As you travel further into the town of Chloride, you will see a wonderful old rusty crusty, falling to bits truck on your right, the photographers dream. It still has a load of hay on it and sports a picturesque delight for your camera. Stop and take a picture for your collection before you travel down the road into the heart of town. Look for more old vehicles, tractors and mining equipment during your visit. You will not be disappointed. Annual Car Show / On the second Saturday in October, some of the nation’s finest automobiles travel to Chloride for the Annual Car Show. Spectators line the streets to watch these magnificent machines slowly travel the streets of town. Trophies and other prizes are awarded to winners in several categories. Food vendors, jewelry vendors, antique vendors, and junk dealers add to the gala affair sponsored by Shep’s Miner’s Inn. Also included in the mix of festivities is a mock gunfight scheduled at high noon. Desert USA Many movies and commercials have been filmed in and around Chloride through the years. Entertainment can be found 5 nights a week including 2 gunfight reenactment troupes. More about this later. This is the third of a series about the mining town of Chloride, Arizona. Other Christmas Cards and Art by Karin / / How many sales so far – 3 sales so far! / / / The Chinese Chop symbol with my initials was created by and comes courtesy of the lovely Keith Richardson / A Rainbow of Angels I drew ‘A Rainbow of Angels’ with a pencil over brown paper which had previously been painted with stripes of white gesso… I coloured it in with chalk pastels, coloured pencils and charcoal, and outlined it using black felt tip pens and charcoal After that we had some fun in Photoshop…and that’s when ‘A Rainbow of Angels’ came to life… This might make a cute Christmas card or tshirt for a special person or three :) / /

Vincent’s Cat Recently I’ve been looking at Vincent Van Gogh’s paintings. I love his irises and wanted to paint some myself. Their complicated forms and brilliant deep blues captivated me. As some of you may know I have a fondness for cats. During my life I have had two exceptional ginger cats ‘Victor’ and ‘Mittens’ who were very dear to me; this is dedicated to their memory. / / / Christmas Rainbows Nativity is a mixed media production on brown paper / I used white acrylic gesso under, with a mix of chalk pastel, black marker and charcoal to create this little piece especially for Christmas 2008 You may notice that each character has a Heart… / Jesus’ heart is white – symbolic of his purity / Mary has a pink heart – symbolic of a mother’s gentleness and softness / Joseph’s heart is red – symbolic of father’s strength and reliability The idea of sending Rainbow Wishes for Christmas 2008 seemed appropriate in light of our global situation, the Rainbow stands for Hope or Promises made that they will be fulfilled…. I think we are all hoping for the fulfillment of the promises made to us by our governments, our leaders, our friends and family for PEACE and GOODWILL towards all men, regardless of race or creed….and not least of all God himself who spoke about rainbows being a sign of promise and hope, and also Jesus who’s birth it is we celebrate, mainly because of the hope his birth put in our hearts for true freedom from our chains (but if you are not a believer, the artwork still speaks of the promise of hope…..if not a believer in hope…then this one isn’t for you …but perhaps it will speak to someone’s heart and help spread a little hope for the future around )

It was so strong at this one moment that it created the glow you see emitted from within the flower. I took this photo from the sidewalk along Peachtree Dunwoody RD in Atlanta, Georgia.
