When I woke up before dawn and found myself wondering along the shore with a camera a tripod, this was precisely the image I was after. The boat reminded me of the frailties of our existence, all alone, stranded at low tide, unable to float around with any dignity with the ominous clouds closing in on it’s steel hull. Yet it stood proud and tall, living each day as it came at the mercy of nature and the elements around it.

This is a little bit of fun mixed in with an image I took in Northern CA last Summer. The place: a well known swimhole close to Cattlemens’ Camp which is a favorite area for camping and also hunting deer South of Mount Shasta and McCloud. The critters in the water are a result of an actual photograph I shot in a local Nursery in Redbluff, CA….garden decor….. a few frogs from another photo I shot here at home so all combined to make this fun image…...Edited with PhotoImpact11…....hope you enjoy…. Very little remains now, of the once thriving Spa industry at Clifton Springs of the 1870’s, when people used to travel by ship to the now derelict pier in the background and bath in and bottle the natural mineral spring waters that were in abundant supply, at the water’s edge.

The Bald River and parts of its watershed are now part of the Bald River Gorge Wilderness, designated as a wilderness area by the U.S. Forest Service in 1984. It is a tributary of the Tellico River located in the Cherokee National Forest south of the Great Smoky Mountain N.P. Bald River Falls is regarded as the most impressive and scenic waterfalls in East Tennessee. According to the water level and, angle that it was shot from, the falls can appear tall or short and wide. It is about 90 ft. high, and caution should be used when exploreing it as several have been injured or died here. Bald River is a wild stream but the Tellico River is stocked with trout April thru September and is renowned for its trout fishing. It is located a short drive off the Cherohala Skyway in Monroe County Tn. To find it drive about 5 an 1/4 miles east of Tellico Plains on SR 165 and turn right onto Tellico River Road just past Oosterneck pullout and drive about another 6 miles. Latitude: 35-19’27’’ N Longitude: 084-10’38’’ W. It is well worth the drive except during a dry spell. Canon Rebel XTi
