Well, I started a series of digital renders that revolve around a huge biomechanical tree that has several strange floating creatures orbiting it. Of course, there is a short story about it too, although that needs a looooooot of tunning. Here are the two “scenes” so far: Close up of the Servants of the Techno Tree Branches of the Techno Tree I might add a third to make a trilogy (you just can’t have a series of pics without a trilogy ;D) As a final note, I reuploaded the “Branches…” one as I noticed I screwed it up with the sun flare and the axis of the horizonal blue line was totally bad when I zoomed in. The sky clouds looked pretty awful as well (too white and “plain”). I also added the rebuilt flying creatures, which look way better than the originals. The use of raytraced shadows for the sake of fluff and quality is yet another improvement.

If you want, you can watch the rendering on my fractal “darkside” here This, again, uses the program Context Free to recursively draw the design. It can save the image by rendering to any size (or a video).

I’ve decided to branch out into other types of fields. Im always trying to think of ways to market myself without spending a fortune, but arent we all! LOL / I started to create statue like art pieces recently, and it dawned on me that somewhere perhaps someone is looking for new and innovated designs, to make into real sculptures/statues. / I would love to bring these creation ideas to life, of course I would retain the copyright design end of it but perhaps a collaboration between an artist and a sculpturer work make for a fine business venture. / If anyone knows how I can approach such people in that field please email me with info. I’d really appreciate it. Here’s a direct link to see some of my designs up close so far: Sculpture & Statue Designs for Licensing Fee Thank you / Lisa

There are a lot of books out there that describe how to use specific applications like photoshop, Maya and 3DS Max. But what if those aren’t the apps on your computer? One book I found at my local library that is an excellent resource for any digital artist, whether you are a beginner or an experienced artist and whether it be 3D or 2D is Jeremy Birn’s “Digital Lighting & Rendering”. This book describes almost all aspects of creating 3D art without being platform or application specific. It covers some basics of modeling, uvmapping, texturing, rendering layers and masks while focusing primarily on lighting, which is often an overlooked component which can make or break an image. The author also describes the correlations between digital/3D lights and real-world lights and how to make 3D lights create the same effects in a scene that real light would, which makes this an excellent resource for traditional artists and photographers who are breaking into 3D. More details of the book can be seen at http://www.3drender.com/light/index.html / There are also a collection of tutorials and “Lighting Challenge Scenes” available for download to help you experiment with lighting and rendering at the web site.

I have been working all day on trying to learn more about this programme….and have achieved some good results…BUT…when I rendered my first image, it’s been saved with a black background. For the past 6 – 8 months I have been saving them with transparent backgrounds, enabling me to layer one on top of another when I open them in PSP X. / My problem is…I can’t remember how I managed to get the transparent backgrounds. I know it wasn’t difficult…but the tutorial I got the info from is now no longer available. If anyone out there can help me I would be absolutely delighted and indebted to you….hugs, hugs and more hugs to anyone who can help me :-)

At first, dear friends, I thought there was something wrong with my / eyes. I would set up an Apophysis render, let it run then look at the / final output and wonder why it looked so dark. Today, after months of working with the program in an attempt to / learn as many of its secrets as possible on my own before resorting / to tutorials, I finally figured it out. It seems Apo renders at 2/3rds / the brightness of the preview window! Whether this was deliberate / on the programmer’s part, or a beta “bug”, only the final release of / 2.08 will tell. Unfortunately, when I set up the render I was so proud of for a new / run, with the brightness corrected for the fault and a larger size and / finer quality, I found I was most likely in for a run that will take most / of next week to complete, if not more! Hence…the title of this post…sigh. But stubborn me, I’m going to let it run anyway, just to see if I am / right and it will look like I wished it to this time. Current Apo time:... 558hrs00min23sec and counting… Stay tuned for Monday’s report.

well..i’m so happy its friday..i’m overtired… / but at least I can rest a bit on the weekend..maybe..I will be going to a hockey game on sunday… / and tomorrow will be running around grocery shopping etc. / and cleaning… / perhaps i’ll spend some time creating… / no..I have not given up photography…I will continue to take photos.I just haven’t had the time or well the opportunity to go out taking photos recently so I’m teaching myself how to create new works of art…both dark and light…although I do have fun creating the dark art..and will continue.. I do like to challenge myself and once I saw some of the works on here I wanted to create some of my own as well. I did download daz studio and install it and am slowly teaching myself how to render my own characters ..but in the meantime I have found some cool sites to get my tubes from… / I have been inspired by the following members :- / krwdesigns / you should check out her work there is a link to her website in her profile. / Kerry..as well as several other artists on this site such as my friend Laura / dawnsky / and I really like Lisa Weber’s stuff too you can see her here / lisa weber I’m sure there are lots of other artists on here that do inspire me as well, but those are the main 3 and I have all 3 on my watchlist. / go check them out! I promise to go back to photography soon :-)

Well just posted 3 new fractals rendered in Bryce. See how they go in the one group – although I only submitted 2 of them to the one group as the third is quite abstract. Red crystal got in. Maybe it was just the names or something… In any event I like to name them in a series as I generate the objects or flames or whatever. Maybe I should give them individual names for clarity sakes. Well had a good day looking at art all over the place here. Lots of very talented people on here. I like to poke around and see what I can find. Well I am off for lunch and shopping… L8R all :)

Don’t be surprised if you see some Traditional artworks floating around which were done after some of my Self Portraits. I’ve given permission to the group Bubbler Portraits to use me as a model reference for an upcoming Challenge Some photographers don’t want people doing this. But I generally allow people to use my self portraits as references as long as they ask permission first and credit me. The reason being, Traditional art such as drawing and painting is very unique and different from photography. I in no way consider it copying my work, unless they were tracing my image and not being creative with it. I don’t consider this Stock or me giving my work away to be used as Stock, because I don’t allow photo manipulations, collages or other forms of art to be done with my photography. Only Traditional Art. So far it’s been really cool to see different renderings of my self portraits and it’s cool to know I helped the creative process along. However I usually don’t give permission for my photography which was done with a different model or with other people involved, since the work then also belongs to them. And requires their permission. Here are some Traditional Artworks which people have done using my Self Portraits as references: / These people were given my specific permission to use my images and anyone involved in that group challenge has my permission.

I am still somewhat sick…now I have a danged..cough thats driving me insane..not sure what I hate worse…sneezing or coughing? or …being stuffed up…its a tie I think. / I was at work all week although wasn’t feeling that great either. But I made it thats what counts. I’ve done a few more halloween renders that you may see shortly …only photos i’ve been taking are all hockey…so nothing exciting to put up and the hockey season keeps me busy. Unless I travel someplace there’s only hockey and perhaps cats..for photos… / so I may do a few renders..especially now that halloween is coming.
