Well, I am so excited I have self-taught myself to do yet another thingy on the computer – LOL ;) / Windows Movie Maker gave me a run for my money (or lack there of) but I managed to get all of the digitally edited, remastered and altered artwork since I learned in July how to do that and it is now all together (like here) in one youtube video, put to music by Tomas Walker’s Native American flute, called SOARING it is almost 9 minutes long and also my first youtube video presentation too. / The shot here is a hawk flying overhead that I edited with Redfield Plug-in Fractilius. / Thanks for checking out the video and this ;)
In the center of Chichen Itza (At the mouth of the well of magic water) stands the Mayan Temple of Kukulkan, also referred to as “El Castillo” or the castle. This step pyramid has a ground plan of square terraces with stairways up each of the four sides to the temple on top. / On the Spring and Autumn Equinoxes, at the rising and setting of the Sun, the corner of the structure casts a shadow in the shape of a plumed serpent – Kukulcan or Quetzacoatl, along the west side of the north staircase. On these two days, the shadows from the corner tiers slither down the northern side of the pyramid with the Sun’s movement to the serpents head at the base. This photo was taken during a trip we took there in 1999, altered in Redfield plug-in Fractilius. Mayan Dreams

As I finished this work this morning, I was soon reminded that my path must be sacred and true, as I witnessed 4 Bald Eagles and 2 Golden Eagles sitting along the river treeline, never since we’ve been here have I seen a grouping like this together. My body was tingling from head to toe and I got so caught up in the beauty, I could only take a few photographs (which I’ll share soon). / In Northern America, the Eagle was considered great medicine power. To the Native Americans there were different kinds and divisions of Eagles. The Golden Eagle had a very high rank. The most potent and magical was the Sky Eagle which the Iroquois called Shadahgeyah. Among the Hopi, the Eagle god was called Kwahu and according to their legends, this great bird seldom came below the clouds; only the holiest of Shamans ever saw it. Even the Aztecs said this bird represented celestial power and the rising Sun. / As a Solar Eclipse approaches with the Chinese New Year on 1/26/09, the thought behind this Mandala becomes more clear…”We Are ALL One Tribe” Rainbow Hoop Created with Wacom Graphic pad/pen and enhanced with Redfield plug-in fractilius filter and photoshop7
This photograph is of a photo (taken by Gordon King) from the newspaper clipping a friend sent to me of a local female Bald Eagle who was just released from rehabilitation from ingesting the remains of a euthanized horse that someone had not disposed of or buried properly. / On this Friday the 13th, as I am not one who has Paraskevidekatriaphobia (fear of Friday the 13th), I have seen this Eagle this morning and I’m calling her LUCKY – lucky that someone had the sense to call Wildlife authorities and they determined she was not dead and savable; lucky that a rehabilitator spent over $1000 to a veterinarian to rid her body of the poisons; Lucky to be able to be released back into the wild; and, lucky to be able to fly… / Onward and Upward as yet another irresponsible human has almost taken the life force from another being – I have been a wildlife rehabilitator for over 20 years, and unfortunately most injuries, poisonings and accidents that brought the animals to me, were from humans not thinking CHOICES completely through to the consequences of whom would be affected. Now simply a metaphor for lightmindedness, the butterfly is an ancient symbol of immortality, its life cycle providing a perfect analogy: life (the crawling caterpillar), death (the dark chrysalis) and rebirth (the soul fluttering free). Hence the Greek myth of Psyche (literally “soul”). Depicted in art with butterfly wings, she was a mortal freed from death when Zeus was touched by her love for Eros – and his love for her. / Butterflies are emblems of souls are found as far apart as Zaire, central Asia, Mexico and New Zealand. They appear with their meaning on Christian tombs, and Christ is sometimes depicted holding the butterfly of resurrection. Butterflies represented the souls of slain Aztec warriors and were sacred to several Mexican deities, their flickering wings also symbolizing solar fire, an idea that recurs in Celtic tradition. In China, the butterfly is an emblem of leisure and a young male lover; through a phonetic link with the word for “seventy” it is also, when linked with the plum, a metaphor for beauty in old age. In Japan the creature stands for transient joy, female vanity and the geisha; a pair of butterflies represents conjugal bliss. In folklore illustration, fairies are often shown with butterfly wings. Epona was the name given to the horse goddess of the Celts. Her worship, widely popular in territories occupied by Rome, was eventually adopted by the Roman armies as well, who honored her as the goddess who protected their stabled horses, while a similar goddess Bubona was alotted the protection of oxen and other cattle. Although she was honored among the insular Celts in Britain and Ireland, the greater number of inscriptions and statues of Epona come from the continent. She was depicted in three poses; astride a horse, standing beside a horse or (less frequently) lying naked on the horse. When these sculptures and bas-reliefs show her holding an emblem, it varies also: sometimes Epona carries a cornucopia, sometimes a goblet, but most often a round bowl or plate. / Said to be the offspring of a mare and a man, Epona could take the tangible forms of both parents. Sometimes, too, she appeared as a rushing river, which suggests she was a fertility goddess, seen by Celts as water spirits. / Black horse/death; Gray horse/life; White horse/birth-re-birth ~ symbolizing light, life and spiritual illumination. / Self ~ Power/Divine Feminine Epona Photograph of mandala sketch, painted, edited and redfield plug-in fractilius in photoshop7.
