  • The wetlands at Albury, NSW.

  • Mother nature presented me on a last October evening with one of those sunsets that you can hope to see just once a year if you’re lucky. / High layers of scattered clouds, a pure, clean atmosphere and the fact that at the end of october the twilight lasts almost a hour, all this elements contributed in producing a stunning natural show. This is the Po River near to Carignano in Piedmont, Italy. I hope you enjoy it, thanks for dropping by. Paolo

  • Sunset with Marabou Storks – South Luangwa River, Zambia

  • In quiet light, a golden glow / lasting a hundred perfect heartbeats… Artist’s notes: I have had the wonderful chance of seeing herons actually sunning themselves like this. In fact, there was one day that absolutely struck me with awe about the playfullness of these birds. I was working with a sheetrock crew, and the house we were at was on the banks of the Columbia river. We’d had a series of strange weather incidents in the valley, all of which flooded the river, and actually made a huge mess of it with countless trees/logs, branches, etc. being swept down the mountains and into the water. So for a couple of days, there was an endless log jam floating down the river. I was taking a break at the house during one of those days, and noticed herons standing on the logs floating down the river. They had their wings held out like in my picture above, and they were facing the sun. They would float down just so far, then turn and fly back up river. Next thing you know…here they’d come again… on a new log. All day long these herons kept repeating that cycle, catching rides on the logs while they could…and sunning themselves in the process. I thought that was so interesting and cool. Plus, I love herons anyway…so, it just seemed fitting to add one to this piece. :) (Original, 11×17 300dpi) / FULL VIEW RECOMMENDED* —-—- Stock Credits: model: mjranum-stock http://mjranum-stock.deviantart.com/art/Little-Black-Goth-5-59785430 / Boat and water: sxc.hu http://www.sxc.hu/photo/937674 / wing brushes: faeth-design http://faeth-design.deviantart.com/art/Wing-Brush-74055731 / textures: my own ©2007-2008 Aimee Stewart, Foxfires / My artwork and photos do not belong to the public domain

  • The title says it all. Taken just outside of Pickering, North Yorkshire.

  • With my brand new travel set of ‘brilliant’ watercolours, I experimented using a very quick wet on wet wash to capture an impression of a glorious pink sunset flung over the hills and reflected in the river.

  • Last light looking across the mighty Murray River at Mannum, South Australia. A magnificent stretch of the River, and yes still with plenty of water for tourists and photographers…..

  • Image taken on the Murray River between Younghusband and Mannum ferries South Australia. The last from my most recent trip to Mannum. The sky was unbelievable and just so powerful. This seems to have worked much better in B&W given the colours of the night. Thanks again to Dave from the Mannum Motel for sharing this place with his son and I. Many thanks to those who pointed out the dogs face in the lower half of the image. Now I cant look without seeing it. By the way its naturally occurring no photoshop magic here.

  • This is the colour version of the HDR sunset shot at Mannum that has come up with an amazing dogs face in the lower left portion of the image. Shot taken between Mannum and Young Husband near the Marina. No photoshop manipulation the dogs face just appeared. Dave from mannum was with me that night shooting just a little to my right and the face didn’t appear in his images. Canon 400D polarising filter – 18- 55 lens HDR and converted in Photomatix…

  • Tried a ND filter in kinda dark light, with full open shutter.. Didn’t think I would get anything.. Happy with the result :) Some edding in the water from the rocks below effecting the currents. Overlooking Noosa River, Noosaville. Canon 1000D.

  • This is definately one of the most beautiful places of the world, at the most beautiful time of the day :) Noosa River, Noosaville, Queensland. 1000’s of Rainbow Lorikeets fly above, in their afternoon social time, hanging out in the tall Gum Trees. If you stand within 50 metres of the tree, you can’t hear yourself think for the noise, it’s so wonderful an experience! This colour happens most nights, but this cloud formation does not happen often at all, in my opinion, the perfect sky :) I hope you enjoy this shot, as much as I enjoyed shooting this one. Available Large, and best viewed large. Actual print size is 1600mm x 1000mm. Canon 50D, 10mm, no filters needed, as this was the true colour of the evening.

  • Yes I know, another sunset shot of the Noosa River, Noosaville, Queensland, Australia. I just can’t help myself, I love this time of day and place, and I have to say, this afternoons sunset was the best yet. I honestly had to desaturate this shot. It was amazing orange, everything around you was glowing orange, the sky lit up!! My wife even said at the time, she had never seen anything like it. Canon 50D, 10mm, 20% desaturate, as the raw was just too orange… Available Large, and best viewed Large.. The full size print of this can be 1.5 metres x 1 metre.

  • This has to be one of my favorite shots I have taken to date, as I was shooting Fiery Skies I noticed a pelican in the distance incomming, I raced back to this palm I had in the shots earlier, as I knew the fisherman to the left of frame would get the pelicans attention… Paid off, one of the frames used in this shot was a cool timing pelican landing :) I carefully pasted out the other captures of this pelican in the other frames, so the one was clear in the HDR. I was almost going to paste in the whole landing sequence, as I pumped up the ISO to get the camera shooting at max fps. I hope you enjoy this shot, was real fun making it, and shooting it! Noosa River, Noosaville, Queensland, Australia. Canon 50D, 10mm, 20% desaturate, as the raw was just too orange… Available Large, and best viewed Large..

  • After long waiting for the right sunset to photograph the “Mariah”, a customers boat, yesterday afternoon was perfect! A huge fire on North Shore gave it more character with the thick smoke. As I was shooting this scene, some kids playing on the beach behind me screamed out “Mummy mummy, the sky is on fire”, and went running back for her protection. Was so cute :) Noosa River, Noosaville, Queensland, Australia. Canon 50D, 10mm. Available Large and best viewed Large!
