This one is about the connection we have with our loved ones, roses always speak volumes about beauty, love, romance…......and wanting to connect…...what happens we we give and receive roses, why do we give and receive them…..it’s really sentimental stuff…..ahh where would we be without all that roses say for us, through us, about us, to others :) I hope you like my “Sweet Rosie”.....these roses are for you :)

Forest fires and heat throughout Alaska have obscured the Chugach range and limited opportunities to practice landscape photography. I learned much after posing the query, What makes a good landscape photo?, but must wait to work on better foregrounds. However, upon reflection, ahem, other photographic opportunities exist. Nikon D200, Nikkor 70-300mm VR, f/5.6, 1/250, -0.67 exposure compensation, 85mm focal length, ISO 100, 2-stop ND grad, Speedlight SB-800 with diffuser bounced off white wall, Manfrotto tripod. Oh, and a patient poppy plucked from the wilds of Alaska. (If that’s not too anthropomorphic for you.)

During my solo exhibition a couple of weeks ago F.A Moore asked me what I used to paint when I first started out. Mainly influenced by Manet, this is the kind of painting that I used to do way back then. I’ve had this painting hanging in my basement since 1999 and have never offered it for sale before. Although very traditional, it’s one of my first and one of my favorites. Acrylic on masonite board 20 X 24 inches framed in two-tone black/brown.
