“A cemetery exists because every life is worth loving and remembering – always.” / -William Gladstone Sandwich Old Burying Ground-Sandwich, Massachusetts
UP_DATE, again…..it was never worked on again and has continued to be one of my paintings that people comment on. 742 views, at this stage. Based on a slide that I took, when I was teaching in Bourke, in the far north-west of New South Wales. These two boys were standing near the house where I was boarding (called: The Old Gaol), beside the Darling River. —-- Progress report, here! / ... / I shall start a new one for the last class for this term (?), at Hazelhurst and take this one with me for advice on the finishing touches. / .... / UP-DATE: Started a new painting, featuring the other boy, in my slide, taken in 1968. / FURTHER UPDATE: Was part of the About A Man, exhibition, curated by Steve McLaren. / Will feature in the Remembering – an antholy exhibition. Tap Gallery, Darlinghurst. 6-12 October, 2008.

Something in this composite reminded me of an old photograph. One of my first experiment with textures.
..and it seems like yesterday that you were here. / Laughter filled the house, and love spilled from your eyes, / and I was happy. I see this place, it’s not the same. The / aching in my heart threatens to pull me under, and sorrow spills / from my eyes..and I am torn. I remember you. And I will always / remember you.. / / / / Dedicated to anyone who has lost someone near Christmas time. / Tomorrow, I will be going to the cememtary, and placing / fresh flowers on my Father’s grave, as I do every Christmas. / As Lumineaux said, not everybody is “happy” this time of year. / But Life does go on! And our loved ones would want us to be / happy too. :) Hope you all have a wonderful day tomorrow! / / / (taken today, at the abandoned farmhouse..)
i took this over at rosehill quarry, and it made me think about how many people have sat here thinking and enjoying the veiw or maybe holding hands with a loved one drinking tea.
Small but beautiful – and useful too. Wear this ‘post-it’ note t-shirt on a day when you need to remember something. Just don’t forget what that something is!

Happiness comes of the capacity to feel deeply, to enjoy simply, to think freely, to risk life, to be needed. Storm Jameson (1891 –1986)
There is a very sweet and touching story behind this tee. I created this for a Martin, who has a friend who has cancer. During her recovery she got this tattoo that says ‘Memento’, latin for ‘Memento vivere’ which means ‘Remember to live’. She has a very positive thinking towards life which I find to be very rare from most people these days. SInce I have been watched for cancer myself since April of 2007, I was honored to do this picture for him. I truly hope she enjoys the gift! This is for you, Louise!

“Wisdom is not forgotten – it lives on in those who remember…” 12×16-inch – Water-soluble oils on wood panel
A character study for an album cover and inspired by musician PJ Harvey. This sketch carries symbolic elements, / the string and knot on the finger – memory and remembering, / ‘bloody hole in chest where heart ought to be’ – represents outpouring of emotion, this contrasts the serene expression on the girl’s face. Despite the emotional elements in this sketch, I also find it empowering, as the wounds of life only make us stronger. Crystal Thomas
