Coal drops at Benwell, Newcastle upon Tyne, early Victorian era. / In the Thomas Hair style, 1830’s. HB pencil and watercolour. 140lb paper.
This shop in a town in country Victoria was perplexing. It was closed at the time of the picture, but it was hard to tell for how long – 2 days or 20 years? The ‘gown’ in the glass display case certainly looked like it had been there for an eternity, yet the secondhand clothing inside seemed in reasonable condition. (Although strangely, the rooms inside the building looked as though they belonged to an obsessive hoarder rather than a shopkeeper, as the items were piled up in strange random configurations that would have made browsing near impossible). Note mysterious bust above doorway.

Taken at Blists Hill Victorian Town museum near Ironbridge in Shropshire. The dappled light and strong reflections make this one of my favourite images.

Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery Reflections – Carnarvon Gorge Carnarvon National Park, Queensland, Australia. Carnarvon Gorge is between Roma and Emerald. The rugged 16,000ha Carnarvon Gorge section of Carnarvon National Park is the most popular destination in Queensland’s central highlands. Remnant rainforest flourishes in the sheltered side-gorges while endemic cabbage tree palms Livistona nitida, ancient cycads, ferns, flowering shrubs and gum trees line the meandering main gorge. Grassy open forest grows on the cliff tops. The park’s creeks attract a wide variety of animals including more than 173 species of birds. / Aboriginal rock art on sandstone overhangs is a fragile reminder of Aboriginal people’s long and continuing connection with the gorge. Some of the finest Aboriginal rock art in Australia, including ochre stencils, rock engravings and freehand paintings, can be seen at Baloon Cave, the Art Gallery and Cathedral Cave. This building, located in Old Town Sacramento, is a wonderful example of old California architecture, with arched windows, a very large pillared porch and Victorian styled woodwork!
Castle Howard has extensive and diverse gardens. There is a large formal garden immediately behind the house. The house is prominently situated on a ridge and this was exploited to create a landscape garden, which opens out from the formal garden and merges with the park. This is a view of just one of several Follies, each one being a listed building.
Italian town, Velletri, close to Rome.
Nice little dam and windmill, with reeds surrounding it on our central/western victorian farm.

This is the wonderful Lake Bassenthwaite in the Lake District of Cumbria. For once flat and showing it’s wonderful reflective quality. this was shot about 10.30am on a winter morning and it was the cold that had kept the surface so flat so late in the day. Converted into albumen in PSP
This is the reflection across Yew Tree tarn in the Cumbrian Lake District. This man made extended tarn, created for fishing and water management, is next to a farm very closely connected to a Mr P Rabbit creator. Also know as a spot where the local swan, duck and fish population expect to be fed by passers by or mug you if you fail to do so. / / Converted into albumen in PSP
