  • I love photographing architecture – whether it’s old or new, and here I have both! A rebuilt windmill on a business park in Swindon, Wiltshire is releftected in the glass of a modern office building. / In the 1980s, the windmill was moved from its original site in the Wiltshire village of Chiseldon where it had stood since the 1820s as it was threatened by redevelopment. / It was rebuilt in a modern business park a few miles away where it stands providing an interesting contrast in architectural design. These modern buildings are listed monuments by English Heritage. • Acrylic on canvas, blended with images in photo shop. I took a photo of an ally window through a store front a while ago in Seattle. It reminded me of an old black and white movie. I could just feel the tension of wondering what or who was inside. The scene had a feeling of loneliness. As if the person living there might be a recluse. I can relate to that at times. I had been waiting for something that would work with this shot. / In the mean time, I did this acrylic painting. I was thinking of posting it, but the title wouldn’t come to me. I love the textures and colors but I had a strong feeling that it needed more. / The painting and my image of the window seemed like they were meant for each other. / But then it needed one more element. / The bird had been perched on the wire above my house. He almost seemed to be posing for me, looking in all directions. The sun was at a perfect angle to highlight his breast. I guess I needed his photo as well. I hope you like the blend and the mystery of the bird and window. / /
