  • Sunrise on Lake Albert, Meningie, South Australia. Splendor of Dawn was taken 45 mins later on the same morning.

  • This photo was taken during a extreme low tide just after sunrise at Monkey Mia in Shark Bay Western Australia. You could walk out about 100 meters from the beach before you got to the water! The location of Monkey Mia is the only place on Western Australia where the sun rises over the ocean. / As you can see in this photo the sun has been blocked by the large cloud formation, but can be seen in the reflections off the wet sand. A 10 shot stitched panorama! Taken with my 20D And 17-40 f/4 L. Featured In: Australia! You’re Standing In it, Bubblettes, Canon DSLR, Colors of the Wind, Landscape Photography, Panoramas, Skyscapes, The Beauty of Nature, WA Red Bubbles Mk II, Western Australia. Viewed 1582 times.

  • After shooting the early light of the morning down at Cape Schanck I thought I’d take a quick shot of the sun light reflecting off the large boulders in this little cove. I love the warm colours and shapes of wet boulders in the sun. If you ever go down to this place when the tied is high and the weather a little on the wild side, the massive waves that come crashing in to this little space throw these boulders around making an awesome rumbling sound. A must see if you live close enough to the Mornington Peninsula.

  • A few years ago, Mildura hosted the World Hot Air Balloon Championships. I headed up there for a few days to enjoy the event. Travelling with the competitors was great as I got to see how quickly they measured the weather conditions and set up their balloons. About 80 balloons were raised at about the same time, many of them side-by-side like this, in a rush to take advantage of the best wind conditions. Not only were they pushing against each other on the ground, but the balloons would also bump each other in the air, it was really an amazing sight.

  • An alpine lake reflecting first light kissing the peak of Mt. Rainier on a cold summer morning as the mist rises off the lake.

  • A funny thing happened on the way to Mt. Rainier well before sunrise. I noticed the morning mist rising over Clear Lake and the cirrus clouds fanning out above them and decided that a glorious sunrise on the lake was worth more than a maybe on the mountain. I fumbled my way in the dark via flashlight to the lakes edge and had time to search for composition before the heavens lit up. Not a bad way to start a day at all.

  • A beautiful evening sky. The sea oats moving in the breeze with driftwood at its side. Another beautiful sunset in Destin, Florida. Late September; no crowds; just peace. / / Click on the buy/preview button to see the many RedBubble print options for this photo.

  • The majestic Mt. Rainier capped with a small cloud as the first light of a new day illuminates the peak and reflects in the still waters of Bench LAke

  • The little boxes cut in the rock in the foreground are old saltpans. This is where the Maltese used to make salt by pouring seawater in the pans, let it dry and gather the salt. It’s a labour intensive way of producing salt. Image was HDR post-processed. Best viewed large. • Lithuania, Klaipeda region, Curonian spit / THIS SERIES FROM / August 14-16, 2009 : morning/day/evening/night CLICK FOR COMMENTS http://www.redbubble.com/people/antanas/art/3656104-2-in-the-dark-morming / / at First Things / / ! The Curonian Lagoon (or Bay, Gulf; Russian: Kуршский залив, Lithuanian: Kuršių Marios, Polish: Zalew Kuroński, German: Kurisches Haff) is separated from the Baltic Sea by the Curonian Spit. / In the 13th century, the area around the lagoon was part of the ancestral lands of the Curonians and Old Prussian people. Later it bordered the historical region of Lithuania Minor. At the northern end of the Spit, there is a passage to the Baltic Sea, and the place was chosen by the Teutonic Knights in 1252 to found Memelburg castle and the city of Memel. The town is officially called Klaipėda since 1923 when the Memel Territory was separated from the German Empire. / As the new Interwar border, the river that flows into the Curonian Lagoon near Rusnė (German: Ruß) was chosen. The river’s lower 120km in Germany were called die Memel by Germans, while the upper part located in Lithuania was known as Nemunas River. The border also separated the peninsula near the small holiday resort of Nida, Lithuania (German: Nidden); the southern part of the Spit and the Lagoon remained in Germany until 1945. / This border remains today, as after World War II, the southern end of the Spit and the German area south of the river, the part of East Prussia with the town Königsberg located in Sambia, became part an exclave of Russia called Kaliningrad Oblast.
