  • On the edge of the Simpson Desert, Molly Clarke who now lives in Alice Springs set about restoring the station for travellers to enjoy and learn about our early Australian history. / The propery now has a heritage listing and visitors have camping facilies on site. / Taken on Fuji S2 Pro

  • A Roman Temple that captures the spirit of forgotten dreams over 2000 years ago.

  • Old break waters at Zeally Bay in Torquay. Taken on the 20th of January, 2008.

  • Captured on an Indian Reservation in New Mexico, I have always loved 49-51 Ford Coupe’s…rare, they make one of the best Kustoms ever…and if I coulda found the owner and had a tow truck, I would have towed this all the way back home to Colorado with me! What a scene…...processed in HDR…thoughts welcomed!

  • This is the Temple Church in Bristol. / Temple Church is so-called because the original church was built by the Knights Templar. The Templars, a society of soldier-monks, was formed during the time of the Crusades to defend the Holy Sepulchre and guard pilgrims travelling to Jerusalem. They had been granted land across the Avon from Bristol by Robert, Earl of Gloucester in the mid-12th Century. HDR and colour work in PS. Comments welcome! Thanks, / Al

  • Amongst many relics on old farm in country Victoria. Wouldn’t it be great to have the time and money to bring these old vehicles back to life.

  • This is a composite of about a half dozen images. The foreground is the surface of an avocado, the sky texture is a macro shot of a dirty old feather duster and the idol I found in the backstreets of Fitzroy.

  • This image started as a 3d concept environment using Vue Infinite software – hand painted details were added in Painter, with lighting and coloring completed in Photoshop. Thanks for viewing! :)

  • Early home around Mannum South Australia. / Canon 400D – 18-55mm lense with Polariser, merged in Photomatix, cropped in CS2

  • Combination one room school house, church, community building, and town hall. These structures are scattered through out the Ozark Mountains, and the foothills of Arkansas. Sooooooo…... These types of scenes are very familiar to me, living here in the good ol’ natural state. My very first years of school began in a one room school house almost identical to this one, and it is now long gone.. When I look at this photograph, I can still see us all running, and playing in the school yard, and hear all of our laughter, and screaming. All the sounds of the children playing, as we went along in our merry, carefree younger days. I remember…........

  • A treasured relic guarded for centuries for it’s emensed power now has made it way on display here.

  • Lost in time. Be it antiquity or future. / Photographed facial features layered with Photoshop-generated shapes and textures.

  • An abandoned cottage sits decaying and un-loved, amongst the flowers and weeds which now encroach upon the front door. I spotted this while taking a walk through the woodlands behind Armadale castle, on the Sleat of the Isle of Skye. I peered through the open door, and saw that the very narrow, and steep wooden steps leading to the upstairs, were very worn, which indicated that a long time ago, maybe a large family dwelled within, maybe several generations. The rooms were tiny, and very dark within. / My imagination ran riot thinking about the folk of days gone by and how they lived ! / Sadly, it is in such a dangerous state of decay that it is not safe to explore the interior. / Maybe my image will help this abandoned home live on a little longer ? Shot on a Canon EOS 40D, RAW file processed in Photoshop CS3, then I applied the Orton Effect. /

  • Nevada City is an amazing place, but you have to be there early to get the place to yourself ! We got lucky, it was ‘off’ season and consequently very quiet , combined with a beautiful morning. / There were so many things to photograph, you could spend a whole lot of time there, but we were headed for Yellowstone, so time was limited sadly. Along with Bodie, California, this is a place I would happily return to time and time again …....... if only !! Shot on a Canon EOS 40D, polarising filter attached, and mounted on a tripod. Canon 18-55mm kit lens / f22, 1/10 sec, underexposed by half a stop, iso 100. Cloudy WB. / I processed a single RAW file in Photomatix, HDR. Then processed in Adobe Camera RAW, then Ortoned it in PS CS3, adjusting Curves/levels, selective colour, etc., plus a bit of dodging and burning. / FEATURED IN / http://www.redbubble.com/groups/your-magic-places / AND / http://www.redbubble.com/groups/dslr-users-only-3-a-day / AND / http://www.redbubble.com/groups/rebel-group / AND / http://www.redbubble.com/happy-haven / AND / http://www.redbubble.com/groups/unlimited-quality

  • I captured this around six years back, when we were doing a road trip of the South West. Jerome is a great place, full of character. We stumbled upon Joe’s place by accident – he calls it a ghost town, but it is rather more a collection of old automobiles and other machinery, a great place for a photographer – he has some rather quirky items dotted around the yard ! / Photographed in the heat of the afternoon sun, the light was not at its best for this subject, so I Ortoned and Textured it, to create a better feel. / You Tube do some great tutorials on Photoshop editing etc., including some on textures ! / VIEW LARGE for the details ! / I scanned a Fuji Velvia transparency with my Nikon Coolscan V ED, shipped it into Adobe PS CS3, where I cleaned the image up a bit with the spot removal tool. Then I played around with the Orton and textures until I was happy with the result. / It was shot on a Ricoh KR10 Super, mounted on a tripod, with polarising filter, f22. /

