Reflections in the Water of Leith, Edinburgh
This photo was taken at first light at Marcy Dam. Marcy Dam is a pond in the High Peaks Wilderness Area of the Adirondack Park in New York. The area is used as a camping and staging area for many of the hikers who climb the surrounding mountains. It was a seasonably cold early October morning and the reflection across the pond was captivating.
This digitally repixelated photograph was taken by the full moon on Fire Island, NY where I once had a summer house. I wanted to create an abstraction of the original photograph as the original just didn’t measure up to the feelings I got from the actual scene which had prompted me to take the picture in the first place. That happened more often then I’d care to admit during the days of film only shooting. I decided to create my own impression of that moonlit evening thus the idea of impressionism came to mind and I went with it. Click once on image to enlarge. /

I don’t know what this cloud was trying to be but it made me laugh. Perhaps it was admiring itself in the glassy sea-shore reflection as it changed shape!
