  • One night, very late at night, I felt an old urge return to me. An urge to paint. So I put on a pot of tea and set about to paint till the early morning hours. As the tea was heating up I realized, oh wait! I had not paint and no canvas! Opps. So I grabbed the back of a board I found on the street and all the unused and almost empty jars and tubs of paint I had and just went crazy. / The texture on this print is incredible. Large view a must!

  • Crossing the Simpson Desert via the GPS points of the Madigan Line. / The sandhills are around 30mt high stable at the base with a soft “live” top. / Getting over sandhills where no previous track exists is a little tricky. Speed is need to crest over the very soft smooth sand, however you have to learn to “prop” on the top as often the other side can be an almost verticle 30mt descent, requiring you select low range 1st gear, while you turn the nose of the vehicle slightly to the left to look out the drivers window to see where you are going, as looking over the bonnet you only see blue sky.

Convict-built to a European design it has needed very little repair work over the years and now carries well over a two million vehicles a year. For those visiting Australia and the state of Tasmania this bridge is located in the township of Campbelltown, the town has accomodation in the form of hotels and bed and breakfasts.

  • Yesterday when I was young / The taste of life was sweet as rain upon my tongue / I teased at life as if it were a foolish game / The way the evening breeze may tease a candle flame / The thousand dreams I dreamed, / the splendid things I planned / I always built, alas, on weak and shifting sand / I lived by night and shunned the naked light of day / And only now I see how the years ran away Yesterday when I was young / So many drinking songs were waiting to be sung / So many wayward pleasures lay in store for me / And so much pain my dazzled eyes refused to see / I ran so fast that time and youth at last ran out / I never stopped to think what life was all about / And every conversation I can now recall / Concerned itself with me, me, and nothing else at all “Yesterday the moon was blue / And every crazy day brought something new to do / I used my magic age as if it were a wand / And never saw the waste and emptiness beyond / The game of love I played with arrogance and pride / And every flame I lit too quickly, quickly died / The friends I made all seemed somehow to drift away / And only I am left on stage to end the play / There are so many songs in me that won’t be sung / I feel the bitter taste of tears upon my tongue / The time has come for me to pay for yesterday / when I was young” ~ Song by Charles Aznavour See/hear music video here / ~ A version by Shirley Bassey here _ Original photo is of a friend of mine; taken in the dark (no flash) by firelight only_ ~ PS: today 6 Sept, here in Australia, its so-called “Fathers Day”

  • I visited this area many times over the last 20 years to photograph this very scene, usually in the dark after twilight. I was there two nights ago and I couldn’t resist shooting it again as the sun set. I was also fortunate this time to have the lights from the two cars which passed by, one up and one down the hill, aligned so nicely. This is taken at “Ladies Lookout” atop Signal Hill, St John’s Newfoundland Canada. “Ladies Lookout” is so named because from this very point women would for generations walk there to look for signs of their men returning from the fishing grounds, the Grand Banks of Newfoundland. You can only imagine when Mother Nature unleashed the mighty North Atlantic the humility these people must have felt! Camera Model Canon EOS 50D / Tv( Shutter Speed ) 30 / Av( Aperture Value ) 22.0 / ISO Speed 100 For more information please visit Brian’s Homepage or on Flickr
