facades of stone that entomb the isolated furniture sales people between sheets of plastic wood and fabric woven by women who are starved. I wonder. I wait. I stop and go and am not sure if I am doing it at the right time. Is it just that I’m tired. Am I trying too hard. Is it a brain wave that has been molested by the outside world of humans, forced to stop gliding through the free-flowing space of dreams and crayolas and paper and knives and dribbles of dots and dashes onto carpets of crystal and flower petals and snow and driftwood and hard, ebony stones. / I wander to the glass and concrete cave. I long to return to the womb of art and play and thought and song. I slow and put my blinker on. / A black Mercedes swerves around me to the right side as if the auto were a sword. The dark haired women who forces her head out the half open window squeezes her face into a knot and her mouth is torn flesh. / “Stop putting your brakes on, asshole,” she shouts and races past, up the street toward a street light that glares with the same bright red as her lips. / I shake. / “Well I suppose it’s time to wake up,” I say to myself. / I was trying so hard to be in the now that I drifted into the caves of my imagination. Better check that at the door. Along with my soul.

  • WHITE ROSE / Best viewed large. / / Significance: Purity, Innocence, Sympathy, Spirituality / / / “WHITE ROSE” was FEATURED in the group AW WELCOME CENTER / / / / / “WHITE ROSE” was FEATURED in the group IMAGE WRITING / / / / “WHITE ROSE” was FEATURED In the group FIRST THINGS / / / This was the first white rose I received this year, and it was / in a gorgeous, lavender vase with eleven other beautiful roses in my Mother’s Day bouquet. / / / With its pristine appearance, the white rose has come to symbolize purity, innocence and secrecy. There are myths and legends from several different cultures relating to the origin of the first rose which is initially white in color and is then miraculously transformed. Oftentimes the pure white rose was depicted as being stained by blood, or made to blush from a kiss. The recurrence of this theme does a great deal to establish the white rose as a symbol for purity. Early traditions used white roses as a symbol for true love, an association which would later become the hallmark of the red rose. White roses continue to endure and retain their symbolism of innocence, and they are used to express many things. Also known as the bridal rose, the white rose is a traditional wedding flower. In this sense, they are a representation of unity, virtue, and the pureness of a new bond of love. White roses are also a symbol for young love, and makes them ideal for marriages. Bridal bouquets are often comprised of white roses and other white flowers. White roses are also associated with honor and reverence, which makes them a fitting memorial for a departed loved one. Funeral and sympathy arrangements traditionally incorporate white roses as a part of the tribute. As a symbol of remembrance, the white rose represents heavenliness and is an expression of spiritual love and respect. . White roses can mean many things to many different people. They can symbolize new beginnings, or be a sign of farewell. They can convey feelings of love, friendship, respect and hope. Underlying all of these messages is the impression of innocence and purity with which white roses are now synonymous. Arrangements of white roses are most beautiful, but they can carry a mystery or a complexity that belies its simpler beauty. Whatever the reason white roses are given, they will surely be deeply appreciated! Information obtained here on the WHITE ROSE / / Photo shot with my Canon EOS 40D camera.
