This image was taken before dawn down at North Narrabeen Rock Pool. This is one of the largest rock pools in Australia. This image was a 3 minute exposure which captures a lovely blurring of the clouds. The interesting colours of the water are due to overhead lighting on the pool. This is a very simple but peaceful image. For those that want to find out how I produced this, I described my processing in detail in one of my blog posts You can read it here

Relaxing on a beach in the Cook Islands, South Pacific. The image was taken on One Foot island near Aitutaki which is part of the Cook Islands in the South Pacific. This is a coral beach not a sand beach so the feet are actually covered by tiny pieces of dead coral which gives the extremely coarse effect. The image was shot on slide film and scanned using a Nikon CoolScan III film scanner.

The lagoon was of course not blue. the blue of the sky is false colour obtained from the exchange of the red and blue channels of an infrared picture. The photo was taken in Geelong at the Aboriginal Craft & Cultural Interpretation Centre – Narana Creations. They have a beautiful walk and lots of artwork to buy. It’s a great chance to learn a little more about Australia’s real history. If it sounds like a plug then I guess it is although only by someone who’s been there once and was very impressed. It’s my first infrared lake so I’m happy with the results.

WILD & FREE / / Polar bear cubs cuddle-up with each other on an ice floe. What a great sight to see! The sea ice is shrinking at an alarming rate, which has a huge impact for the bears as this is their main hunting ground. More and more bears are being found to have drowned while trying to find the ice, even though they can swim up to sixty miles or so! / / I hope the ice does not completely vanish and that they always have somewhere to hut! (Spitsbergen – Scandinavian Arctic) / /

Captured along the Mount Evans Wilderness in Colorado, this is one of those waterfalls that kind of sneaks up on ya outta the blue, and if you blink, you actually miss it. One of my favourite portraits of my Dad, doing what he loves more then anything else in the world fishing. If he could he’d spend every day fishing, as it is he sometimes wets a line three or four times a day. On this occasion I decided to get up early and document him enjoying his sport. This is the result, it has special sentimental value to me, but I felt like sharing it as something different to what I’ve been posting recently.
