“Have a think…. Would you take anything from him?? He has a cherub like face but is he good or evil?? I will let you decide”. This was a photo taken of my oldest son about 1 year ago, I was bored today so I decided to have a play with it. It’s definitely different from my other work but a change can be good sometimes :o)

performing art A1 / . / . / . / . I have seen different interpretations about this photo, which are quite surprising and interesting too :)) It’s lovely to see what and how people are perceiving in front of an image and expression from different knowledge and culture backgrounds.

Never thought to upload this one as an actual artwork, until a friend asked to see it larger. What I like about it, is the expression is open to interpretation. It is many things at once, (sadness, determination, subordination, deep thought) and at the same time, none at all. / Also went for a renaissance-style chiaroscuro effect on this one…

Wedding photography, imitating the dressing style of that between 1920s to 1940s. It’s also noticeable that they used the wall of an old hu-tong (an ancient city alley or lane) as background. The 1930s was the golden age of Chinese literature and art. Some researchers call it the Renaissance of Chinese Culture. Actually that happened when many Chinese who studied in the West went back to China and combined the western and Chinese culture together. They were the first Chinese who advocated liberal views in China. The movement came to an end when Japanese invaded and brought about many human disasters to China. Just for example, Zha-bei district of Shanghai was then the most prosperous area in Asia, but it was completely destroyed by Japanese air bombardment. During the war universities were evacuated. Chinese intellectuals had to lead a vagrant life to escape the bloodthirsty Japanese troops. It should be mentioned that Mr. Zhu Sheng-hao translated many Shakespeare’s plays when he wandered from place to place. They are the best Chinese translation so far.

a peculiar wooden castle near the dutch town of hilversum, built in 1672 by the dutch naval hero cornelis tromp. Built on the site of a medieval stronghold, destroyed by the french, this palace was built to resemble a ship. Indeed it seems to float on the water.

Natasha Normans artistic practise is concerned with symbolism: how society creates symbols, how symbols communicate ideas to us and why some symbols have become heirlooms that are passed down the generations. Advertising’s visual language has become a very real part of communication in our society today. Natasha uses its language to communicate abstract notions, in a sense to tap into a contemporary symbolic code and use it to evoke more archaic wisdom. self portrait June 12th 2008 I wonder how Boticelli would paint me?
renaissance – information provided by wikipedia:
The Renaissance (from French Renaissance, meaning "rebirth"; Italian: Rinascimento, from re- "again" and nascere "be born") was a cultural movement that spanned roughly the 14th through the 17th century, beginning in Italy in the late Middle Ages and later spreading to the rest of Europe. It encompassed a revival of learning based on classical sources, the development of linear perspective in painting, and educational reform. The Renaissance saw developments in most intellectual pursuits, but is perhaps best known for its artistic aspect and the contributions of such polymaths as Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo, who have inspired the term "Renaissance men".RedBubble is a great place to find art, design, photos and writing from over 50,000 talented people.
