This image was taken before dawn down at North Narrabeen Rock Pool. This is one of the largest rock pools in Australia. This image was a 3 minute exposure which captures a lovely blurring of the clouds. The interesting colours of the water are due to overhead lighting on the pool. This is a very simple but peaceful image. For those that want to find out how I produced this, I described my processing in detail in one of my blog posts You can read it here

Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado…..and how I love shooting up there when the winter weather begins to roll on in…the wind is bad, the air—-freezing cold, but the images that one can capture are filled with atmosphere and drama, case in point, this shot here. I about froze my butt off getting this shot of Mummy Mountain, but I wanted something that really showed all the detail here….that represented what it’s all about being a nature photographer in Colorado…... / Thoughts welcomed! / HDR blending used to bring out more dramatic light and detail / John

I have been here and seen the coming of man to my rivers. In my shadows have walked wildlife that no longer walk here. From my lofty peaks you can see for many miles. Once I stood higher than the far western mountains. I may have shifted and changed but I remain. My rivers are cold and my forest cool. From my bowels man has both feed himself and built his shelters. He has raped my slopes for my wood. Fought wars within me. I still survive. Mist still shroud my valleys. Flowers still shine their beauty for all to see. Come walk my paths an fish my streams. Stand on my peaks and walk my valleys. Loose yourself within yourself as your cares fade away when your with me. I am the Great Smoky Mountains, the Great Iron Mountains, Far Blue Mountains, the Sha-cona-ga. Most just call me the Smokies, and I remain. And a quote from John Muir “The mountains, are fountains, not only of rivers and fertile soil, but of men

Stop and relax. Let your mind and body slow down. Reflect only on the cool peaceful things. Close your eyes and think of only the sound of the stream. The leaves resting on their journey to nowhere. The coolness of the air on your skin. Let the beat of your heart slow. Captured off my deck, looking over the Eastern Plains of Colorado….I thought the song below fit this image to the core…. Brian Setzer-September Skies / September Skies / Funny how that memory / never dies / And when that first leaf falls / Days turn cold, nights grow long / Like an old Sinatra song / And every year right about this time / I wind up here wishing that winds of fate / would bring you back to me / beneath September Skies / I should’ve known better / than to count on the weather / summer’s long gone, still holdin’ on / A fool pretendin’ that love’s never ending / With the first sign of fall, I still recall / September Skies / The autumn melody clouds my eyes / And I’ll never see, why you’re gone / and I dream all alone / Beneath Setember Skies / I should’ve known better / than to count on the weather / summer’s long gone, still holdin’ on / A fool pretendin’ that love’s never ending / With the first sign of fall, I still recall / September Skies / The autumn melody clouds my eyes / And I’ll never see, why you’re gone / and I dream all alone / Beneath September Skies —-—-—-—-—-—-—— See more on my website jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. A rough day on the beach in Byron Bay does not deter the keen surfers from getting a peice of the action. Notice the rays of sunlight coming through the clouds down towards the people entering the surf.

Here the gentle flow of the waters as they cascade over the face of the rock. Feel the cool mist as it envelopes your whole being. See the softness of the silky veil as it flows over the harsh rock. Let these waters calm you. Let them carry all your stress away as they journey on their way. Release the tension built up in you as the water releases itself over the face of the cliff. Let the hand of nature touch and relax you. Shot was taken of Bald River Falls,Monroe County,Tennessee
