  • Shot from a city carpark, Melbourne.

  • I couldn’t really think of a title for this shot, I tend to really be bad at doing that and well, the title of this kinda just popped in my head….I was just getting ready to leave Washington Park in Denver, when I happened to glance over and noticed this, and it just sorta caught my eye, the color, the light, the symmetry of the whole scene…so I went ahead and swung my tripod around and shot a few of the scene. Processed in HDR, let me know what ya think! More of my work can be seen on my website at jdebordphoto.com

  • I shall tell you a little secret: it was actually on my birthday on 23rd September of last year, that I sneaked away from the house very, very early in the morning! After all nature had given me the great present of an excellent morning, ever so beautiful. Seeing the televised weather report the evening before I had already mentioned the possibility, and my wife had said she did not mind. Well, I took such a lot of beautiful shots there on the grounds of the country-house Groeneveld near Baarn (some of you will know the place aready from my hoarfrost shots). This red bush was a first sign of approaching autumn. It gave such a colourful touch to the scene that I simply had to take the shot.

  • this is my ghana; the ghana where women build the nation balancing work, motherhood and responsibility with feminine grace. the ghana where the infinite inner strength of its women reigns with the peace and tranquillity of their confidence of success. the ghana that carries all her burdens and never gives up, but just keeps looking ahead.

  • / Sumac Walk is part of the Landscape Collection Watercolour on Arches Paper…no brushes were used in completing this painting… A Walk Along the Old Tracks / by Robert Kinsley When I was young they had already been / abandoned for years / overgrown with sumac and sour apple, / the iron scrapped, the wood long / gone for other things. / In summer my father would send us along them / to fetch the cows from the back pasture, / a long walk to a far off place it seemed / for boys so young. Lost again for a moment / in that simple place, / I fling apples from a stick and look for snakes / in the gullies. There is / a music to the past, the sweet tones / of perfect octaves / even though we know it was never so. / My father had to sell the farm in that near perfect time / and once old Al Shott killed a six foot rattler on the tracks. / “And when the trolly was running” he said, “you could jump / her as she went by and ride all the way to Cleveland, / and oh,” he said, “what a time you could have there.”

  • This figure represents an ancient Shaman. He is a modern version of ancient petroglyphs that can be found all over the American Southwest. I first saw the original of this particular image in a photograph that my brother took of a petroglyph while in the four corners area. The four corners is an area that includes a part of New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, and Colorado. I later saw a similar image (similar headdress) in a poster in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I liked the headdress so I combined the two images in my mind and changed them around and added the dog and made the image my own. The painting is acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas. 18×24”
