  • Side shot of an awesome 1939 Ford streetrod at the 2006 Streetrod Nationals in Louisville, KY, USA. Shot hand-held on a very bright sunny day. Camera: 20D, Lens EF 24-70mm f2.8 L (Canon), 1/100sec, F5, ISO 100 @24mm focal length and also use a circular polarizing filter to cut down on some of the glare and add to the depth of the color and contrast. • I love this image because it’s a reminder to me that daily life and worship are not separate entities but more like two hands folded in prayer, a prayer that flows like a peaceful melody from sunup to sundown and throughout the night in wonderful continuity and harmony. Taken at Acadian Village in Lafayette, Louisiana.

  • My town ( Newcastle ) had it’s annual Maritime Festival today, and as a part of the celebration it had a nautical display. The HM Bark Endeavour Replica is a Tall Ship that is a replica of the ship that captain Cook used in the late 18th century to discover Australia. This is taken from the Harbour Foreshore at Newcastle East – at the end part of the Hunter River untouched, using a 6 MP Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-S500. • Here is the description of New Hope Chapel at Acadian Village in Lafayette, Louisiana, taken from the website of this landmark: “The New Hope Chapel is a replica of an 1850 chapel. The architects were Don Breaux and Robert Barras. It was built through the efforts of the Knights of Columbus and opened for the Bicentennial. The ceiling was built of cypress and is held up by pegs. The floor was made of Louisiana long leaf pine that is about 200 years old. There is only one original pew; it is 150 years old. The rest are copies, made by Mr. Whitney Breaux. The Stations of the Cross were hand carved with chisel, knife and hammer by a local sculptor, Mr. Lester Duhon. The main altar was the type used before Vatican Council II. It originally served St. Anne’s church in Youngsville, Louisiana, and later St. Joseph’s in Milton, Louisiana. It was donated to the Village by Mrs. Jules Hebert of Milton. The side altar (Last Supper scene) is a gift from an anonymous donor who left it on the porch of the general store.” In a time when hope is low with failing economies world-wide, with natural disasters such as the Australian fires, with clash of ideologies and separation of humanity into dissenting camps of opinion, I offer this image in prayer for NEW HOPE for us all.

  • Over the years, a variety of people, cultures, and species have been given credit for the building of Stonehenge. Some of the most legendary figures trying to take responsibility have included: / Giants: According to old myths, dancing giants were caught in a sunbeam and petrified to stone, causing the monument to be nicknamed the “Giant’s Ring”. The stones were also believed to have healing power. / Merlin and King Arthur: Some believe Merlin himself assembled Stonehenge to commemorate slain chieftains. It’s also rumored that the Sword in the Stone, which would eventually lead Arthur onto the throne and into legend, was made from Stonehenge Stones. / Aliens: Most of the world’s earliest and most elaborate crop circles are found within a forty-mile (64km) radius of Stonehenge. Scientists today are unable to replicate crop circles, suggesting that their construction and that of Stonehenge should perhaps be credited to a more intelligent species. / Atlanteans: According to Plato, the Kingdom of Atlantis controlled the islands of the Atlantic and built many stone structures to better predict future events based on astronomical calculations. Given the fate of Atlantis, which supposedly sank into the sea, it’s debatable how accurate their predictions could have been. / Druids: John Aubrey, a Stonehenge scholar, erroneously suggested this connection three centuries ago. The Druids are an earth-based faith that we now have formed much later than the building of Stonehenge. The Druids do celebrate the summer solstice, same as Stonehenge’s true builders, and they have recently made it a tradition to incorporate this ancient monument into current rituals. / The Beaker Folk from 2500 BC are believed to have done some of the work on Stonehenge. They were an aggressive culture that invaded the Salisbury Plain. From artifacts, we know that the Beakers were sophisticated, organized, understood mathmatics, worshipped the Sun, and celebrated the solstices. This makes them ideal builders for some of the site. / The other cultures that contributed to Stonehenge remain a mystery, though archaeologists are getting closer and closer to finding answers. This is a photograph of a full scale replica of Stonehenge that was erected as a WWI memorial by Sam Hill, in Maryhill, WA which overlooks the mighty Columbia River and Mount Hood. The photograph of the Full Moon was also taken by myself in October 2008, the two were merged and edited in photoshop7 with Redfield plug-in for the rippled water effect. Stonehenge

  • The first stage of the terraformation of the planet, Ioloscerai, has been completed with the new topography unmistakably resembling the old planet Earth. Seen here is a rooftop shot looking past the tower of the newly completed Grand Hotel towards the Nepean Mountains. / Construction of the new city of Technopolis, some one hundred kilometres from our present position, is now complete. More to follow as Stage Two is completed. / Bookings for the 300-room hotel are still a little difficult to secure but should be right by the end of the present month. / It was agreed, after a lot of debate, to leave the old Ioloescerain moons in their original orbits even though, obviously, they don’t quite fit the Earth replication. Created in Artmatic Voyager with original photographic elements (tower, roofs and cloud) except for the moons, which again, are courtesy of NASA. Crescents and figures created in GroBoto.
