Sunrise on Hutchinson Island, Florida near the House of Refuge historical lighthouse, before the Surfers take over.
I just couldn’t help getting another one of these sunrises in from Hutchinson Island, Florida without feeling it would have been a waste….LOL
Captured along the Mount Evans Wilderness in Colorado, this is one of those waterfalls that kind of sneaks up on ya outta the blue, and if you blink, you actually miss it. I really don’t much in the way of long exposure shots, but after being happy with how this one came out, I am going to start doing them more. Hope ya all like it! Taken while I was in Grand Cayman in 2005. Couldn’t resist, the chairs were already sitting there perfect and the sky was so inviting. Hope you enjoy.

Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado…..and how I love shooting up there when the winter weather begins to roll on in…the wind is bad, the air—-freezing cold, but the images that one can capture are filled with atmosphere and drama, case in point, this shot here. I about froze my butt off getting this shot of Mummy Mountain, but I wanted something that really showed all the detail here….that represented what it’s all about being a nature photographer in Colorado…... / Thoughts welcomed! / HDR blending used to bring out more dramatic light and detail / John

This image inspired a collaboration with / chord0 / / His poem God’s love in Nature suite this image perfectly. God’s love in Nature / When slight and silenced, / With rumors of corollas and wings, / Is love that fills everything! / Have agitated waves / And the deep vertigo / Of the abyss and the distance. / Life and Death, eternal Love / Of pain and exuberance, / Keep me chained / To the light of his Word / And that sleeps at dusk / In the footprints of the plants. After our early morning elephant ride, to try and see tigers, I noticed that one of the elephants liked to hold his trunk over his tusk. Thought it may make a nice shot. / / (Bandhavgarh National Park – India) / / >< / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / /
I have been here and seen the coming of man to my rivers. In my shadows have walked wildlife that no longer walk here. From my lofty peaks you can see for many miles. Once I stood higher than the far western mountains. I may have shifted and changed but I remain. My rivers are cold and my forest cool. From my bowels man has both feed himself and built his shelters. He has raped my slopes for my wood. Fought wars within me. I still survive. Mist still shroud my valleys. Flowers still shine their beauty for all to see. Come walk my paths an fish my streams. Stand on my peaks and walk my valleys. Loose yourself within yourself as your cares fade away when your with me. I am the Great Smoky Mountains, the Great Iron Mountains, Far Blue Mountains, the Sha-cona-ga. Most just call me the Smokies, and I remain. And a quote from John Muir “The mountains, are fountains, not only of rivers and fertile soil, but of men
Summer Wildflower Fields amongst the Aspen in Alluvial Fan area of Rocky Mountain National Park here in Colorado…. How I love this time of the year up there…..I think this one will make a VERY nice print!

WILD & FREE / / Polar bear cubs and mum having a quick nap on an ice floe. What a great sight to see! The sea ice is shrinking at an alarming rate, which has a huge impact for the bears as this is their main hunting ground. Relaxing on a beach in the Cook Islands, South Pacific. The image was taken on One Foot island near Aitutaki which is part of the Cook Islands in the South Pacific. This is a coral beach not a sand beach so the feet are actually covered by tiny pieces of dead coral which gives the extremely coarse effect. The image was shot on slide film and scanned using a Nikon CoolScan III film scanner.
