Earth Medicine is based on the Native American Medicine Wheel, which honors the Circle of Life and holds all paths as sacred. This ancient knowledge is about our connection to the earth and all her beings. The Goose is the symbol for the cycle called ‘The Renewal Time’….the first cycle of winter. This cycle runs from December 22-January 19….the related sun sign is Capricorn. The Ouroboros often represents self-reflexivity or cyclicality, constantly re-creating itself, cycles that begin anew as soon as they end. The ouroboros eats its own tail to sustain its life, in an eternal cycle of renewal. Sound familiar? The phoenix (Ancient Greek: Φοῖνιξ, phoínix) is a mythical bird with a 1,000 year life-cycle. near the end the phoenix builds itself a nest of cinnamon twigs that it then ignites; both nest and bird burn fiercely and are reduced to ashes, from which a new, young phoenix or phoenix egg arises. Is it a coincidence to find myths and symbols echoing through the ages, through different continents, cultures and spiritualities? Could they represent a dynamic that has and still does exist in the world? Something to think about…

As the seasons change so do the times in our live’s. So many of us experience hard times and times of darkness where we can’t see or feel the light at the end. Even when we are surrounded in a room full of people we sometimes feel all alone. Unless we have gone through this ourselves we can’t understand it. But just as seasons change,we do change and we grow. Our winter may be a little longer than one winter season here on earth but inside we grow and blossom again into a new creation and come out the other end with hope and a new creation inside of us. / I hope that wherever you are in this season in your life, feeling alone, that you will know someday you will come out of the cocoon feeling newness and life and that if you are already out that you will recognize that lonliness in someone else and give them a smile or an extra hug. created with a Canon 40d / There is always a purpose and you will live with meaning again:)

Another of my quick drawings from my journal that I scanned, cleaned up and then coloured in PS. This time i played around with halftones as the colouring for the pebbles/circles. I used both the bitmap way of half toning as well as a PS halftone filter. So because of the halftone’s… depending on the colour of the tee you choose, the design will look slightly different on each.