  • Published in DIGITAL PHOTO magazine. There exists a whole row of abandoned buildings along Mormon Row, a phtotgraphic delight, if you don’t mind sharing it with a whole bunch of other photographers ! Deservedly popular , backed up as it is by the amazing Teton mountain range. The town of Jackson is nearby. / The Mormon people were evicted when the National Park was created. I decided to give this the HDR and Orton treatment, to bring out the texture of the wood, and add a little drama to the scene. Shot on my Canon EOS 40D,mounted on tripod, polarising filter, iso 100, f22, 1/30 sec, cloudy WB, RAW file, processed in Photomatix, with further adjustments in PS CS3, and a little Orton applied. Finished with LAB colour to oomph it up a bit ! • BEST viewed large to see the details ! / I discovered this scene in beautiful Montana, USA, an old cart left in a field, with a couple of fine horses hanging around. I knew it would be a shot I would ‘do something later’ with in Photoshop, since on its own, photographed in the middle of the day in too strong sunshine, it wasn’t very exciting light ! The scene made me think of those pioneers that travelled across America, in the hope of better things. I shot on my CANON EOS 40D, with polariser attached to my Tamron 28-300 lens, set at 150mm, iso 200, auto wb, f6.7, 1/350sec, (wanted to blur an uninteresting background) underexposed by half a stop, RAW file processed as a pseudo HDR in Photomatix, then edited in Adobe CS3, levels/curves adjustments, LAB colour for saturation, added a dark vignette, then a little Orton, still wasn’t happy (!!) so I further added a couple of texture layers, which I adjusted with layer masks/opacities/blends etc. / I had a great deal of fun processing it !! The texture is my own, one I took in Namibia, in Kolmanskop mining ghost town ! FEATURED IN / http://www.redbubble.com/groups/rebel-group /

  • The Moulton Barn, Mormon Row, Teton National Park, Jackson, Wyoming, USA. I got up early for this one, I had travelled thousands of miles to see it, had only one morning to get my shot in the bag – and what did I find ? / A film crew shooting an advert ! Along with a battalion of other photographers, I was champing at the ‘bit’, since we weren’t allowed to shoot in case we captured the models – male and female – the whole darned thing was so artificial !! So, when there was a lull in shooting, I crept under a bush and hastily ‘snapped’ my shot. Maybe I should pursue a career in the ‘Paparazzi ??!!! Shot on my Canon EOS 40D with polarising filter attached, mounted very hastily on my tripod, Canon efs 18-55mm lens set at 45mm, underexposed by half a stop, f 27, 1/20 sec, auto wb, iso 100, RAW file developed as much as possible in Adobe Camera Raw, then in PS CS3, selective Levels/Curves, saturation of colours achieved with LAB colour, then the tiniest amount of Orton applied, to ‘pop’ the textures of the wood and grass. • This mill is located in Little Rock, Arkansas and was in the opening credits of “Gone With the Wind”. Beautiful place to visit if you are ever in the area. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

  • Suisinish is an abandoned village reached after a rough hour- long walk from Kilbride, near Torrin, Isle of Skye. / This old cottage is too modern to have been one of the dwellings where the folk were evicted to make way for the sheep, which were more profitable to the greedy landowners of the time. Many of the families were separated, and forced to emigrate to America, Canada, and Australia. / I cannot begin to feel their anguish. / There are many ruins scattered around the Brae (hillside), evidence of a thriving, close-knit community torn apart by human greed. Maybe this bulding was built early in the twentieth century, I have no idea and can find no information. / Back to the present….. / There was quite a wait for some usable light, a chilly fierce wind was blowing, rain was brewing, nothing new ! We sat in the shelter of one of those deserted ruins, eating a cheese piece, ( sandwich ) and a cheering cup of hot coffee from the thermos, reflecting on how ‘they’ lived then, compared to us nowadays, and watching the sheep that are now the only inhabitants of this beautiful place. / Rowan trees were planted in the belief they kept evil spirits away, and it is considered very bad luck to cut one down, even today ! This cottage is surrounded by them, I guess the magic didn’t work. A three shot HDR. CanonEOS 40D mounted on tripod, iso 100, auto wb, f22, RAW files converted in Photomatix, and touched up in Adobe CS3. / A little Orton also applied to ‘pop’ the texture of the stone. / A slight vignette added.
