The remaining ruins at Chichen Itza in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico, are a tribute to the complexity and advancement of the Maya empire. The grounds hold multiple ruins that are now considered the 7th wonder of the world. Truly worth the trip to this area, these ruins are an experience of a life time.
I think its pretty self explanatory. The theme is from last years Australian poster design annual competition, which was “When it rains, it pours.” I did not enter this, I had the idea months after the competition finished.
See poster for a description. If anyone can help me with making the red brighter, please let me know. I can’t seem to get a vibrant red happening…

To the young all the world is theirs and with it comes mystery and excitment. Some would like to keep them frozen in this stage, cute yes, fun all that is a puppy, but as they grow so does their personality and their beauty, so much would be missed.
One of the lovelier views of a pristine horse farm on the back roads heading home. LavenderMoon~

A night on the beach.
Fractal art with my Fountain art work as a background. This art work was inspired by the song Love Reign O’er Me by The Who. The Who has always been one of my favorite bands and Quadrophenia is still one of my favorite albums. Love Reign O’er Me by The Who Only love / Can make it rain / The way the beach gets kissed by the sea / Only love / Can make it rain / Like the sweet of lovers laying in the fields Love, reign o’er me / Love, reign o’er me, rain on me, rain on me Only love / Can bring the rain / That makes you yearn to the sky / Only love / Can bring the rain / That falls like tears from on high Love, reign o’er me, rain on me, rain on me / Love, reign o’er me, rain on me, rain on me On the dry and dusty road / The nights we spent apart alone / I need to get back home to cool cool rain / I can’t sleep and I lay and I think / The night is hot and black as ink / Oh God I need a drink of cool cool rain / © Dave Moilanen

Is it just me? Or is this summer zooming by faster than any summer before? I chased dragonflies on two different creeks, and persued them on ponds. Over the past few weeks, I have followed dragonflies …. for hours. This gallant fellow finally posed for me …. on a sun-bleached lilac branch in my yard. / (2009.AUG.02) RedBubble Album: Small Blessings> Canon 350D EOS / Sigma 75/300mm

This plant started blooming about a month ago, with its tiny blossoms a bright precursor to the fact that today is the first day of the Australian spring. I first thought this was a buddleia, but a fellow Australian blogger, Arija, has just told me it is a Hardenbergia violacea, an Australian native plant. I shot this in grey, cloudy weather. Yes, sunlight is a photographer’s ally, but I often find a cloudy sky above me is a great way to capture intricacies that might otherwise be washed out or, on the other hand, saturated in bright sunlight. I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F8, 1/180 sec, ISO 400, focal length 125mm. 116-8969

This is a collaborative piece with Jennifer B using her amazingly breathtaking image Us with my poem Reign of Passion. Thanks so much Jennifer for letting me use this image! Passion reigned. Inside itself, seeded with desire / Life called out - / the Goddess spoke / and they were wounded. Etheric kisses / in the spin they lay, blissfully slain. I didn’t come from clay / and you didn’t / crab your way out / from under my rib. Your siren hymn made the quiet sea vibrate / these waves became thoughts creamed upon / rocks of sense / the mellow mist of conversation / sprayed into us. The copper piles of modernity / cannot rust them - / lovers, water threads / the brave garlands of ocean / seek release for your own sake / but arrive together / let the mystery of union work its way into / the folds of your odyssey. Nothing’s lost to the circuitry. Man, Woman, the mud belly of time / immaculate, complete. Copyright. 2009.
