The early morning sun streaming through the East window of our bedroom enhanced the warmth of this tender moment between my daughter and her father. She loved Saturday mornings because of the opportunity to snuggle up closer to her father when he didn’t have to leave for work. I relinquished my place in our bed to grab my camera and capture this special time. This picture was taken 10 years ago, and my little girl is now a teenager who still loves to crawl up into her daddy’s lap. On a spiritual note, I have spent many years trying to sort out the “character” of God… His presence in our lives, if He is demanding or compassionate? When I see this picture I understand the heart of a father towards his child and I can believe that I am cherished by our Father in Heaven. Some people believe there is no God. I can understand that too. But to borrow a quote from a favorite movie of mine, (Second Hand Lions) “Sometimes the thing we need most to believe in may or may not be true.” Whatever you choose to believe in, if it is good for your heart, then cling to it with all your might. Surely you are still our Father! Even if Abraham and Jacob would disown us, LORD, you would still be our Father. You are our Redeemer from ages past. / NLT Isaiah 63:16 A tender greeting for a Father’s Day card! / /

This is basically about mistrust. / Cause, isn´t mistrust a way of being in war with someone else? / I took the inspiration for this image from Carole King´s “Being At War With Each Other” amazing composition. / Here´s the link to Carole´s original recording of this song. / And here´s the link to Barbra Streisand´s version. Main lyrics go this way: / “Everyone comes from one father, one mother / So why do we complicate our lives so much / By being at war with each other Maybe I’m crazy but I don’t understand it / Why do we seem to vote to dig more holes / It’s such a waste of planet There must be a reason that I can’t see / Maybe somebody else knows better than me All I know is everyone else is a sister or a brother / So we’ve got to look around again and stop / Being at war with each other / Being at war with each other We’ve got to look around again and stop / Being at war with each other.” Basic image is a cinema4D render; it took just a bit of postwork to complete it.

© 2009 Danilo Lejardi / (Mira is a red giant star estimated 200-400 light years away.) I felt so moved when I first read Dead Suns and Dying Stars, the poem by artist Lianne that I couldn´t help but trying to create an image inspired by it. I know a single image cannot express nor the visceral universe of this poem, neither its infinite subtilities, but it´s just my way of trying to deal with my own feelings and to draw things out. / Thanks from the heart, dear Lianne, for feeding our souls with this outstanding inspiration! Here´s the poem by artist Lianne Schneider. Dead Suns and Dying Stars Empty stars devoid of light, / ashen suns devoid of heat / litter the universe frozen, lifeless, / all dead or dying in the cosmos / winking out like houses gone dark. / And I am Mira in her death throes / orbiting the dead, cold core of you / my binary companion, love star whose / nearness once radiated light to me / whose chemistry generated atomic reactions / in my heart and in my superheated core- / the heat of our fusion the physics / of our intimate and co-dependent galaxy. / When your intense desire had cooled / and your inner fuel of love was spent, / your cataclysmic collapse became the trigger / that sent me hurtling through the cosmos / throwing off the light and heat and color / of all I had become in a fiery comet tail / signifying my fall from your grace. / A thousand light years from now / my death will still be emblazoned on the sky / for love dies no more quickly than a star. © Lianne Schneider October 2009
