Scrounging amongst the autumn leaves for inspiration, colour and texture one finds unexpected treasures.
On the day I photographed the cathedral it had a huge banner facing Flinders Station saying “Free David Hicks”. This is a salute to all who are appalled by the misuse of justice for political gain
Just after sunset, just outside Billingborough, Lincolnshire. / / Also see over here for a collaboration with Lloyd Harvey. / /
Thanks to the magic of inspiration, I have produced another painting. As usual, I am tempted to continue fiddling. It may need gold, perhaps… I know we are requested to only put finished images up….it could be finished! We’ll see.
Little bunny hiding behind the old antique wheel.
A portrait of Jesus Christ with bubble-like clouds and bubbly scallops at the end of one of the background graphics. I chose to depict Jesus in this graphic manner without fleshtones in order to overthrow the stereotypical Jesus that is widely familiar to the public therefore taking a step toward making HIS image more inclusive to people of all cultural backgrounds. I do admit that HIS facial structure and wavy hair excludes the characteristics of many cultures.
Incredible cloud formations over Bridge Mountain within the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, located along the outskirts of Las Vegas, Nevada. This was definitely one of those times when patience was rewarded. You just have to choose your spot and wait for the lighting and weather conditions to fall into place. Red Rock Canyon is a beautiful area just minutes from my home, and I am trying to do my part to help it gain the world’s attention that it deserves.
Thunderstorms On the Farm Captured outside of Chief Hosa, Colorado. Some of you may have had about our crazy weather here in Colorado this summer with Tornado’s and all that jazz,....well, here is a story for ya all…... The storm you see in this photo is the very storm which would spawn a Tornado outbreak north of Denver and basically level the town of Windsor, Colorado. I drove through this storm while heading to Lake Dillon, to do some shooting, which is pretty high up in the mountains. While going through it in the mountains, I basically drove through a blizzard. I knew that if this storm kept heading East, it was going to be bad as Denver was warm and the humidity so high, 94% which is rare, because it usally stays at about 10%....all that and the storm colliding with said air makes for some dangerous conditions. Heading back, after Lake Dillon, I detoured some when I saw this barn and just had to get it…the rain stopped for just a second, which added some nice atmosphere for the scene as a whole. Especially with those storm clouds! It was so quiet, almost spooky, just the thunder is all ya heard and the occasional Blackbird. Thoughts welcomed / —-John
Leaves in autumn
Watch the Video here I lie awake on a long, dark night / I can’t seem to tame my mind / Slings and arrows are killing me inside / Maybe I can’t accept the life that’s mine / No I can’t accept the life that’s mine Simple living is my desperate cry / Been trading “love” with indifference yeah it suits me just fine / I try to hold on but I’m calloused to the bone / Maybe that’s why I feel alone / Maybe that’s why I feel alone Me..I’m rusted and weathered / Barely holding together / I’m covered with skin that peels and it just won’t heal The sun shines and I can’t avoid the light / I think I’m holding on to life too tight / Ashes to ashes and dust to dust / Sometimes I feel like giving up / Sometimes I feel like giving up Me…I’m rusted and weathered / Barely holding together / I’m covered with skin that peels and it just won’t heal The day reminds me of you / The night hides your truth / The earth is a voice / Speaking to you / Take all this pride / And leave it behind / Because one day it ends / One day we die / Believe what you will / That is your right / But I choose to win / So I choose to fight / To fight Creed
Autumn (Nov) still shows strong colors of the season, colors in the skys with clouds of storms and snow to be seen soon. The Holidays are just around the corner waiting for us to get there. I feel this photo shows us all that Autumn is upon us and god is finished painting for now! It was a bit nasty outside yesterday, but just before we got the rains, I was out driving and saw this scene. Couldn’t pass it up. I just love the strong clouds we get here. I don’t remember seeing these so much like this on the west coast. Awesome and we definitely did NOT get the Autumn scenes in California as well as had to drive to a farm (hour or so away) or go to the zoo to see horses…LOL / All in one shot! I tried everything to get the horses to turn and look at me but they were being very stubborn…. / This is a straight from the camera shot. / / / This image was featured in the Country Bumkin Group. Thank you all so very much. It is appreciated loads.
Weather front, how great to see it extended as far as the eye can see! The sun was getting lower in the sky to soften the ground view & the clouds kept going forever. This was taken on the Ernest Giles Road, south of Alice Springs. Yes this is actually a major road & it was a nightmare! Two & a half hours to go 100 Kms or 60 miles driving as fast as I could & slow enough not to shake ourselves or the vehicle apart!!!!! This sight warmed our hearts a mite! / Taken with Canon 5D, 24-105 Canon zoom lens.
Sunrise At Upper Beaver Meadows It pays to get places early, you all shoulda seen the out of state photographers come screaming around the corner in their 2 cars, slamming on the brakes, parking, and trying to lug what seemed like 200 pounds of equipment stuffed into massive LowePro bags when I was shooting this lol Anyways, this was quite a scene and one that I was pretty thrilled about capturing, the clouds just seem to skyrocket by me. Photographed in Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park. / Thoughts welcomed! / —-John You can see more of my work on my website at jdebordphoto.com
UNTOUCHED
Pike’s Peak as seen from Cherry Creek State Park reflects the Sunrise, a cold dad to be sure when I was shooting this, amazing to think that Peak is about 55 miles away as well! Processed in HDR, thoughts welcomed! / —-John
Red Warmth Of A Winter Sunrise Minolta 5D / Minolta 50mm f1.7 Lens / Singh-Ray CPL / iso 200-50mm-f4.5 / Custom WB One of the things I love about Winter here in Colorado is the way the sun manages to have these incredible sunrises and sunsets, there is something about this time of the year that turns the sky to fire a lot, and on this morning, this was no exception to the rule! Captured at Cherry Creek State Park, I froze my butt off, but it sure was worth it! Hope ya all enjoy it! / —-John ;http://www.redbubble.com/products/configure/8374272
It’s a storm cloud!
“Tributary” was taken on the Waterford River in downtown St John’s, Newfoundland, Canada. Walk a few hundred meters up the trail, turn around and you have “Waterford Gold”. / For more information please visit Brian’s Homepage or on Flickr
Amazingly, I have only just discovered the Orton technique…. So, where has it been all my life I wonder? A whole new world has opened up for me! This photograph is of a red door taken in a small cobbled street in a quaint village in Portugal on a summer’s day. There is so much that attracted me to this door, not only the colours and the aged wood and stone, but also the wonder of what the door has seen in its life.
I like rose very much.
