  • Eilean Donan Castle
    by Craig Goldsmith

    US$4.28–US$114.00

Eilean Doan Castle one of the Iconic Scotish Castles was just a magic place to visit and photograph. I spent close to 6 hours taking in the surrounds, the atmosphere and the serenity and of course the odd photo or two. Here is one of my favourites, I really like the balance of light and the reflections. I hope you like it too.

  • Romance
    by Becca Cusworth

    US$3.42–US$91.20

Romance depicting heroic or marvelous deeds, pageantry, romantic exploits etc Eilean Donan castle bathing in the early afternoon light _As one of the most iconic images of Scotland, Eilean Donan is recognised all around the world. Situated on an island at the point where three great sea lochs meet, and surrounded by some majestic scenery, it is little wonder that the castle is now one of the most important attractions in the Scottish highlands. Although first inhabited around the 6th century, the first fortified castle was built in the mid 13th century and stood guard over the lands of Kintail. Since then, at least four different versions of the castle have been built and re-built as the feudal history of Scotland unfolded through the centuries. Partially destroyed in a Jacobite uprising in 1719, Eilean Donan lay in ruins for the best part of 200 years until Lieutenant Colonel John MacRae-Gilstrap bought the island in 1911 and proceeded to restore the castle to its former glory. After 20 years of toil and labour the castle was re-opened in 1932_ / http://www.eileandonancastle.com/

  • loch of the lowes
    by dinghysailor1

    US$2.85–US$76.00

Loch of the Lowes lies in the beautiful scottish borders between Moffat and Selkirk. It flows into nearby St Mary’s loch (with its thriving sailing club) past old Tibbieshiels inn, hostelry and overnight stop for walkers on the southern upland way crossing Scotland. Overlooking the north end of the loch is a monument to James Hogg – the Scottish Poet known as the Ettrick Shepherd, friend and contemporary of Sir Walter Scott. Taken 4/3/08 (untouched) (there is a 2nd loch of the lowes further north in Perthshire, complete with osprey viewing centre – but you can see the wonderful fish eagle hunting here too if you are lucky!) • Welcome to Scotland…..... This scene is the bridge over the River Tweed into Scotland and Coldstream, the first Border town. Just a bit more to tell you about this scene because som people may not realise just how fast this water is travelling. This is a seriously fast moving and deep stretch of water with a weir 50 meters the other side of the bridge. The river bottom is smooth pebble and theres usually a breeze blowing upstream too. This took days to get the shot I wanted with about 250 shots taken to produce just 2, however, the winter sun shone nicely for me all day. Enjoy.

  • water spout
    by dinghysailor1

    US$2.85–US$76.00

Water – the most precious resource on the planet – is something we so take for granted in Scotland… what so many people all over the globe would give for even this supply….... I soaked my entire jeans leg taking this as i was kneeling in the swampy run-off from the fields on the hillside above but only noticed later when the freezing march cold began to bite! It’s amazing to me that the sky and clouds can be seen reflected in the flow! Taken in Peebles, scottish borders, below Glen Tress, getting splashed! :) Slightly cropped to remove an annoying grass stalk but otherwise untouched.

  • A dinghy sailors view of the famous Forth rail bridge in linking South Queensferry to Fife in Scotland

  • I’d driven from the scottish borders to ben nevis, (the highest peak in uk) to meet some damp friends through low cloud and light rain…so the few shots I took were pretty glum and dismal looking….. But after slight tweaking I liked the wetness of this classic sight with every blade of grass just laden with moisture and the light rain still falling… Typical camping weather! / / View large to see in full ‘soggy-vision’ ... ;))

  • stones in the water
    by dinghysailor1

    US$2.85–US$76.00

A tranquil scene at beautiful St Mary’s Loch in scottish borders on 27/4/08. The loch is three miles long by half a mile wide, set in spectacular surroundings in the middle of the Southern Uplands about 50 miles south of Edinburgh. To preserve the peace and tranquility, only sailing boats use it, apart from the a few small fishing craft and the club rescue boats. / / It is much bigger and deeper than the nearby loch of the lowes and the bottom drops away suddenly to great depths within yards of the shore.
