I visited Red Bubble this afternoon to see what was going on, and put up my new images. I got a great surprise when I saw that I had sold a Card to Jim Caldwell. Many thanks my RB buddy !!! The card that sold is called ” A Place For Wishes And Dreams “ Jim has a very friendly attitude and great work ! He has been on my watch list for a few months now, and I am on his too. Our work has one thing in common when it comes to photography. We both like nature shots, but anything that’s photogenic / interesting is fair game – including man made things. To see his great work please Click Here Jim seems to have been busy buying from a few other people on RB today as well ! Cheers mate and Thank You, Reflector

Hello to anyone and everyone on RedBubble, I try to ensure that everyone, and I mean every last person, who ever comments on my art gets a thank you from me, without fail. You came, looked and inter-acted in this ” virtual realm ” and you invested some of your time to do that. It makes us all feel good when someone likes our imagery / written works – we’re artists and that eventually makes us a bit of the ” show-man / show-woman ” after a few years or so. We want people to see our art, but it’s not the only motivating impetus behind us staying on this creative journey. If it is then we may need to re-evaluate our whole sense of identity and ” self ”. I have been thinking / worrying for a few days now that maybe a lot of people thought I did not thank them because I do not use the ” Reply ” button very often. If you feel that I did not respond with gratitude when you commented, then please feel free to check back to when you have commented on my art. There should be a thanks there – every time, otherwise I just missed your comment by accident. Cheers and Keeping Pumping Out That Great Art, James

I love this whole RedBubble experience so much ! It has so much more going for it than I could have ever imagined. I love Art in the extreme – viewing art, making art, talking about art, and connecting and interacting with other Artists. Plus talking about anything else at all that we find interesting ! There are so many awesome individuals that frequent RedBubble – we may not have met in the real world, but in the realm of consciousness we have met. That interaction is priceless in my mind. If you would like to talk about all those things above, please read on. My Personal e-mail addresses = malcomsonj@hotmail.com OR reflector@live.com / OR infodigcells@aapt.net.au These are my main Web Addresses ( Out of about 7 that I have – some other ones are just links only ) . You can choose any method if you want to communicate in a more Digital Multimedia way with me. I will always send a reply: “Digital Cells – my Digital Multimedia Art and Design Portfolio” URL / All Digital Multimedia outputs, except 3D. It has not been updated for the last month, because I have been concentrating on RB. Updates to Digital Cells will be made in the next few weeks. “National Association for the Visual Arts ( Australia )” URL / My Artists Profile, inspirations / influences, and bits and pieces. “Reflectors MSN Live Space” URL / Very new – still needs a lot of work when I get the time to spare. / Just one good RB friend now, more to come soon I hope ! That’s all I can remember right now. Cheers ! I would really enjoy the communication, even more than I do on RedBubble, and that’s saying something ! James

This came about when a good friend rang for some help. Shooting a party can be a little scary for anybody in their first time, but with a little help we can produce prints that look a lot better than just a “snappy”. So the first no-no I guess in this way of shooting is to never shoot flash straight onto the subject, this is a very harsh way of applying light to your subject. What we need to do is to tilt the flash head 90deg up, so we in effect bounce the light off the roof, of course if your out doors this won’t work as effectively but there are ways around that. Maybe another journal later. Following a series of photos to show you an effective set up for bouncing. The first thing we need a piece of cardboard that is around 3 times bigger than you flash head. the following diagram shows the shape penciled in and ready to cut. The next diagram shows the shape cut out and a piece also cut for a little back strength in the card. The piece is to be glued straight down the middle of the back from top to bottom. Have something with a bit of weight to press the piece down while it is drying. The next image shows the reflector in position held on with a friendship band, these bands are very cheep and can bought in most $2 shops. Very handy item in your kit bag. So in summary, bounce of the ceiling and the reflector will bounce ‘fill’ light towards the front of your subject. This eliminates the problem with dark caves in your subjects eye sockets. Hope this has been helpful to all who read it!
