Old chap in Udaipur. His glasses were an instant hit! Obviously very dear to him too, he had taped them together at several places to hold the pieces together!

This painting is a miniature acrylic on stretched canvas and is only 10cms. square. It’s such a relief to do a tiny painting after the last three which were nearly a meter square! Thank you all again for the kind comments, faves and watches. I really do appreciate them. This painting is watercolour on paper. The Royal Art Society’s next exhibition is a challenge. To do a painting incorporating food and/or drink with the landscape. I chose to use the Sydney Harbour Bridge as a background, looking out of a window. And I painted my favourite subjects, apples and silver on a check tablecloth. Thank you all so very much for all the kind comments, faves and watches. I really appreciate these. The two town bands (pipe and silver versions) play an essential part in Peebles’ midsummer beltane celebrations and the closing ceremony sees them marching and playing a musical duel allong the length of the high street to thrilled town supporters… Here the silver band is at the foot of the church steps ready to play their part in the crowing ceremony and in the following parade of all the primary school kids in their fancy dress… if you peek closely you may spot the penguins, a beefeater and more… / :)) Peebles is a lovely town on the river Tweed in the scottish borders about 25 miles south of Edinburgh Click for more beltane info and for more images Nikon D60, Nikkor VR 18-200 lens
Lithuania, Klaipeda region, Curonian spit / THIS SERIES FROM / August 14-16, 2009 : morning/day/evening/night CLICK FOR COMMENTS http://www.redbubble.com/people/antanas/art/3656104-2-in-the-dark-morming / / at First Things / / ! The Curonian Lagoon (or Bay, Gulf; Russian: Kуршский залив, Lithuanian: Kuršių Marios, Polish: Zalew Kuroński, German: Kurisches Haff) is separated from the Baltic Sea by the Curonian Spit. / In the 13th century, the area around the lagoon was part of the ancestral lands of the Curonians and Old Prussian people. Later it bordered the historical region of Lithuania Minor. At the northern end of the Spit, there is a passage to the Baltic Sea, and the place was chosen by the Teutonic Knights in 1252 to found Memelburg castle and the city of Memel. The town is officially called Klaipėda since 1923 when the Memel Territory was separated from the German Empire. / As the new Interwar border, the river that flows into the Curonian Lagoon near Rusnė (German: Ruß) was chosen. The river’s lower 120km in Germany were called die Memel by Germans, while the upper part located in Lithuania was known as Nemunas River. The border also separated the peninsula near the small holiday resort of Nida, Lithuania (German: Nidden); the southern part of the Spit and the Lagoon remained in Germany until 1945. / This border remains today, as after World War II, the southern end of the Spit and the German area south of the river, the part of East Prussia with the town Königsberg located in Sambia, became part an exclave of Russia called Kaliningrad Oblast.
