Griffen Gully Pier at Western Beach on Corio Bay / / A fisherman at dawn, casts his line into the bay, hoping for a successful fishing session. Part of on early morning dawn series I took. / / /
One of my favourite portraits of my Dad, doing what he loves more then anything else in the world fishing. If he could he’d spend every day fishing, as it is he sometimes wets a line three or four times a day. On this occasion I decided to get up early and document him enjoying his sport. This is the result, it has special sentimental value to me, but I felt like sharing it as something different to what I’ve been posting recently.

Old film laying on the floor of the projection booth / cutting room of an abandoned cinema.
Looking down the main central aisle of the lower tier of an abandoned theatre / cinema
An empty film reel lays resting against one of the seat rows at an abandoned theatre / cinema
Laying on this floor in this abandoned cinema was this ancient telephone. I don’t know why but telephones seem to be one of the things that i always take shots of while I’m walking round one of these derelict places taking photographs. I wonder how long since this thing has heard a human voice, longer than it is since the site closure i would imagine / !
This is replacing a previous version I had uploaded. I applied a ND filter to it to make the fog thicker and sharpened it up a bit more.
This is a companion piece with Wetting A Line taken on the same morning as I captured my Dad doing what he loves best. This one is a little more subtle, and as my Dad now has Wetting a Line on his wall I hope he might have this one up soon too.
Winter in Melbourne does have its moments – just ask those fishing folk down Phillip Island way
What can I say? Just a little cheesy but meh :)
Ultra Fractal 4. I called it reel because of the heat the dance generates. / I could have called it Tarantella, Farruca, Flamenco, Bolero, Carioca, / Fandango, Roundel, Rumba, Can-Can. / But – I can’t do any of those so Reel it is, with a passion I add:-))

My dad’s ‘suitcase’ reel to reel recorder wasn’t quite this flash, but it brings back memories of ‘real’ home taping before it started killing music. Detail Featured in the Retro Tees Group on 03/04/2009 Stay in touch Subscribe to T-Shirt Updates Subscribe to my T-Shirt blog | visit the blog

Amazingly it seems I omitted to upload ths piece to my RB account. This is a piece I did with UF last Paddy’s day. I had completely forgotten about my sister’s birthday – more shame on me, so I did this as a birthday e-card idea. Whack for The Paddy-O is a development of this piece and is my 2009 Paddy’s Day Card Happy Paddy’s Day once again! This can be representative of a number of things – a button I think fits best for me….
Blue Lined Surgeonfish – Bali…the friendliest fish on the reef.
The cassette tape inherits its seeming authenticity from its ancestor, that ancient machine: the reel to reel player. Apologies to Momus for use of his flea market photo of reel to reel player.
