After shooting the early light of the morning down at Cape Schanck I thought I’d take a quick shot of the sun light reflecting off the large boulders in this little cove. I love the warm colours and shapes of wet boulders in the sun. If you ever go down to this place when the tied is high and the weather a little on the wild side, the massive waves that come crashing in to this little space throw these boulders around making an awesome rumbling sound. A must see if you live close enough to the Mornington Peninsula.

I can still remember my very first camera that my parents had given to me when I was about 8 years old. I took that camera everywhere and snapped shots of anything and everything, however it wasn’t until much later in life that I was really bitten by the photography bug. I was planning a big move to the Canadian Rockies and thought now is the perfect time to buy my new camera gear for shooting wildlife. I bought all the equipment I needed that would put me up close with all the wildlife that the mountains had to offer. So off I went chasing Bears, Bighorn sheep, Moose, Elk and Wolves… pretty much any critter I could capture with my lens. It was a fascinating and thrilling experience. Then fate brought to me a girl and she would change my life forever… Newfoundland is where I now call home, with my beautiful wife and baby son. This province is a photographer’s paradise. The scenes change from day to day and the opportunities for capturing them are endless. With my camera in tow I now begin my journey through Newfoundland, photographing and capturing her raw and rugged beauty to share with the world. I hope you enjoy the photographs presented here. I loved this poem all through high school and my life really.. one of the classical pieces that seemed to have caught my heart. I was going through old journals.. I did very little writing in High Scool. I came across a very badly spelled version of this poem. / It brought back a sense of longing. Some feeling this. Forest fires and heat throughout Alaska have obscured the Chugach range and limited opportunities to practice landscape photography. I learned much after posing the query, What makes a good landscape photo?, but must wait to work on better foregrounds. However, upon reflection, ahem, other photographic opportunities exist. Nikon D200, Nikkor 70-300mm VR, f/5.6, 1/250, -0.67 exposure compensation, 85mm focal length, ISO 100, 2-stop ND grad, Speedlight SB-800 with diffuser bounced off white wall, Manfrotto tripod. Oh, and a patient poppy plucked from the wilds of Alaska. (If that’s not too anthropomorphic for you.)

A male leopard pauses for a drink after failing to stalk a herd of Impala in the Okavango delta, Botswana. Amazingly, after he was spotted by the herd they all came rushing towards him: according to the ranger, to let the leopard know he had been seen. / Featured in The Woman Photographer, South Africa – Rainbow Nation and All Animals Great and Small. /

This small Alpine Pool of water reflects the Summer Clouds on its Surface. / I took this photo in the Summer of 08 during the harsh mid day light. I find it challenging to take photo’s at this time of day. / this spot is high up on a mountain, located on British Columbia’s North Coast Area. / west coast of Canada / almost nobody has ever visited this spot, it is very unique and unspoiled by mankind’s presence. / Basically pristine Canadian Wilderness / The Water is Red from Tanin’s that occur in this region. / this photo is a 3 shot HDR and I probably went over board with the Saturation but was just trying to get the Lupin Flowers Brighter. / In retrospect it would be nice to get up there and photograph that spot again with a ND Grad Filter instead of doing HDR. / I much prefer the Filter over the HDR effect.
