An oldie but a goodie.. A photo taken spring 2007 of my daughter under the blossom tree.

A golden beach near Lahaina glowing in the light of the setting sun as a gnarled Banyan Tree appears to reach for drink in the rising tide.

b&w version per request / original: / This was taken on my parent’s back porch on a Friday evening. Fridays are “family night” and generally the kids play outside but it was raining so my niece was watching the rain fall. I said her name and when she looked I took this photo. So that’s the story behind the title. :)

In quiet light, a golden glow / lasting a hundred perfect heartbeats… Artist’s notes: I have had the wonderful chance of seeing herons actually sunning themselves like this. In fact, there was one day that absolutely struck me with awe about the playfullness of these birds. I was working with a sheetrock crew, and the house we were at was on the banks of the Columbia river. We’d had a series of strange weather incidents in the valley, all of which flooded the river, and actually made a huge mess of it with countless trees/logs, branches, etc. being swept down the mountains and into the water. So for a couple of days, there was an endless log jam floating down the river. I was taking a break at the house during one of those days, and noticed herons standing on the logs floating down the river. They had their wings held out like in my picture above, and they were facing the sun. They would float down just so far, then turn and fly back up river. Next thing you know…here they’d come again… on a new log. All day long these herons kept repeating that cycle, catching rides on the logs while they could…and sunning themselves in the process. I thought that was so interesting and cool. Plus, I love herons anyway…so, it just seemed fitting to add one to this piece. :) (Original, 11×17 300dpi) / FULL VIEW RECOMMENDED* —-—- Stock Credits: model: mjranum-stock http://mjranum-stock.deviantart.com/art/Little-Black-Goth-5-59785430 / Boat and water: sxc.hu http://www.sxc.hu/photo/937674 / wing brushes: faeth-design http://faeth-design.deviantart.com/art/Wing-Brush-74055731 / textures: my own ©2007-2008 Aimee Stewart, Foxfires / My artwork and photos do not belong to the public domain
Shot at Corio Bay, Geelong. Amazing clouds and perfectly calm. The sun had just gone behind a cloud and this acute contrast was the result. I didn’t do much to this other than a levels adjustment and a crop and straighten. The HDR look happened naturally. / View more of my seascapes at: Landscapes and Seascapes
Sony H5 with M3358 close up lens. Cropped back from 3072×2304 to 1808×1360 and rotated it for better viewing. Yes I know I can up-size it back to 3072×2304 but that way you loose image quality IMO. Hence only available as card or matted print. If anybody wants the original shot or an up-sized version let me know. / / Have a look at my other photos. Image taken on the Murray River between Younghusband and Mannum ferries South Australia. The last from my most recent trip to Mannum. The sky was unbelievable and just so powerful. This seems to have worked much better in B&W given the colours of the night. Thanks again to Dave from the Mannum Motel for sharing this place with his son and I. Many thanks to those who pointed out the dogs face in the lower half of the image. Now I cant look without seeing it. By the way its naturally occurring no photoshop magic here.

If I could sum this up in one perfect word, it would be Ragadellic. Don’t you think? I guess one of my guilty pleasures are Chuck T’s. You just can’t get a more perfect shoe.
