Waverley Art Prize Finalist / In the Moment Finalist – published
As Toyota and Jetstar are debating all around town, i thought i’d stir the pot with my little jump a bit more…
A self-portrait with another self-portrait and my last painting as a background. Foreground: Nude, pastel drawing on watercolor paper, private collection Europe / Background: YouMe, oil on canvas, private collection Australia I reluctantly did this self-portrait, it was one of the compulsory themes for my final exam in Portraiture Photography. My teacher told us to come with something creative and interesting, and gave us some amazing examples from the previous years. I left this till the last moment because nothing interesting crossed my mind. In the end I took my last drawing for Chris Orchard’s life drawing class and my last painting and did this. I used the natural light which was coming from the balcony from my right side. The image wasn’t “photoshoped”. / Finally when I got up there in front to talk about my work, I was surprised to see that this work was everyone’s favorite. It was the least prepared of all my works. The commission selected it to put it on the school website, and not long after, The Advertiser news paper, called me to publish it. My agent printed it on a large canvas, which was sold during South Australian Living Artists Festival.

não há banda….. não há orquesta…..... silêncio! ’’music at funeral..must be the dying one’s music of life.. because there is always a melody attends us for a lifetime.. some runs circles, some goes faster, some are lyrical and some sad.. but the worst one stops suddenly.. which you cant understand if it ended or not.. thats the suicide.. mine was a little different than this.. cause love was a suicide from the beginning.. for that reason play a sad song at my funeral.. which is rainy.. which has rose smell.. which has no color, no taste inside.. and which ends suddenly.. this is the last time I commit suicide..’‘ stocks from / http://gilraen-stock.deviantart.com/ / http://venommistress.deviantart.com/ This work sold as card, mounted print and mostly framed print /

Stand & Deliver Mixed Media, lots of layers and textures. / Moll Cutpurse is the only highway women I’ve found any reference to although I’m sure there were more…probably too smart to get caught;) Moll Cutpurse’s real name was Mary Firth, a bit of a tomboy, always ready for a rumble and happiest in the company of men. / Sources on her history are a little conflicting but she was a bit of a roguette and after pulling a big job on a Lord, brided her way of goal and the business finding it safer to work as a fence…..a fascinating character from the early 1600’s. Von kindly posted this wonderfully fitting poem / The wind was a torrent of darkness among the gusty trees, / The moon was a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas, / The road was a ribbon of moonlight, over the purple moor, / And the highwayman came riding- / Riding-riding- Sales to date: 2 / Available as a framed print, matted print, poster and card. Thank you to Marcus Ranum for the beautiful model. Nala kindly bmailed more info on Moll Cutpurse for history buffs

This is a portrait of my daughter, Jessica in her wedding gown. I painted this in Pastel on sanded paper.
Watercolor and pencil on illustration board, / 10×8 / 2009 Model: Adhara Batul One of the Greek myths I adore the most, for its incredible strength, poetry and significance, is the myth of Persephone. In Greek mythology, Persephone was the goddess of the underworld and of the Spring growth. Daughter of Demeter, goddess of the harvest, she was abducted by Hades and taken to the land of the dead. By a determination of the Fates, she was forced to stay for two seasons each year after eating pomegranates seeds, thus becoming consort of Hades and queen of the underworld. This time I opted by depicting her sorrow and solitude after having the seeds, although there’s quite an air of resignation with her destiny.
/ / / / Original pencil drawing “Topiary Teapot” About the Art / A pencil drawing coloured digitally, an elegant geisha enjoys the simple pleasure of her garden. The teapot topiary is also a fountain, you can see water pouring out of the spout and a sprinkler at the tippy top.. :) Inspiration / The inspiration came through my parents, who have a topiary teapot and a topiary sugar bowl in their own backyard, the also told me of an amazing topiary garden they visited in Tassie recently. / / Here is the “teapot topiary” in my parents’ backyard, they are sculpting teapots and sugar bowls….there are lots of fun things in my mum and dad’s garden !! Even the Cheshire Cat and Tinman have a spot in the sun there :)
